Hi Belinda, what is your take between BTMS-25 and Behentrimonium chloride as emulsifying agent and Conditioning agents in Conditioners and daily moisturizer?🙏
Don’t use behentrimonium chloride in anything other than wash off products; its also not natural so doesn’t suit ‘organic’ conditioner formulas. Thank you for watching. Doesn't the LexFeel N make up for the lack of slip? What about adding more cetearic alcohol. I'm sorry but I have coily hair, and I need ingredients with a maximum amount of slip. Any advise? Thank you.

Emulsense is, but it requires l-arginine for neutralising, which is not permitted by certifiers. But you could try it and see if you are happy with its performance if certification is not essential. Happy formulating!

Thank you for this video. I just want to make something clear, because i believe Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride can be used in cosmos organic certified products, since they are listed on Cosmos standard database
They contain a petrochemical moiety so are not completely natural/naturally derived and I left them out for this reason. In addition, COSMOS are reviewing that list continually and may remove it from being permitted at any time because of the petrochemical moieties which is why I did not include it. Full details can be found in appendix V of their standard (for other viewers who want clarification on this matter). Hope this helps.
hi belinda ..i just wish a reply that in cosmos or ecocert organic certification ..we need 95% organic approved ingredients so is this means we can use a 5% synthetic also ..thanks
No, you can only use what is on their approved list. I'm actually planning on filming a video 'is it really organic?' in the next day or so, stay tuned :)
Belinda... I have lots of questions about lots of things relating to formulations mainly because of the ingredients I'm use and the course of field I'm aiming for.... I really need help!! Please help!!!
No, it is intended for wash off and should be washed off. All performance studies for this material were based on wash off products and I've intended for it to be used the same way. Happy formulating!
If you are exposed to chlorine a lot from swimming (or even the ocean and UV for that matter) you would really benefit from more synthetic cosmetic conditioning and hair repair materials that have been developed for hair repair. The choice of conditioning agents for organic products is still somewhat limited.
Hi @@HennyStruik sulfates are strongly anionic and therefore strong repelling forces to assist with cleaning, but when formulated with mildness additives they are perfectly safe and suitable to use in personal care, even baby products. They shouldn't be used without non-ionic surfactants/emulsifiers but that is bad formulation principles anyway. The irritancy studies using sulfates use them at high concentrations on abraded skin without mildness additives, so its totally out of context compared to how we formulate with them properly. Please feel welcome to watch our other videos on formulating surfactants to see how a combination of surfactants should be used to enhance mildness and ensure suitable performance. Happy formulating, I hope this helps explain the science and background of the anti-sulfate campaign.
Much better hair today! You hair looks good.
I love this channel. Thank you for this. And you look so pretty with your hair down.

Thanks for this interesting video is it a leave on conditioner?

Is there any difference in formulation if it's a conditioner for swimmers?
If you are exposed to chlorine a lot from swimming (or even the ocean and UV for that matter) you would really benefit from more synthetic cosmetic conditioning and hair repair materials that have been developed for hair repair. The choice of conditioning agents for organic products is still somewhat limited.
Well, it may be organic but since Plantaquat NC contains sulfate I don't want it in my hair.
Why?
Chris R Because sulfates are bad for all kind of hair and for curly/kinky hair in particular.
