A repeat of the World Cup Final played out at Twickenham on Saturday, and safe to say things did not go as expected, even for those watching the game, as an excellent England gave way to a dominant South Africa, only for the Springboks to lose it at the death. So how did England claim revenge, two years on?

When Lukhanyo finally gets his high-five from Mapimpi, we need a special edition video tracking the fascinating narrative arc and eventual redemption story
“Chasing the five”
I'm starting to think Mapimpi doesn't watch any game footage. How have they not figured out a way not to embarrass poor Am? 😂
"Chariot of Fire" needs to be played throughout this video.
I can't wait to watch the France vs All Blacks review. What a game it was.
@RACEL--$💋 tf is up with this bot lmao

Cannot wait for this!
I was hoping it came first. I'm still thrilled, every day I watch that blind crossed pass from ntammack to jaminet. I think I have a problem, rugby moves me too much.
thxs for the vid master squidge.
2:30 "knowing Ben Youngs has the ball, so it's probably best to watch the touchline" lmaaooo
Pain. We'll learn more from this loss than from a victory. Well played England and thanks for the vid Squidge.
I'd always back the Boks to finish a team off from the position they where on. The last 10 minutes is their strongest point I.m.o
No pain in losing to a young and exciting team by one point at their own home ground. Let's see how England fare in South Africa. Respect from England, always loved the Boks.
@@limbothytimothy Always gonna lose some occasionally when they play like they did this Autumn. Proper tight margins of their last 10 win 8 have been with in 5pts and 4 have been within 3.
Interesting that Mr Squidge could apply a forensic analysis to the level of spotting a missed High Five by Mr Am / Mapimpi… but he missed something as massive as controversial running onto pitch by Itoje / Lawes - before final whistle has been done and whilst game is still going. World Rugby laws say that last penalty should have been immediately reverse. Sadly smidge looks partisan in this analysis. Not his best one
Therefore,
@@tristansolero2159 Ah yes, because Manu* (not itoje) and Lawes running onto the pitch at the the end really swayed the outcome of the game.
"If a player re-joins or a replacement joins the match without the referee’s permission and the referee believes the player did so to gain an advantage, the player is guilty of misconduct. Sanction: Penalty." It's all down to the referee. The referee clearly didn't believe that it was being done to gain an advantage, so no penalty. It's pretty clear in the rules it only applies if the replacements try to interact with the game.
Hit the notification harder than Frans Steyn kicks the ball
Love the fact that most of the comments are about an other game. Very telling on what an amazing game All Blacks vs France was.
Its only bec French won once in 20 years
@@georgefrederikoosthuizen891 well true (i am French), but what a game !
@@0427alf yes we always love it (under dogs winnig) im sbok, but you let us stay no. 1, which wru and referees tried not to and ript sboks and ausies from winnig..., i thank french for help us stay no. 1😂, also yes hell of a good game, which french will do more consistent, mostly if play nz next week they fall apart.....

Great content once again Squidge!! Can't wait for your breakdown of France v All Blacks!
How did u watch the video so quickly, its only been 3 minutes
I think he stills needs some 'alone time' to process Ntamack's break & pass ;)
Goddamn, Squidge, dropping this just as I get into bed.
Hope you had a box of tissues with you! 💦
@@vonteflon I did, thanks. Was very useful for rubbing the sleep from eyes.
Englands fullback is solid. Without him, this weekend would have been a comfortable Bok win - in my opinion.
SA tactics were poor. No plan B. Once it became clear the fullback is solid, should have attacked elsewhere.
@@1oscarbravo I disagree, the Springbok game plan had England concede 18 or more penalties. It was working in terms of creating opportunities. The fact these opportunities weren't taken is another matter. Kicking accuracy was mediocre and the rolling maul wasn't firing when close to the try line. The Boks didn't play badly, England played brilliantly and won in front of their home crowd. Well done to them.
@@fohunter12345 No plan B. If you can't kick penalties, no point having a game plan set up to generate penalties. No ability to respond to changing conditions on the pitch.
@@1oscarbravo the Springboks scored one try and the rest of the scores came from penalties. If any of the missed penalties, missed conversion or other failed attempts at scoring tries when in the strike zone came off then the Boks would have walked away winners and nobody would be saying anything but singing their praises. Let's not throw out the baby with the bath water. I beleive the Boks need a fresh look at Fly half options and fullback. A bit of positive pressure from someone new like Chris Smith might be the spark to get more out of the incumbent options. On another day the boks could have easily walked away with a comfortable win over England.
@@1oscarbravo our plan B is to force our plan A to work, hence the second half.
But you're right. We failed with much of our attack. Our tactics in that regard were poor.
England full back is firing on all cylinders
Oh no I didn't even realise Am got left hanging AGAIN! Hurts more than the loss, honestly.
