    Interesting how the lieutenant instead of being in charge of the truck, is more-so just an engineer.

      Christian Field Not really. Here where I live, most paid crews have a Sergeant and a Captain on them in addition to 1-3 other firefighters. The Sgt is the driver/engineer/operator and the captain is the company commander. The sgt would be equivalent to the rank of lieutenant

      @@ArmEConDoesMinecraft Interesting...I always thought Sergeant was equivalent to the rank of Senior Firefighter? I could understand it being the same as Lieutenant, and yeah, a lot of big departments have Captain’s as the charge officers. But I will say, I’ve never seen anyone in the Lieutenant’s position be a driver before, definitely a first for me.

    For us over in San Mateo, CA...we have a Lt or Capt in the front passenger (taking radio, CAD and commanding the Engine/Truck/Squad) and an Engineer who drives, controls the water pumps and controls the ladder (if on Truck).

      In my local Dept, all the officers have to be qualified to drive the rigs. That way, if there's no chauffeur, the officer drives and the next-highest person takes charge.

      Wyatt Fisher Spartans are amazing! If you don’t like Spartans, your not a fire truck lover. All of our engines are on a Spartan chassis.

      Technically its not a spartan its a spartan evolution cab on a Rosenbauer chassis you can tell because rosenbauer puts their "R" logo on the pump, grill and seats.

      lil jinxer it’s the same way in all towns in my county, and some others as well. Denver has Lieutenants that don’t drive

    • @drussell710
      @drussell710 5 років тому

      On the career side it's not very common to see lieutenants driving but on the volunteer side when there could be several officers on one shift it's not uncommon to see a lieutenant drive the rig. I was lieutenant and the fire department for almost 10 years and I drove most of the time myself.

    • @centralnewyorkresponses7887
      @centralnewyorkresponses7887 4 роки тому

      Daniel Russell we never have that. You’ll usually see an engineer, or certified firefighter driving. Very rarely does my dad drive. He’s a captain.
