- We are removing some Eastern Redbud trees from an area of The Proving Grounds 2 to make better habitat for wildlife. If you're doing any TSI or Timber Removal, make sure you have a plan to maintain your native habitat!

I’d rather focus on privet, autumn olive, Japanese honeysuckle, stilt-grass, bar berry and other non-native eradication.
Fortunately, those species are present at my place.
Great tips again! Yes, this is a wonderful time of the year. Enjoy it! God bless!!
I have seen bees & other pollinator insects all over redbuds & other early flowering trees in the early season when there isn't much for them to eat. Any concern about removing too much food for the pollinators? Here in Illinois I would be more concerned about Bradford Pears, although I do let some of those exist on my property also.
Removing the redbucks to produce forbs that will produce pollen much longer throughout the growing season than redbucks.
Would love to see a predator trapping update. Love your videos!!!
Thanks! 110+ and counting!
I'd rather have the beauty than a few extra square feet of food.
Where there are 1,000's of redbucks, it's much more than a few feet of extra food.
I mean no disrespect. Like you said we can fall on a different spectrum of importance. I love you and your channel. I hope God continues to bless your health, your family, and your ministry through deer hunting. @@GrowingDeerTV
Good info 👍👍
My DNR forester recommended to address the invasives before logging.Manage the forest from the ground up to avoid creating a mess you have to clean up afterwards. There’s probably some truth to that.
Red bud jelly
💪👍👊
I understand what you are wanting to accomplish. That ground reminds of what’s under bush honeysuckle. I personally love these trees, and don’t have an over abundance of them at all. Cedar is not more valuable than walnut folks. Too much of any one thing depletes biodiversity.
This has been proven over.
I'll add Bradford pears, fescue, multiflora rose, smooth brome, etc. to Joe's list below. With the habitat degradation and spread of invasives that have been happening on the landscape level, it's borderline irresponsible to put out a video where many people could easily not fully understand the content.
great video and information . don't take this wrong but please go back to a real chainsaw and not a battery they are junk !! thank you tho for all you do for hunters and land managers !!
Gosh - our battery powered saws are working great!
I understand your goal of creating more herbaceus growth, but why not just use a natural disturbance regime like fire and grazing instead of completely unnatural toxic chemicals. After fire the native shrubs will resprout and provide highly nutritious browse for wildlife and if you're worried about them taking over just repeat another fire or high utilization grazing every so often and it will maintain the herbaceus community you're aiming for. Just remember native plants and animals are adapted to natural distubance regimes (periodic fire and high utilization grazing) where as invasives and weeds are well adapted to unnatural disturbance regimes (tillage, chemicals, complete removal of disturbance).
My property is not fenced for grazing and cattle wouldn't consume the redbucks. Using a milliliter of herbicide per tree is a great system. A fire that would terminate (even just top kill) a large redbuck will also kill more desireable tree species.
Completely disagree about removing some of the earliest blooms on the landscape. God helped insure things are made to help pollinators throughout seasons instead of just during "the growing season". There isn't another species blooming that fierce anywhere in the background of the video. You may be doing this for deer, but removing redbuds isn't a pro-wildlife practice. Still appreciate your content and what y'all stand for though.
Thanks! Most things in moderation. Redbuds are prolific seed producers and can close the canopy quickly. Keeping them in check is good work. Thanks for watching!
your god did nothing, here on Earth we deal w/ Evolution....
Dont be talking about the creator when he clearly out in the Bible dont waist resources. Very few waist as much as deer hunters. All those cedars you cut and burned have high market value and are easly sold. From the small one growing in tall timber only a couple inches at 5 feet they have a higher value than walnut. Easy to cut a hundred a day and sell for 2.00 each. I dont want to hear gas no value around here i have shipped cedar out of okla to 35 states becouse they cant get local
Come on to our neck of the woods here in swmo nobody wants them and no market!!! Hell I'll give you every one on my place!
Waist is is measurement for jeans..... WASTE is the correct correct spelling in your opinion about deer hunters
@@leonmahurin3855 ya I get tired of checking spell check
The creator doesn't care about money, although it's obvious you do. Don't hide behind him just so you can try to make a buck
What does the Bible say about greed?
