Thank you for the clarity and enthusiasm of this lecture, and for your words in support of a suffering people. Science is not, as so often claimed, independent of morality or ethics: it requires intellectual honesty, and that compels us to acknowledge the crimes being committed the name of democracy in the Middle East.
@17:00 Is Neil aware of the Timescapes work? You might not need as much Λ as that, which would be good for his and Latham's theory since they can motivate a small positive Λ, but "as small as you like". Smaller being more natural.
@@1:28:00 while I think that is good advice for a young genius, most of us are not geniuses. But although it is extraordinarily difficult to stick to fundamental principles and come up with any new original insights, it is not so hard to study the work of people like Neil and Latham and expand it, but _more importantly_ if you like the work then you do not need to rush to contribute original papers, you should *teach the stuff!* I cannot emphasize this enough! We need teachers. Lots of them. (Not just -AI/LLMs- algorithms for spitting out strings by stochastic inference.) There is no end to the possible improvement in the art and craft of teaching.
@1:05:00 the spin number is not a good explanation, since it is just a symmetry representation index for a mathematical transform instruction (spinor or vector/pseudoscalar). The explanation for gravity has to be what "stuff" has the Poincaré symmetry. That stuff is 4D spacetime. No other. To ask "why?" beyond this you'll need to phone God. However, GR alone has no theory of particulate mass, unless we admit wormholes or gravity wave solitons, and that side of things is still not fully worked out in a geometric algebra framework. Though I think people like Latham Boyle, Anthony Lasenby and Cohl Furey are close to cracking that puzzle.
Literally bringing light in to a world of darkness, thank you Neil ☀️
Thank you cosmic good man . We love you.
