BEcause the idol industry is exactly like that, if you disappear people will forget and and move onto the next idol. and you should've known her backstory, she was very lonely and she didn't have a mother. her dad worked very hard. and like so she would always watch idol shows! The actress here for Junko (who also voiced Kaede in V3) just suddenly passed away. I’m not sure exactly what to say but I’m glad we have her performance shared here for so many people to enjoy.
Sayaka Kanda was an amazing actress and singer. I really wish she had received the help she needed... I will never forget how talented she was, she was the best Junko we could have ever had for the stage play.
Okay, I know the dancing Monokumas are a little out there, but seriously - this play was genuinely great. The changes they made to the source material were not only logical, they added so much; Taka, for instance. Instead of dying as a victim, he dies giving his life for his literal dying trust in Mondo, refusing to lose faith in him and see him as a murderer, as a blackened. The acting is also just great - the final lines shared between Mondo and Taka's actors really knocked it out of the park with the bittersweet tragedy of the case as a whole. Another example would be Celes; her death and actions were handled pretty well, showing her to be as opportunistic, crafty and devious as all fans would know her. Her actress was also really good at showing that this entire killing game was, in reality, just another day for her. Another day to get excited by the odds, to exploit your circumstances and your opponents, to prevail despite the odds - this is particularly noteworthy when she creates this dilemma as to whether she killed Sakura or whether Sakura killed herself. Even as she dies, she revels in death the thrill of chances, of luck and of circumstance. In my opinion, it's a true depiction of Celes' mindset. Holy shit though, we cannot forget the costume design. Like, they nailed Naegi, Kyoko, Celes, Chihiro, Sayaka, Mondo, Taka, Hagakure and Fukawa. The rest either just have slightly off hairstyles, but at this point I'm nitpicking - serious kudos to the costume designer, because making these (especially Celes') could not have been easy. As a minor note, I also liked the way they got out the trial podiums. I just thought it was neat! Honestly, as weird this sounds, I genuinely think they nailed Danganronpa One with this play. I'm kind of amazed it was so good. Like, genuinely, I was expecting the acting to be off, the costumes to look weird and out of place and for the line delivery to just not be as enjoyable as in the game. But I was wrong, and I couldn't be happier.
I completely agree. Some of the changes were incredibly welcome and the way it was adapted for the stage was incredible. The main thing I like is that every person has to vote correctly, because people who vote wrote will die regardless. It creates a good reason as to why they over explain everything in the game-because if even one person misunderstands, that persons blood will also be on Makoto's hands
I only had one complaint about Celeste: I assume the blackened doesn't get killed if they vote wrong, so why wouldn't she vote for Sakura? Either way she lives right? I don't take her as the insane sort of gambler who would risk her own life when she didn't need to... though this is really nitpicky XD

