May I ask, what is the time frame (after initial psychosis evaluation) for trying various antipsychotics and how many times switching is attempted prior to labeling a patient as having resistant schiz. and initiating clozaril? I am specifically interested for a patient who is 12 y.o female and has gone from risperidone, to abilify since august 2023 and AH and VH are mostly controlled, but is still delusional. Thank you for any info you may provide.
My brother has been in the hospital now since he has schizophrenia. They started him on clozapine a few days ago. They also told him that he would be required long term care, which is up to six months of stay because of that medications he is now taking. Is that true?

Hi Ethan, It varies, depending on whom you ask, however my impression is that overall electroconvulsive therapy remains controversial(ECT).
