Fable 1996 Annotated: Part 1

- This is a recording of the Let's Jab Fable (1996) series of videos where people logged in and crapped up the screen with attempts at being funny or just straight-up tagging. It was a bitch trying to wrangle it in, but it could result in a kind of magic only the internet at large could create together. This is one of the better results of everyone's efforts, but it sure as hell took a lot of deleting on my part (over on the UnoriginalMaterial channel). I don't regret anything about it. I only wish UA-cam kept up the feature or at least kept the annotations live.
These were only able to be recorded (today, in fact) due to a large amount of programming and archival effort on the part of others, making sure as much of the annotation data as possible was saved before UA-cam pulled the plug, and they even managed to give us ways to still view the stuff. And if you have any videos that matter to you, please do the same while you can. Not everything on the internet lasts. It takes people who care and make the effort to save what's important to them. Sometimes, even the creators of the content stop caring. If you want something to last, make sure it does. - Ігри
whenever i watch video essays i'll see stuff like "hey guys [x] here from the editing room with a development" or a pinned comment thats like "oh i was wrong about [y]" and i think damn we need annotations more than ever now

Absolutely! And yeah, UA-cam germinated its inception and then brought about its demise. I was really heartbroken about it for a long time. I'm just lucky people smarter than me were able and willing to put something together to save the data and make a plugin to view them still.
It's kind of amazing. But it still relies on the original video remaining on UA-cam, which is less and less likely if the creators think the content that relies heavily on annotations won't be able to show them. I only found out about people saving the annotations because a fellow enthusiast weirdo told me it was happening. I figure most creators would just consider it lost content. 🫤

Well, there's more on the way. I recorded the whole thing into six parts, and I'm releasing each, one every three days for attention retention reasons. Mostly just so the algorithm gives them a chance at all.
But yeah, me too. It was a different time back then. UA-cam felt new.
It's so weird, my brain forcibly reminded me of the Two Worlds MYO series the other day and now this cursed gem, buried for over a decade, returns.
Then it's all working perfectly to plan. 😈🫸🫷

Wow, this is a blast from the past. Thanks for posting this here. I remember laughing like mad back in 2009. Sure, the humor was mostly stupid and crass, but so was I.
Yeah, I still laughed my ass off at a lot of it yesterday while recording. It's such a vibe.

When I saw the notification I was like " I dont remember subbing to a such channel" but when checked I realized you are Egger3rd who made Oblivion Rumors video.
Yep, although I'm rebranding to AbbyRemix now because I dropped my entire legal name to distance myself from certain family members who disowned my ass since transitioning over a decade ago. Fuck those guys.
So yeah, legally changes my name for second time since coming out as just a gender-swapped version (for their sake, hoping it would make it easier for them to realize I'm the same person). But since it didn't make any difference to them (they stopped talking to me entirely after I came out), and it's been long enough... I just wanted to be done with the whole thing, and to get on with my life.
Thanks for sticking around though. I know I haven't been uploading a lot lately. And that's partly due to that whole transphobia and thing making me want to stay away from the Egger branding. But there's nothing wrong with my content to make me want to distance myself; just the branding was the problem. I'd like to get back on track and make this a larger part of my legacy to the world. So as long as this whole hiccup is over, I can work on doing that I think.

Heck yeah! Been doing great. Got a lot of life goals out of the way, and learned a bit about computer science along the way. Looking forward to getting back into some sporadic uploads. Hopefully gonna remake and/or sequelize the Sporeout videos soon, but I've been sort of stress-testing my workflow until then on these other uploads.
Thanks for stickin' around all this time. I'm not really the most consistent creator by a long shot, but I'm getting better at circumventing burnout and avoidance, so here's hoping it's enough to get over that hill and actually make something again. 🤙🏻

I tried, but I think it's a dud trying to post a recording of that here. Spent hours on that and the Judge Dredd one, but I caught too many recording and processing snags. I'd likely have to just bite the bullet and spend another day on it, but after watching most of them, I really don't think quality goofs to justify reposing here.
You can still watch them on UnoriginalMaterial so long as you download and use a browser plugin that displays them the way you see here. I linked to it as the first part of each video's description on any it should apply to.
I'm happy with things the way they are. I'll keep this here since I tend to see it as the most successful of the attempts at starting a weird, collaborative Let's Play variant. I still think it's a shame UA-cam stopped it, but it's almost a blessing with the amount of work it took to keep cleaning out the worst of the annotations. Some were just straight up intrusive, and it made the good stuff get buried under a pile of garbage. I was willing to tend it, but that was when there was enough input to be worth sorting through it usually.
I believed in it though as a medium of entertainment too bad it died. 💀
