Guar gum does some thickening but not much. The cationic guar is in the formula to help with the conditioning mostly. The cetearyl alcohol is gonna do most of the thickening here.

a stick blender would cause too much foam & bubbles with the surfactant. You need to use a whisk or a stirrer that's low shear.