F Steyn is going to power on. I can see it now, he'll make it to the France wc just to show he's on par with M Steyn and probably kick a 50+ penalty at the death in a decider
since he's been back his form is only improving imo
As always a brilliant insightful analysis of not only the game but the season. Well done Rob
I feel an epic 6 nations and World Cup coming 🤤🔥
I genuinely think we may be looking at a golden age of rugby, I'm just praying World Rugby just leave the laws alone and refs let the teams play!
Nah, we're told that every time after autumn internationals and we're still waiting. That being said France and Ireland had a good run let's see them keep it up.
@@natecoet3291 its not that we've been told that, i think its because for the first time i can remember the top teams are so close in form. England, SA, AB's, Aus and Ireland could beat each other on any given day
@@spudy34 Better add France to that list, and Scotland could pull out a win against any of them as well on their day.
@@spudy34 not really, England barely edged an underpowered SA side on an end of the year season, they did well against Australia true. Wales who won the last 6 nations got smashed by NZ and struggled against a 14 underperforming Australian team. France did massively true but then faced only one top opposition, Ireland as well. But then again let's see when they start touring and back it up. Which I hope they do. But as of now I don't see those close margins as of yet. Even though there are some great victories no doubt.
Always excellent, thank you! Love your sense of humor!! 🤣
Great content as always! I hope your channel explodes come world cup time ! 👌🏼
Nice "amuse bouche" before the master piece France vs All black...
Where NZ even playing :)
Was the Half blacks
We all hate adverts mid content, but I have to admit I very much appreciate squidge's comedic transitions to make them less painful.
Loved the video mate. You make great content so please, keep on, keeping on.
Another fantastic analysis. Best analysis on the web and MSM 👏🏽
I had a beautiful time watching that squidge. Cheers.
Great video as always. Even the sponsorship plugs are good to watch!
Best if you from a smaller town in SA or NZ to adjust the playback speed to 0.25. I did and still had to pause the vid. We like it low and slow over here, let it all sink in. Respect to anyone who watches Squidge at max speed
Excellent, one of your very best, thank you!
Squidge showing his Welsh side, with "pip" in the title 😉
Great video as always
Another interesting breakdown. I hope the Boks watch your channel, mate!
I'm starting to think Mapimpi secretly hates Am
Great video. Superb analysis
Great analysis but can we all just appreciate how smooth that transition into the sponsorship was
Im a simple man, Squidge drops a joint, I watch.
Lovin' your work for a long time mate
How can someone call this revenge? Revenge is when you beat the same opponent in the final of the most important tournament every 4 years... i will repeat the words of George Greagan: "4 more years"..
Exactly, this talk of revenge is ridiculous
can't wait to watch the France vs All Blacks review !!!!!!
That was one quality ad segue. Epic
Also, I'd say from my perspective, this is one of the few times where England's high penalty count wasn't due to a serious of unforced errors that could've been avoided. A lot of the penalties England conceded especially in the second half were just simply a result of how tough it was competing with the Boks' physicality. It was brutal and bruising and England were doing everything they could to hang in there and ultimately did just enough thanks to a few missed kicks. Not a perfect performance by any means but it's yet another example of how Eddie Jones' England have historically been so good at 'winning ugly', doing just enough to secure a win. While England were bullied up front in the second half in particular, I'm sure Eddie knows this is by no means the finished final version of this England team yet they can still grind out a result against the world champions, one of their greatest bogey teams, and that is pretty exciting when looking forward to the World Cup in 2023.
I can't wait to see the sympatic Welsh V Australia review 👀
im so glad youre getting sponsorships!
Great vid as always but best line so far “kill a chinchilla with a flick!”😂
Not the game i was looking for but i'll take it ! Thanks you sir !
Thank you. Simply the best.
My god that transition was the smoothest I've ever seen
SQUIDGEY… what a surprise. That was super quick
Great point about Lukhanyo Am's defense (or I suppose, defence). I think it drives home the point that at the top level it's more important to execute the simplest skills perfectly than to have a full bag of tricks.
Can't be missing kicks when the penalty count is that high. Liked Lawes and that 15 was brilliant, but f*cking up those 3 pointers again and again killed the Boks chances.
I can't wait for the France one😌
Your segways to ads are *chef kiss* 🤌
I enjoyed Eddie's search tabs, good fun
I am just waiting for the France - New Zealand review!!!!!!!!!!
That is the best segway into an ad I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great explanation !
Really enjoyed this video! Its really refreshing to listen to an analysis purely focussing on the teams and their specific game plans/tactics, too often is has the discussion been marred around one side or another blaming referee's. I'm English but there have been so many complaints that SA were hard done by the ref, which then again makes our victory seem less impressive if true (although unlikely). Cheers to you for avoiding ref talk in your videos!
