Thank you so much for your wonderful video with this and many other Texas railroad videos. i have been over this line on the Southwest Chief back in 2004 and it was a lot of fun. Wishing you all only the very best. High Ball moving forward.
Awesome video! I visited the semaphores in Bernal recently and they are pretty cool to see operating. It’s unfortunate the days of the semaphores are numbered.
I hope to be able to ride the Chief through the area of these signals before they're replaced by color signals. Edit: I did a few months ago and I was able to see the Semaphores from the Back of the Chief. It feels like a train trip to remember.
Great video and catch! IIRC, while some have gotten replaced, the rest are probably gonna survive for at least a few more years, as apparently BNSF has to run brand new lines out to the rest of them. So hopefully a few will hang on for a while longer. They ain't quite the last ones either, but they're certainly the last three-color semaphores. All other semaphores you'll find in service here in the US (including one with a broken blade here in Alabama) are just fixed approach ones.
Great video it's a relief that no these semaphores are being scrapped BNSF Is donating all their semaphores to good railroad homes While the lone wig wag signal at Delhi Colorado Is being donated to the headquarters building I don't know which one though
It's should be save at least one semaphore signals next or near modern signals while railfans or newly ages with the never saw at younger ages by love watching historical semaphore machine movements!
@@TheCentralTexasRailfan I totally agree but keep in mind that these Semaphore signals are being donated to various museums across the country courtesy of BNSF railway None of them will be scrapped
This pair of semaphores were removed in November 2022. Only 11 blades remain between Wagon Mound, NM and Colmor, NM
That's what I heard. Honestly, I'm surprised they held on as long as they did. Sad to see them go though.

Yeah, I heard 'bout that too. BNSF did recently add new parts to some of them so it seems they are trying to keep them up.
@@TheCentralTexasRailfan oh I didn’t know that! Hopefully the ones on the raton sub will last a bit longer

Awesome video (and description too)! I'm glad that you got a chance to see these semaphores working and that you shared with all of us.

Excellent! Hopefully BNSF's new lines get ruined somehow and the project is cancelled, lol. Only in my dreams.

Excellent tribute to these old bastions of safety! 👍
Many thanks!
Most interesting. They look very efficient and intuitive.
Actually, they're complicated and require considerable maintenance. Color lights are much simpler and more reliable.

Fortunately, most if not all are being saved and given to museums or collectors!
When will all the semaphores be gone? And is the Delhi Wig Wag already gone?
Delhi should be staying for a while longer.
I wanna get back out to Raton Soooo bad before the semaphores are gone!!
Awesome video btw!
Neat:)
Great video! Real shame those semaphores have to go, but it's good to be glad that they've servived for more than 100 years!
Me to I'm happy to hear that all of these semaphore signals are getting donated to good homes
It's a shame that the guv'memt here demands relatively pointless regulations to destroy history. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

@@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan yeah, it's nice that BNSF is doing that.

Great signals there oh what do you use to edit you videos?
