Simple, direct, beautiful. Thanks for posting. I’m thinking of a dear friend from college with whom I resumed a connection in recent years through Facebook. She died unexpectedly several months ago at the age of 73. God bless her.
I've heard several different performances of this song, some quite beautiful. But none more beautiful nor more touching than yours, Janene. Thank you so much for sharing this song and yourself with us.
This is so beautiful. I think a lot of arrangements try too hard to make it special, but what makes this one so nice is the simple yet beautiful arrangement, letting the dulcimer shine.
Shared between Scotland and Ireland in memory of my brother who died 2 years ago today in Bermuda. "Haven of rest".......thank you, beautiful.
I love the imagery of the lyrics.....so sorry for your loss!

Oh no, I'm sorry. So good to have reconnected though. I love being able to do that thru the internet.

Beautiful, thank you. sitting here weeping, remembering my wife
So sorry for your loss, it's lovely to remember, and hope your heart continues to heal.
Gorgeous!
Yeah...beautiful. good job! 👍
Just so happens that many of my family are resting in the yard of an old church, a very peaceful place to visit;-)
I really love this kind of music.
As ever, lovely. I have never before heard this old hymn and, oh, those words have a quiet power!
You must hear some other versions. I've links to 4 or 5 I really like. Terry Wilson at FOTMD mentioned it to me. The lyrics are special I think.

This is lovely, thank you for sharing. I love this song.
Well done Janene. I liked the mix of churchyards and lyrics in the video, too.
Dave
You are the greatest dulcimer musician in the world I think.
Thanks for this! Do you know the history/origin of the hymn? American? British Isles?
I believe British. It is referenced on several British Folk sites
why a yard on the old church whats the pourpose? agriculture? cemetery?
the "church yard" is a cemetery. This song is a hymn of comfort for those who mourn those who have gone to be with the Lord.