This version of Celestia is way better than the game's version. Her trial seemed strange and a bit too obvious for me which was not really fitting for a character like her. This version played with her talent as the ultimate gambler and still included her being wrong AND lying to everyone. She could have won with the help of Lady Luck and that's perfect for her!
I agree Chapter 3 sucked so much in the game because of how painfully obvious she was from the start when she got "hit". It was painful to deal with the entire chapter for the genius gambler. It honestly pissed me off on my 1st playthrough.
I agree and disagree. Although celeste seems like an awful person to the core she really isn't. Was this trial more interesting and well written , yes; but the things she says to sakura wouldn't likely happen. I love seeing this more despair side of her though. I hated trial three but I liked the way they portrayed her more in the original. However thats just my opinion
i am madly in love with taka, leon, and mondo here. it really feels like the actors put their all into those roles and really nailed the emotional beats, i almost cried for all three of them
Honestly I’m impressed with the acting for all of them plus Celeste. Each of their executions were shockingly emotional (special mention to poor Leon; the actor really did a good job conveying how utterly terrified he must’ve been). Certainly helps that they went out of their way to make the killers more sympathetic here (Leon’s fear, Mondo and Taka’s bromance without the b, Celeste and Hifumi actually being completely innocent this time etc.)
1:33:53 this scene is so heartbreaking because if you remember from the game, Taka revealed that he wished he could’ve stopped Mondo from killing Chihiro when he thought the air purifier was a time machine and when he asked if alter ego hated him for not being able to prevent the murder from happening. So here, for a brief moment, you see a symbolic representation of Taka wishing he could’ve stopped him
I actually genuinely cried during that whole scene, like... wow man, I didn't think they could make Taka's story anymore sad than it already was but they DID?
I'd just like to say that this play, though different from the plot of the game, was a very nice interpretation. I understand that there's only so much time to tell a story in a theatre setting, but this was quite lovely. I really appreciated every part of it. The costumes were spot on, and I really loved the way each actor was unafraid to commit to their choices and become the character, in a sense. The portrayals, from where I sit, were well done, and I really did love the moments where everything seemed to slow the emotion could be felt. (Not that I didn't appreciate the higher energy moments, because I did). But, as someone who is long time fan of the game, I really just wanted to leave a nice comment about what an experience this was. My hope (lol) would be that America feels strongly enough to create its own stage play of the franchise. It probably won't happen now, but I'd love it to be so. (Getting involved in a project like this sounds like a dream). Well done to everyone, and thank you for posting and sharing it with us.
I have experienced through the game so many time, and this play is honestly refreshing. Especially when the Actor snd Actress committed to their role and act like it.
UltimateLolita :3 ... they could improvise them, like: A) Leon's death would replace the baseball cannon with a leaf blower one of the monokuma would use, and with some “baseball cannon” nsx they could kinda show him dying. Also, the monokuma dancers will try to grab Leon and then put him straight near a pole. B) Mondo (and white Captain) death's would just taken away to those “spinning” rooms, and show from the tv, an edited version of his video game death, but with the inclusion of white captain, and then, one of the monokuma would dance with a hula-hop. Finally the “butter” be out, but as a special edition with 4 times the fat. C) Celeste death would just be the same, some “fake” fire (aka, really long paper scrolls being blown up with her stacks would appear, but then, two monokumas, and hifumi (Now dressed as a fire truck) would dash around the stage until colliding into Celeste, the stage will go black, and then, they would be gone.
i thought togami switched the locker room interiors and display genders for the sake of making the trial more difficult or whatever ?? 😧 at least in the anime he did

Mondo feels guilty for killing Chihiro and wants to keep their promise between men, so he moves Chihiro's body to the girl's locker room to keep his secret. Then he moves the carpet and poster so that the bloodstains are in the girl's locker room as well. After Mondo leaves, Byakuya strings up Chihiro's body and writes on the wall with his blood.

Thoughts: Leon, Hifumi, Aoi, Celeste and Junko are the best parts Sayaka thinks a knife is a gun Chihiro is played by Miu's VA Junko is played by Kaede's VA (I think, I know she played her in one of the versions) If you vote wrong you die
@@nevergonnagiveyouup1180 Yup, Kodaka loved her here, so she was cast to play as Miu in V3. And needless to say, she initially was unsure if she'd perform well, but people loved her character and that boosted her confidence in the role.

Okay, I know the dancing Monokumas are a little out there, but seriously - this play was genuinely great.
The changes they made to the source material were not only logical, they added so much; Taka, for instance.
Instead of dying as a victim, he dies giving his life for his literal dying trust in Mondo, refusing to lose faith in him and see him as a murderer, as a blackened. The acting is also just great - the final lines shared between Mondo and Taka's actors really knocked it out of the park with the bittersweet tragedy of the case as a whole.
Another example would be Celes; her death and actions were handled pretty well, showing her to be as opportunistic, crafty and devious as all fans would know her. Her actress was also really good at showing that this entire killing game was, in reality, just another day for her. Another day to get excited by the odds, to exploit your circumstances and your opponents, to prevail despite the odds - this is particularly noteworthy when she creates this dilemma as to whether she killed Sakura or whether Sakura killed herself. Even as she dies, she revels in death the thrill of chances, of luck and of circumstance. In my opinion, it's a true depiction of Celes' mindset.
Holy shit though, we cannot forget the costume design. Like, they nailed Naegi, Kyoko, Celes, Chihiro, Sayaka, Mondo, Taka, Hagakure and Fukawa. The rest either just have slightly off hairstyles, but at this point I'm nitpicking - serious kudos to the costume designer, because making these (especially Celes') could not have been easy.
As a minor note, I also liked the way they got out the trial podiums. I just thought it was neat!
Honestly, as weird this sounds, I genuinely think they nailed Danganronpa One with this play. I'm kind of amazed it was so good. Like, genuinely, I was expecting the acting to be off, the costumes to look weird and out of place and for the line delivery to just not be as enjoyable as in the game. But I was wrong, and I couldn't be happier.

