The youthful hosts pursuing hunting knowledge distinguishes this podcast from the others I watch/listen to. Allowing these seasoned hunters to tell their stories is priceless. I'd rather listen to this vid twice than otherwise.

This is a Wise Fella. I get the feeling he is near The Lord. I can sense his Gratefulness through his choice of words. I hope I can meet him one day.
You can really tell that he has found his Love of the Hunt. Man, his message is much stronger than tips on killing a giant. His message is to Love the Hunt. Something that we forget about so often while chasing giants. Always remember to Love the Hunt first.

Travis is probably one of the best interviews I’ve ever heard on UA-cam… I am 68 and have “walked up” deer all my life. I too switched to a longbow two seasons ago. While I have some health issues that make me walk less these days, I still prefer to understand the deer movements and flow with them… you see a lot more deer too. I moved away from my core deer hunting areas last year at the request of my daughters, since I’m a widower and live alone. Now I get to learn a new area and frankly, it has turned me upside down even though it’s only 90m from where I used to hunt… always something more to learn, that’s for sure…. I have been rekindled by this interview… thanks everyone.

I’m in north central Texas. I have been fortunate enough to hunt for whitetail deer now for several years. Not a lot, less than ten maybe. Mostly from a ground blind sometimes a box blind or maybe propped up by a stump on a tank dam. I have an uncle who does not hurt anymore but lets me hunt his property and does some mentoring. Today was a bit windy and I felt it was time that I did some on the ground stalking. I did not find any big game walking in the mid day but I think I ran some coyote around and learned a bit. After breaking for a late lunch I returned to the box blind for the evening watch. The rut is on and I saw several deer. I never pulled the trigger but it was an exciting day with lots of takeaways.
Your videos always make me think of something that I could maybe use. Thank you. Keep it southern y’all…

heck yah the hunt comes first, and a kill is icing on the cake, my advice I learned today on a video is, find a good spot piss on a scrape and come back the next morning and call that deer, it will come right to that scrape. this year middle of October I pruned branches and made so much sound making a shooting lane, the same day the buck who was bedded behind me, circled and come out right to me, checking for what that noise was, and then 9 yards shot with scope zoomed all the way out, ass shot didn't recover 160 class but the best part the young neighbor girl shot it in gun season. good luck shoot a buck

The squirrel hunting aspect is also something iv been preaching for years. It's damn near impossible to walk through our woods without snapping something every step. I totally agree with what he's saying. It's just so hard here. One thing that we have found that helps with not breaking so many sticks is where a softer soled boot so you can feel what's under your feet before putting your weight down. Also it seems the soft soled boots give you more control walking and sometimes even if you step on a stick it won't crack if you're not moving fast unlike our stiffer soled boots.

With a compound bow you’re going to want a big tree or a fat bush in front of you at 5-15 yards to break line of site when you draw your bow. Stadium style “chairs” work great to remove the temptation to lean up against a tree. Leaning against a tree is fine for hiding…. Right up until you need to draw. Bushes, fallen tree tops, makeshift ground blinds made from dead limbs (because it’s illegal to cut live limbs where i hunt).

Every squirrel hunt can be a dual effort in deer scouting. (When you get old like me those squirrels are a lot easier to drag out than a deer, lol!)

Great stuff, I wrote down a lot of quotes, I’m not just using them for hunting, I’m using them to advise my children…..”failures”. Excellent wisdom you only get thru time in God’s creation.

I enjoy your content and this is an awesome episode. I don’t think I’m exaggerating by saying I’m getting ad breaks every 3-5 min. I celebrate people making money but sure wish there were fewer interruptions as I’m often listening to this stuff while working, driving or at the gym and not able to free up my hands quickly to skip ads. Great work overall and I celebrate you making money but it seems way more frequent than most if not all other YT channels I regularly watch.
