Sarah puts on an acting clinic in the show. Her character comes to life and runs circles around the viewers' brain and emotions. I hope she gets some type of reward or recognition for her performance.
On reading your comment, my first reaction was, “What do you mean? She’s a terrible actor!” Then I thought for a moment and realized she’s only acting like a terrible actor. So I guess she’s pretty good. 😊
They were gonna start on season 3 in March, but had to shut down due to COVID. Hopefully they start back up soon, cause it is literally the best show on TV right now.
I have been struggling so much with my job and debating whether I even have the passion for it anymore and listening to Henry talk about how he’s living his dream and loves his job has me in tears 😭
I'm binge-watching the 1st season, but it's so good I'm restraining myself because I'm already having that feeling... when you finish a wonderful book and you become nostalgic of the characters... This is why I'm binge-watching the interviews :-D
I'm calling it right here right now: who would put aside 10$ of their monthly paycheck to convince Henry to record all of Stephen King's books? I'm actually not kidding, we can make it happen people.
13:06 Mr Winkler, if you ever read this : you'll always be one of the most positive and inspirational role models in my life. I'm writing down what you are saying, literally. Thank you so much.
It’s really telling how characters like Sally and Beck from You get more hate than the male leads, who are actual murderers It’s almost like people hate women or something 🤔
Aliyah J. Very true. People will forgive a self-absorbed, selfish male characters, but if it’s a woman, then they suddenly stop having the ability to feel empathy.
To be fair, while there's certainly going to be a percentage of misogynists who are going to be their dick selves regardless, I think there is also the desensitization to violence that you have to deal with. We've been wired by movies for a long time to see past the murder-y nature of our protagonists. In video games the phrase "ludonarrative dissonance" was coined to describe the disconnect between the playable character's heroism in the context of the story versus the reality of murdering hundreds of nameless humans to get to the third act. Like - for me - the most unlikable thing that Barry has done was flip out at Sally early in the 3rd season at her office. In reality, it probably should be one of the many, many innocent human's he has killed. But I don't really connect with that aspect, because the murdering is pulpy, TV fantasy nonsense. Even when it's horrific, it's easily ignorable. Abusive partners, on the other hand, are a very real thing. That shit was actually upsetting. It was the moment that solidified for me - Breaking Bad style - "Ohh, Barry is the BAD guy in this series, isn't he?" So I think Sally being a narcissist is along that same vein. Most people don't know any hitmen in real life, and aren't really tackling the morality of that process. But lots of people have known an abusive partner or a narcissist, so those things are going to strike closer to home. It's a more "real" thing they're getting upset about. I think another way to put it, is most people are going to assume/hope that people like Barry don't really exist, so they don't take them seriously enough to get mad at them.
I love this show so much. Bill Hader is hands down my favourite comedian/comedic actor on earth right now. HBO is still unparalleled when it comes to tv show gold. Everything, every single character is always cast perfect and there are no "background" characters or plots. Every character has depth and I wish life was more like that...:)
My mom used to work with deaf kids, and used to be at a lot of charity events for deaf people that Henry Winkler would show up to and be a part of. She said he was always so kind and caring of a person. That he would go so far and above what was asked of him, and never really wanted any publicity for it. Just a kind and generous man
I would work for two years straight and give every Penny I make if it'll mean that Henry would agree to record 5 Stephen King novels. I'm. Not. Kidding. That's an actual goal of mine. Try to imagine him narrating the green fucking mile.
LIAM LIAMESQUE I have the same problem too... I don't know how bad your memories are with your ex but former James Bond , actor Daniel Craig is almost a dead ringer for a guy I dated 20 years ago who I'd only known for maybe 2 months and I didn't understand how severe his being bipolar was... he physically attacked me and left me with a cracked sternum, a 3 cm blood clot attached to my stomach ,severe fractures on a number of ribs that years later a doctor and asked me if I've been in a bad car accident because as he said my whole left thoracic cavity was very damaged. Worst yet, shortly after it happened my orthopedic surgeon said I never should have survived because the worst of the fractures were in back of and in front of my heart and my heart should have been shredded from the fractured ribs and with each step I took home... and I walked very far.... as I was in shock... I couldn't breathe it was almost impossible to inhale or exhale so I was like a zombie Staggering home. The nose on that guy was a little bit different then Craig Daniels but other than that he looks a lot like him and sometimes I can't watch his movies.
Damn me too. Especially if you were in the military. Every time I watch an episode my brain starts to change back to an old mindset...if your talking about Barry. The girl on the other hand, plenty of chicks in the world to help anyone get over their ex

Romeo Casido it’s actually remarkable... Normally wouldn’t write all this praise. But she’s pretty incredible.
She's even more incredible in Season 2, that monologue of hers is transcendent.
I’m not that tuned into acting quality so I only started to notice on rewatch but WOW! She is consistently amazing.
She's so great in the role, that i absolutely cannot stand her character.

She is an AMAZING actress. Completely brilliant in Barry.

Sarah Goldberg is literally an amazing actress! She's epic and one of my favourite characters in Barry.
Henry Winkler is just awesome !!!
In an interview Bill Hader said Henry Winkler didn't have to audition, the part was already for him, but he wanted to audition himself.
Henry Winkler makes me happy to alive. What a beautiful soul!

It's so funny how dark what Henry says about 1 out of 10 directors and actors giving you shit, is. wow.

Sarah is incredible. Love. 🥰
The guy in the blue sweater at the end of the interview. I wish he was MY acting teacher, he looks like such a delight.
She reminds me of Julie Benz, particularly in the early seasons of Dexter.
Same. And Bill sometimes reminds me of Dexter.
but more selfish and myopic.

What kind of people would dislike this video?
Henry Winkler should really be an acting teacher. Or a spiritual one:D
Winkler is Cousineau.
Sarah is exactly Sally.
Notice the repeated reference to delusional narcissistic characters in Barry. Its not an accident. It may be the challenge of our epoch.
It is, narcissism is becoming epidemic in Western societies.