I completely agree. Some of the changes were incredibly welcome and the way it was adapted for the stage was incredible.
The main thing I like is that every person has to vote correctly, because people who vote wrote will die regardless. It creates a good reason as to why they over explain everything in the game-because if even one person misunderstands, that persons blood will also be on Makoto's hands
I only had one complaint about Celeste: I assume the blackened doesn't get killed if they vote wrong, so why wouldn't she vote for Sakura? Either way she lives right? I don't take her as the insane sort of gambler who would risk her own life when she didn't need to... though this is really nitpicky XD

This version of Celestia is way better than the game's version. Her trial seemed strange and a bit too obvious for me which was not really fitting for a character like her. This version played with her talent as the ultimate gambler and still included her being wrong AND lying to everyone. She could have won with the help of Lady Luck and that's perfect for her!
I agree Chapter 3 sucked so much in the game because of how painfully obvious she was from the start when she got "hit". It was painful to deal with the entire chapter for the genius gambler. It honestly pissed me off on my 1st playthrough.

Was this trial more interesting and well written , yes; but the things she says to sakura wouldn't likely happen. I love seeing this more despair side of her though. Honestly I’m impressed with the acting for all of them plus Celeste. Each of their executions were shockingly emotional (special mention to poor Leon; the actor really did a good job conveying how utterly terrified he must’ve been). Certainly helps that they went out of their way to make the killers more sympathetic here (Leon’s fear, Mondo and Taka’s bromance without the b, Celeste and Hifumi actually being completely innocent this time etc.)

I'd just like to say that this play, though different from the plot of the game, was a very nice interpretation. I understand that there's only so much time to tell a story in a theatre setting, but this was quite lovely. I really appreciated every part of it. The costumes were spot on, and I really loved the way each actor was unafraid to commit to their choices and become the character, in a sense. The portrayals, from where I sit, were well done, and I really did love the moments where everything seemed to slow the emotion could be felt. (Not that I didn't appreciate the higher energy moments, because I did). But, as someone who is long time fan of the game, I really just wanted to leave a nice comment about what an experience this was. My hope (lol) would be that America feels strongly enough to create its own stage play of the franchise. It probably won't happen now, but I'd love it to be so. (Getting involved in a project like this sounds like a dream).

UltimateLolita :3 ... they could improvise them, like:
A) Leon's death would replace the baseball cannon with a leaf blower one of the monokuma would use, and with some “baseball cannon” nsx they could kinda show him dying. Also, the monokuma dancers will try to grab Leon and then put him straight near a pole.
B) Mondo (and white Captain) death's would just taken away to those “spinning” rooms, and show from the tv, an edited version of his video game death, but with the inclusion of white captain, and then, one of the monokuma would dance with a hula-hop. Finally the “butter” be out, but as a special edition with 4 times the fat.
C) Celeste death would just be the same, some “fake” fire (aka, really long paper scrolls being blown up with her stacks would appear, but then, two monokumas, and hifumi (Now dressed as a fire truck) would dash around the stage until colliding into Celeste, the stage will go black, and then, they would be gone.
While most of the costumes were spot on, Kyoko's isn't quite right. Doesn't she wear a lavender jacket, not a magenta one?

Mondo feels guilty for killing Chihiro and wants to keep their promise between men, so he moves Chihiro's body to the girl's locker room to keep his secret. Then he moves the carpet and poster so that the bloodstains are in the girl's locker room as well. After Mondo leaves, Byakuya strings up Chihiro's body and writes on the wall with his blood.
