great cast! I honestly like the way it is now more. Watching this on a 27" monitor, but the crispier image matters more to me than the minimap. when watching these casts, i sort of relax and don't really pay attention to the minimap with these casts anyway, in the way i would if i was playing. Keep it up! Great work!

Really love that you stay with the tingu and harvester to see if the tingu actually kills the harvester with honorable discharge.. that mcv trade was so dope. This whole game was dope but o feel like dimon could have made a comback. He quit to early

Loved how harlen used the leech beam at the start and then prioritizing those 2 hammer tanks as elite Tengu killers for like the rest of the game. 2 weapon hammer tanks are scary

I think he underestimated his opponent. He did some unnecessary stuff, didn't go T3, only unsed Tengu and VX for the most part, etc.
I am glad that are still Red Alert 3 battles in these times
Regarding the resolution: I really think that the videos already looked amazing at 1080p and further enhancements do not bring very much noticable difference. I would not waste computer power on that super sampling ;) And I think the minimap looks noticably better at 1080p (with 2 players its not that bad, but with 4 or 6 players its hard to tell, what colors those dots are :D). I'm watching at 1080p on a 22 inch monitor.

I watch your content on a 27 inch monitor and think it looked super at 1080p. In games with more than two players I like to be able to see what is happening on the minimap. But any change in resolution up or down would not stop me from watching and enjoying these nuggets.
Minimap icons shouldn't bother anyone, because anyone watching know all these maps inside out. And if they don't - well then they should! For any mid+ player, minimap is just a general direction on where an event is taking place. I personally didn't even noticed the change. So, if you wanna satisfy everyone, then change it back.

I watch from a Laptop. The changes bork the minimap on my view. I find the minimap is a valuable part of the experience, but it's especially important with 4+ players. in a 2v2 like this, the graphics upgrade is better, but in those larger matches the more readable minimap makes it easier for me to follow. I'll still be here either way though, you're quite the caster.
I like the mini map because it looks more precise. At first I didn't, but then I did. Superior video quality is worth the minor sacrifice here, either way. Game looks awesome, especially with a lot of the graphical updates. But some of them seem a bit too much. Like the terror drone stasis lightning. It hurt my eyes a bit. Kind of clouds the action in some cases too.

Watching on my phone, sometimes my ten inch tablet while eating breakfast or supper.
PC 1920x1080 monitor. Watch in either 1080p or 1440p. The small icon look a bit funky but it's nothing too serious.
This is my work time entertainment, almost exclusively a phone viewer, sometimes I'll catch a game at home on my second monitor.

I usually watching this on my lunch break in theater mode on my 22" monitor via PC, or full screen on my 9.7" iPad, or sometimes on my 55" TV full-screen via my PS4 in the evenings.
Does the smaller minimap icon size bother you in any of those situations?
Usually I watch on my phone but idc about resolution and all that stuff you said buddy. As long as I can see what's happening IDC about all that extra stuff.

I watch at 720 in the standard box size on a 24" 1440p monitor. I live in the boonies, and I don't feel like downloading this to watch in 4K, so suto-HD streaming it is.
For those interested, the standard viewing box is 12.5 inchs, at 720 simulated, give total PPI density of 117, only slightly below my monitors optimal use of 122.
I have played Red Alert 2 since 2001. Not sure I want to go with 3 after watching a bunch of these vids.

Resuming development of the other version of Generals 2 doesn't make sense for many reasons, but a new Generals 2 would be sick.

I think you can cast any game played in the last 4 years. Its not like the game was rebalanced or maintained all these years.
I prefer to cast recent games if I can, but definitely not opposed to pulling up some older matches.

P.S. answering your question - I watch on 10" tablet and icons on minimap are hard to read. The quality of recording is awesome, btw.

I'm watching your videos in 1080p on a 42" plasma TV while doing my daily workout. Most people probably use smaller monitors though. The minimap is fine, but I do wonder how you make the videos turn into 60fps considering that the C&C games are frame locked to 30fps - I'm guessing it's just post processing.

I was wondering. I used to spam hammer tanks due to their special ability the leech beam. And the way I quickly destroy buildings is turning on and off and repeat that until I get the job's done. Is this not possible anymore?

I watch these either on my phone or on my 65" 4k tv. On both screens the 'new' minimap is kinda annoying yo me, as quite often i do look at the minimap to see thing planning out and units moving about, checking oils etc

I don't care about squished icons in the slightest, i watch on a 27" 1440p and it's nice to have an option, but 1080p ain't that bad either.

