Hey Lunar! The High Profile Transport was not based on the Pilgrim's Curiosity. I guess I just love the industrial exposed component style and Nasa-Punk. It actually got a little tricky at first when I worked on the warship as I realized that these two ships have two entirely different design languages, which felt understandable by their purposes but by adding the orange canisters into the warship it all seemed connected again.
Hey Aragath, I really like your ships, I'm thinking about making some "early prototech" designs, simple spacecraft with radiators and solar panels, and their armor is suspended heavy armor plates that provide limited protection. Though I think SE is missing blocks for realistic (and immersive) docking of spacecraft to stations or other spacecraft. I have an idea for their designs, but I'm not quite sure how to actually add them to Space Engineers myself as a mod, though I plan to create visual concept models, and share them. Docking Ports would effectively function as a hollowed out Connector block to allow players to walk through them, rather than transferring components (except the 3x3 version) They would make it possible for vessels to dock to each other or to stations seamlessly whilst also providing an airtight seal between grids. 1x1 "Docking Port" 3x3 "Large Docking Port" with conveyor ports for resource transfer, though the passageway for players to walk through would be the same as the 1x1 version. Passage Tubes would be airtight and hollow pistons to allow the extension of Docking Connectors for otherwise unsuitably shaped ships. They would come in the same sizes as the Docking Connectors, except no versions for small grids. Perhaps different variants, like a basic kevlar/rubber accordion version, a fancy glass tube, or an armored version. 1x1 "Passage Tube". 3x3 "Large Passage Tube." New hinge passageways could be made to allow for the flexibility of the Docking Tubes, and would allow players to create the space equivalent of airport jetways. Also, for visually realistic maneuvering, RCS thrusters should be introduced allowing ships to maneuver in a similar way as a gyroscope, but with the RCS thrusters rotationally and linearly maneuvering the ship as a "low tech" but potentially more effective alternative to gyroscopes. Z could disable their rotational dampening, as it does with inertial dampening.
the big warship is a total monster .... i had a really fun time takin that down people should take notes on this .... that thing took 5 player missiles to the face and still kept coming O.o
lol, missiles never were a big deal, they packed a bigger punch in the past wwhen the only alternatives wwere gatlings/player made weapons, but if you wanna hit hard you have to "spam" artillery or railguns
Just make a nuclear missile. I’m on Xbox and I’ve been testing the capabilities of using a large amount of floating explosive items inside self built missiles. 999,999 artillery shells can destroy a scary amount of heavy armor.
Small grid fixed assault guns are amazing when massed. You can fire them inbetween the spaces of blast door blocks and you can fit way more DPM in a small space.
Those first 3 ships aren't bad on their own but when they are hitting you 4-6 at a time they can easily overwhelm you. Also Factorum has drones, one of which is a twin railgun small grid that keeps distance from you and I've had to fight two of them at once
such a pain those drones are, specially when they spawn or are created constantly on the bioresearch lab encounter, had to go back raging every 5 minutes or so cause my ship wasn't able to deal with them cause the sheer range small grid railguns have, they are agile enough to dodge most artillery fire, destroyed like 15 of them in total, my ship was punctured, no other encounter hurt my ego that bad, the cost of killing them was too damn high
The Factorum Warship also "launches" three missiles from time to time. Small little thing that's hard to track and kill unless you're well covered with PDCs.
Summarizing: high armor and firepower, low speed and maneuverability. Best tactics: drones/rockets with warhead, nimble fighter with cannons for dps, bomber with detachable warheads, gravity well.
Faced off with a Warship a few days ago... arrogantly figured I'd give it a fair chance so went in with shield off (modded game... obviously). I won but lost half my ship, both refineries, four out of five jump drives and everything except the two batteries and gyros on the warship was toast. Everything in the bay there to loot were toasted by my turrets. Salvaged what I could and limped away but those artillery turrets were knocking me around so much I couldn't get good shots. Only got hit by the railgun once but it was after my heavily armored area (drives/refineries and batteries) had been softened up and it cored the area killing three of the four jump drives I lost in one hit. Since then I've been gathering resources to build myself one of these beasts.
