Oh my Lord....is anybody else aware that these two women are angels????? That has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, sung by the two most beautiful women I've ever seen....I really mean that...I hope one day to hear them live!! Thank you for your beautiful music!!!
Pauline Scanlon is enchanting. Her clear, lovely voice and perfect diction grip one's heart and do not let go. What a great gift she is to the world of music.
Beautiful voice matches her beautiful face. So talented may Pauline continue to charm our ears for many a year to come . A treasure to the kingdom Greetings From Dublin
Hello Karen. Jesus but I cried so hard everyday after losing my sister, our beautiful Marian. The lady singing at the funeral mass had the decency and gift to learn this song and play it to perfection on the day we buried her amazing soul.
I love this version of this song the VERY BEST! Can you please record this with lyrics? I’d like to play this in Bible Study Class. Thanks for considering this 🥰🥰🥰🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👍
Come, come with me out to the old churchyard I so well know that paths 'neath the soft green sward Friends slumber in there that we wants to regard We will trace out their names in the old churchyard Mourn not for them, their trials are o'er And why weep for those who will weep no more? For sweet is their sleep, though cold and hard Their pillows may be in the old churchyard And I know that it's vain when our friends depart To breathe kind words to a broken heart And I know that the joy of life it is marred When we follow lost friends to the old churchyard But were I at rest 'neath yonder tree Oh, why would you weep, my friends, for me? I'm so weary, so wayworn, why would you retard The peace I seek in the old churchyard? Why weep for me, for I'm anxious to go To that haven of rest where no tears ever flow? And I fear not to enter that dark lonely tomb Where our Savior has lain and had conquered the gloom And I rest in the hope that one bright day Sunshine will burst through these prisons of clay And old Gabriel's trumpet and the voice of the Lord Will wake up the dead in the old churchyard
Stunning performance. The beautiful voices are perfect for this song. Does anyone know the name of the other vocalist? History of the song? My internet searches have not turned up much.
A lovely rendition. Beautiful and bittersweet. If you like this song, Jefferson Hamer and Eamon O'Leary also do a nice one. I have plenty of room for both versions in my playlists.
I can tell that there's some quality musicianship present here, just a bit overproduced for my taste, especially considering that this is a folk song. Don't hide behind the vocal processing so much. You've got a great voice let it shine. Beautiful song.
Daniel Knutson I can recommend listening to another version of this song by Pauline on www.independent.ie windmill lane sessions. Just her beautiful voice, piano and guitar