Is Harlen - Deep.Dark.Fantasy?
At the time when I watch a game with Soviet in it, there are some things that I don't understand:
1) Almost no player drops a crane especially at the early game. Why? Is it not the meta? The crane is a second construction building and a free repair station for the armor division. Why does it not exist?
2) Twinblades is great in offensive as well as in logistics. It can transport every land units there is. Instead of shooting through the walls, Harlen could've sneak the tanks in with the twinblades. Why didn't they do that? I understand there's tangus but some bullfrogs and migs could've shoo them away, right?
3) Is kirov spam not a thing? I know its a big, expensive, and time demanding strategy to do. But come on, at least 7 kirovs can end a base so quickly. I understand the constant harrasment and the swarm of tangus. But come on. Would love to see a fleet of kirovs above the enemy's base here.
I'd like to hear what people think about my opinion. I just feel like the Soviets could've done better in some ways so I would like to have a discussion about it.
1- crane is too big of a investion, especially in early game were you need those credits, and repairs is a situational thing
2- too big of a risk, if you lose a twinblade with a tank its a devastating waste of credits, and they are too weak plus take too long to drop their stuff, even with migs and bullfrogs the tengus would just sacrifice to kill those twinblades and would be a win economically for dimon
3-no, even 1 kirov is a big risk due to their cost, making more would make it impossible for him to be able to keep up with the constant harrasment and keeping the enemy army in control from just rushing their way into his base
I usually have the same thoughts but you have to keep inmind that they're playing with 10k start-cash and not 40k or even 30k...
The issue is that 4 kirovs is enough to decimate their eco in the first 2 mins, imagine them just spawning 4 kirovs without anything else as a miracle they still wouldnt win... Now add up the superplant the battle lab the airfield the initial reactor and the ore refinery. On top of that the enemy could just build tengus!
The crane is not necessary with 10k cause youre not going to be building that much in the first place and as repair its not worth it to move all troops back to get health when they're guarding a position.
So the twinblade spam could work as long as they're carrying bullfrogs and dropping them at the right moment but dimon should be able to destroy them at first glance judging from his experience. I know I would and I've been playing since 2009 nearly 10-20 matches a week but I've never managed to play an actual online match and all the games I've been playing against others was with my mates in e-spots with 40k start ALWAYS!
My question is why on earth wouldnt they play with 40k start in the first place??? At least a few matches?
@@bruno5564 Its a shame that Soviet's repair system demands a whole other bulding. Its a clear disavantage over the enemies. And for the twinblades & kirov issues it really sounds like the Soviets are a high risk high reward kind of faction. And its a shame that the meta of spamming cheap units crushes that strategy..

@@danielcollins7414 no not really, soviets are a faction that is strong at early game, they have terror drones who can be extremelly effective at harrasment and support big armies, twinblades are good hit and run units, bears are great anti infantry due to twice as much health as dog while still being great scouts, hammer tanks can outrange pretty much any tier 2 with the beam and even any kind of tier 1 deffensive turrets, their cheap infantry is great for spamming and are the best at cleaning up buildings.
They have many options and much of their stuff is cheap, their downside is mainly their tier 3 is weak compared to other factions

The Icons are indeed quite small. Watching on 720p (secondary Monitor) to 1440p60 (main Monitor), depending on whether I game myself or am dedidcated to watching. Sometimes I watch on my phone, which has the same issue of small icons.

Yes, you just have to explain what you're talking about. If you're referring to old GameSpy passwords you should know that system is gone and it's been replaced with a community run alternative C&C Online: cnc-online.net
you can play on the lan service of gameranger too if you are *not* using the steam edition (with win 10).

@@neonknight-1522 I mean, it depends on the map. On small 1v1 map game can last for 20 min. Still we're talking about average RA3 owner. Now I see he stated "average good player" but its nonsense because you can't be "average" and "good" player at the same time :)
Guys I have question about lan games over vpn. Any improvments espacially snyc and speed issues according to revora connection
game will still run at the slowest computers speed if internet isn't a bottleneck between players, out of sync errors will still occur from net and pc speed problems. You could try it though, but if you play with the same people you will likely face the same issues.
(this is my experience between gameranger and revora at least, don't know if other vpn/tunnel lan network tools introduce issues)

With how common tengu harvester harassment is why don't more soviet players automatically put down a tesla coil next to their refineries when fighting against japan? Seems like it'd be much more cost effective in the long run.
In many cases it would be cost effective in the long run, but two things:
1. Players generally want the money now and spending $3K-$6K on tesla coils cuts out a big chunk of your army in thee short turn which might lead to losing the game.
2. If you do drop a tesla coil players might not realize the return on investment because the Empire will just not transform their tengus or they'll bring choppers to kill the coil first.
as sybert said but additionally: base defences are static, armies can apply pressure / defend. enemy can ignore the tesla area and attack base elsewhere.
exceptions to this are maps where a base defence may defend multiple refs / positions / objectives. allies can have a queued defence turret which is much more flexible for quick response. other cases are using defences offensively in a base push forcing your position.
@@EDcaseNO Yeah I get that and agree. My point was specifically about tengu harvester harassment and how common it is. Watching more games I think I get it though. Seems fairly common for a soviet player to drop a coil on far away refineries but leave the main ones alone. Better to gamble that you can armor them up and defend them with your local forces to save the money.
@@oneirishgiant8295 i'm pretty bad at RA3 and only play emp, but yes. walling one side of a ref usually better vs emp than full box. also the T1 defense is enough to ward off tengus usually in combination with the harvs armour.

honestly the map thing does not bother me at all, sure mini map is important but my focus is on the things that happen where you're currently at.