I'm here for the inside info; my friend and I just play a private survival world - just mostly having fun building - but eventually I do want to get into prototech eventually without abusing admin rights
The most dangerous of the small grids is the two stage missile. It spawns in that one Factorum storage depot with all the ship debris around it inside the debris that looks like small grain silos. They're armed with warheads and zig-zag when they fly so they can make it past most large turrets and hit like a hammer. I had one punch a hole clean through my salvage ship after i cleaned up all the drones and assumed everything up to the front door was cleared out so i was coming in slow with my turrets shut off when that little monster slowly drifted out of it's hiding spot then suddenly went hot. I had time to switch my turrets on and they got a couple of volleys out but the missile dodged all of their fire and hit my ship dead center. Now, every time i see debris around those factorum bases i'll stay back and circle them in a very cheap remote controlled drone just to make sure there's nothing inside. Aside from the exploding fungus pods that easily has to be one of the worst jump scares SE has ever given me.
1: I can't speak for the other ships, but the High Profile Escort has a function where if its weapons are disabled, it automatically initiates a RAM (started via an event controller) 2: assault cannons actually have better dpm against spaced heavy armor 3: SPOILER ALERT- on the Warship, there is a war head hidden in the base of the fin just below the aft thrusters, right in between the two underslung tanks made of armor blocks. Presents a high risk of losing prototech gyros or batteries
I already made the 4 "pilotable" ships more survival friendly. The "freighter" needs the most work do to some AI (and a few structural) blocks are not airtight (cockpit/bridge) and needs at least 1 extra air vents at the rear ( lucky there's room without making any noticeable change to upgrade the conveyor system) 2-2 extra thrusters up/down, and than just connect the 2 large cargo containers at the airlock, replace the 2 external conveyor covers with connectors, and it's ready to be a usable ship. The 2 large grid escort ships/drones work well as parasite fighters just set up a timer-block to detach and activate the thrusters and the AI blocks (+ add extra thrusters to be more dangerous (optional)). But of the space grids, that "logistics station" is the easiest to capture, only a few interior turrets and 2, single turret satellites; just mind the 4 warheads (careful the way I remember it's not set up to be a station, similarly to the listening post and CAN drift away).
My first time encounter was against the warship it did a number on my ship but I managed to come out as the victor. Fortunately it’s relatively intact so im hauling it back to base to repair repaint and refit it to be part of my fleet. Because after all “to the victor goes the spoils”.
I think the lack of gatling turrets will make custom made warhead missiles or bombs the best way to deal with these ships. You just throw a missile corvetter out there that can launch custom made, mass producable guided missiles that just smash into the ships over and over again. And you can stay out of the 2km death range of these ships.
As someone who plays as the infiltrator and hacking style of combat in SE, I can corroborate that these ships are a PAIN to handle, first time I saw the warship I noeped the hell away from it!!!! Unlike the Space pirates that are more passive, these ships are more ACTIVE in their aggression, using the AI combat blocks to avoid getting boarded.
not that I can truly claim ownership of a style but... the overhang panel style and most of the interior design feels very reminiscent of my ship, which in my humble opinion is (was) very unique feels kinda nice
I suppose if you are running endgame equipment yourself the basic trick to beating these remains the same as always: have higher range! We can still outclass the artillery turrets with railguns. Maybe with a zippy fighter or a custom railgun turret or two we can take out the weaponry and after that it’s business as usual. Edit: or maybe we need to have a look at printed missiles.
as a person who charges at ships with naught but a jetpack and grinder those bigger ones are gonna be so easy to approach with the lack of gattling or external interiors

