  • I was having intermittent stalls and loss of power under load, ie when I had over two people on board or when going up steep hills, the fuel filter replacement solved the problem.

I just got a used 2017 Mule 4010 Trans 4X4. This video was super helpful, the fuel filter I pulled out was seriously clogged! I can't believe it even started! Running silky smooth now, thanks!

Thanks for the question and it's a good one, I had similar issues with loss of power under load. Replacing the filter significantly improved performance. The problem was intermittent, sometimes my mule would even stall out. The filter change helped!

Hmmm mine is diesel.. assuming I have a few filters to replace... Damnit :P These mules are fking work horses... 4000 hours on the one I have and other than the filters needing changed it runs fine. I'm wondering if it has internal and external filters now. I need a damn book!

What were the issues , or was that just a regular maintenance job ?? Mine is fuel injected& has total loss of power past mid throttle sputters backfires etc. In neutral it runs fine smooth wide open , but once it's under load it falls on its butt , any suggestions ?? Thanks !!

@@donbrown5414 At about 1/8 on the fuel gauge I pulled gas out of the tank looking for water and there was none so I pulled the pump , took it apart , and the filter was horrible so I cleaned it with B-12 blew it dry & it helped a bit , but I just feel it may be the pump , I've been told that pressure to injector rail should be 34-40lbs. Running a hose from the pump outlet into a container for a make-shift test to check flow pressure I know it was no where near that , I believe it is the pump !! Thank you for your reply back !! 👍🏻

I am having the exact same problem. I replaced the fuel filter and it's a no go.

@@strangus Try this .... pull the throttle body & clean it good until it shines , remove and clean airflow sensor with B-12 , then remove the crankcase ventilator hose from the throttle body inlet , plug the T.B. inlet with a cap etc. But not the hose coming directly out of the engine itself because it has to breath and relieve internal pressure. See if you get an improvement or total fix , the slight oil blowby leaching into the throttle body from that hose is probably contaminating the airflow sensor sending it into a lean condition !!?? Horrible design by Kawasaki , & I believe there was a recall to fix that problem at no cost !! Mine cleared up and ran fine after doing that , I made a catch-can out of an old aluminum beer bottle , it seemed to leach & mist out about 2 oz. Of oil every 10 hrs. or so of moderate operation on this engine that has 580 hrs. on it !! Hope that helps !! 😎👍

Hey man, how do you change the battery out? I can't figure this out... there are brackets and welded pieces everywhere in the way... super annoying!

I have a 2018 and I just removed the plastic piece by the E Brake. It was a few Philips screws and a few push connectors and the battery came right out after removing that

My dfi light is on and it don't want to start without me giving it gas and I pulled the back spark plug boot off and there's no change in the running of the murder but then I pulled the front one off and it shuts off would you know what that might be

Sounds like your mule is running on one cylinder, ie if when you pull the back spark plug wire off there is no change in how the motor is idling/running?? That cylinder isn't doing anything. Looking at the schematic in the manual it appears there are separate ignition coils for each cylinder. So to troubleshoot I would first see if its possible swap the spark plug wires and see if the fault stays with the back cylinder, if the fault stays with back cylinder, then the coil or the electronic control module are the problem. If you don't have an ohmmeter to test the coil swap them around as wee. I have never worked on the ignition system yet, so to be honest I am not sure if the ignition coil/wire are an integral unit, if they are a single unit, you won't be able to just swap the wires they way I am suggesting. If you can be get me your email address I send a bit more info.

@@donbrown5414 Thanks, mine is acting up, I am thinking it is fouling in the throttle body from sucking out of the crankcase. I ordered an oil catch kit to see if that will fix it.
