  • Creating a stopmotion can be quite time consuming. This video will save you some time because I’ll explain how to create a fake paper cut out stop motion effect. All inside of after effects.
    My gear list:

    i like your effect here in video. i really wanted to use this with my illust file but i failed.. its moving but there is no texture at all :,( did you mask your cat on the paper texture like you did in this video? or import illust file then apply your effect? if its imported illust file, please let me know how to do this.... i really hate super clean look it self. :,( and... i can wait until you notice me! :)

      I think you’re talking about the example of the cat? I believe I used all the different illustrator layers as mattes for the paper texture. And parented the texture to each shape. You still have to recolor the paper texture though.
      So import the illustrator file in layers.
      Add the paper texture between all the illustrator layers.
      Set all paper textures to luma matte.
      Parent each layer and texture.
      Than add the effect.
      There might be some dropshadow shenanigans going on in regards to the track matte… but I’m not sure since it’s been years since I did this effect.

      1 posterizeTime(*number of frame*)
      2 value