I have studied the component locations on two ships and am now confident (100% on the factorum warship encounter) that if I can get on board I can safely disable them without causing any significant damage to the vessel, resulting in the ability for it to be 100% salvageable.
I found this video trying to find out how the AI on the ships are set up particularly the battleship because I want to recreate it I don't believe I'm able to spawn it into the fact I own none of the DlC
imagine IF one could gain positive rep with the Factorum... pretty sure we can't.. yet.. but imagine getting good rep and being able to simply fly up to one of these ships and just take it over with no fight...
Even if you set yourself to neutral or max good rep with the f10 menu as soon as you grind or damage a block they immediately start lighting you the hell up 😂 I've tried
@@axialivanov6101 IF i remember, there is always the option to enter the menu and change ownership with NO grinding... the rep would simply be used to get close without getting shot up....

Yes, it is more on Microsoft as for the delay as they have to test everything before release. There is also at least one smaller drone I did not see and is armed with an assault cannon. I have been grabbing bps of each ship so I can study them before I take them on.

The largest one I jumped too the other day with my near complete battlecruiser named GEA Victory, her shields was fully down and she let's just say made the NPC ship basically completely written off with very little damage done to the Victory herself. 💀
Getting my ass handed to my by the high profile drone, they have ai combat blocks so the rail gun and biggest cannon can shoot you from 2ks away and the turret right on front and too makes it super hard to hydro man
The recent update is REALLY unstable. Gpses being wiped, ships desyncing all over the place, performance issues and loading problems. it's understandable why microsoft are holding things back I play on an official server and some of the issues HURT

All ships have AI modules installed. I wonder if the ships are controlled only by these modules or if there are hidden capabilities? I have tested a lot of AI blocks with different behavior and have not seen anything that I had to deal with in combat. The ships are clearly more maneuverable than their design would suggest.
Lunar thank you for showing me ships I didn't know about the other ones yet I have came across the escort and the battleship excuse my language but holy s*** I brought my third biggest ship which I named the Hyperion ship station it's a ship that's supposed to look like a station when it's not in combat or moving it's supposed to stay stationary consumes all power from the Sun let me rephrase that it's recharges when it's not moving the ideal of the ship is posed to be solar dependent it has about I think 10 or 20 guns on it it's a space survival purpose ship it works well in combat but when I put it to the test against the factorial battleship and I brought five stingrays to fight with me armed with I think about six guns on each stingray the I found and refixed in creative. By the end of the fight there was the ship station and the stingray that was left we almost got our ass kicked I am just thrilled that we have new enemies to fight 😊😊:). One more thing thank you for making the video.
I really like these ships mostly due to how they look the creator of them is in need of praise for them. I had to cheat to steal a drill drone from them it's got a gatling gun and will suicide enemies LOL
The cruiser seems heavily inspired by the Nestorius, which was used in v1.186's trailer (ua-cam.com/video/vDwolUCSAmQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=SpaceEngineers) . In fact, it basically looks like somebody removed the middle section of the Nestorius and pasted together the two sides.
I remember watching a video (ua-cam.com/video/Dclnd0bvQl0/v-deo.html - this) which showed a Factorum Warship using subgrid torpedoes, but I didn't see any sign of those in this video. Are they actually present and if so where on the ship?
They are nice ships, but I'm kinda disappointed. Official servers are so PVP Heavy that they hardly compare to a mid tier ship. They don't seem end game at all. Biggest worry will still be other players at an encounter. Nobody needs to work together to fight them
As in, that thumbnail itself spoils the surprise. You could do black silhouettes or smth. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to research the subject, and publishing your findings.

I see what you mean. its the red ship right? it does have a comparable shape! Could be the same artist!
Its easily destroyable by using railway drone swarms, a small very fast drones with AI blocks set to Hit & Run
I’m building a massive cruiser, and by massive I mean mass lmao, it’s got Soooo much amour 😂😂😂
Its got mass in that ass!
The Factorum scare me.
*You should be scared*