England were great but as a South African I’m still very confident after that game. I feel it’s no coincidence that squidge didn’t show the long range try from England. Might have something to do with the ref being in the way of Malcolm Marx forcing him to not be in place to make that tackle. I don’t blame the ref because even if he could position himself better he has to stand somewhere. Even if SA were a little hard done by we missed kicks we don’t normally miss aswell as made defensive mistakes that are very uncommon for the Boks. Good win England and well deserved but there’s a lot to improve on for both teams before the World Cup aswell as players to come back from injury.
@@yeayou1221 yeah true! Cant wait for the next clash. I'm pretty sure he showed all 3 tries?
@@spudy34 I can’t remember him showing the try from England off the back of a line out where they went straight through the middle of the boks defence to score. I might be wrong.
I would like to hear your analysis on the All Blacks following 3 defeats in the 4 big games of the year (sorry the Wales game wasn't one of those). Do you think it comes down to tactics or lack there of, the core players being in decline, a lack of respect for the head coach, something else or all of the above? As you can imagine there is lots of speculation and brow beating in the NZ media, only some of which I agree with.
the ads are so nicely tied in i hardly realise im watching an ad lmfao
He slided that add in smoothly
Top analysis.
"so how did england pip the books?" ...the ref. that's how
It still hurts losing by one point 😔 Great video!!!
We were terrible!! 3 missed kicks and two really good try scoring opportunities butchered (Kriel overrunning the Kolisi pass and the Etzebeth to Marx pass). The fact that we still only lost by 1 was in itself remarkable - absolutely no disrespect to England intended.
Also can't believe that Mapimpi dissed Lukhanyo again hahahahahaha!!
@@Karma-qt4ji you have the worlds best pack so you have the worlds best platform, you just need to trust your backs a bit more and let them run, because you still have quality and pace out wide - when faf is back with that sniping around the ruck, would make a big difference. That being said I am glad you did not use the refs as an excuse :)! Deserved no. 1.
@@Karma-qt4ji don't forget Kwagga's blunder, going completely alone into 4 players
@@mlguy8376 agree. Boks won 60% of their games 2021 bcos they only use 60% of their team.
@@MrBayren When he was held up over the line? Yeah I guess that qualifies as well but "blunder" might be a bit harsh lol - can we agree on "not well executed plan"? XD
Would be interested in a dive into how Eng play with Farrell on the pitch compared to not there. He is starting to look like a bench player this autumn.
Do France vs AB pleeeeeeeeeeeeeese ! 🥺
But great video as usual!
Great Vid
We finally got to see what Charlie Ewels looks like!
When Simons gets a cap then you know Eddie is throwing the kitchen sink at you
Great vid
Always a difficult one to watch how your team got beaten. Well played England.
Great game though. Still proud, especially after all the challenges they've had.
That sponsorship section was brilliant 😂
For the Tuilagi try, did anyone see why Kolisi called another defender to the blind side which was already overmanned ? Also what was May doing over there, was it to leave the wing free for MT who is the only England back with the power to hold off the drift ?
I love these analysis videos squidge, but do you think you could slow the speech down a bit? i have trouble following sometimes. but apart from that, love the content! keep it up!
The tabs on "Eddie's" browser during the add :D
Glorious
i wassss so hoping for the France new zeland game but I guess its coming!!!
When it comes, I will come
Well played England.
Nice analysis of the tries again, BUT sad that after England leading with 17 - 6 in the 24th Minute there was sheer dominance from the Springboks with so so many penalties conceded by the English was not mentioned and not to talk about the 8 points missed by kicks (in basis of questionable decision making of which at least 3 point would normally go through (imo there should some of them be kicked more to the lineout instead of trying to take 3 ) What would the analysis look like of it was a narrow won by South Africa? It would be neglecting a giv part of the game seeing this still respectful tactics and victory in respect to future top matches just looking at conceding (forced) penalites by England.
The Ntamack pass pod was FANTASTIC. Thank you for sharing the clips.
Also this video was great too!
"Oh its an advert" I genuinely thought that was just a really long skit hahaha
Would love to know your thought about Rassies punishments
i know he is English and all that but the way he says Kwagga is so funny to me😂good video👍🏼

Hey Squidge, not heard much about Ford lately?
I enjoy your videos so much I look forward to see how you’ll incorporate the sponsor into the video. And I hate in video advertising
England came out firing, well done. As painful as it was to watch that again, it’s important to learn how SA came improve their game.
Thanku
Robbie can you maybe licestream some of the six nations matches as I personally dont want to wait a week to see your reactions to the game
Great as usual. Squidge. Is a tight Lions series. 6 month Bio Bubble. No PSDT , Faf or Kolbe a factor in this one point game. ????anyhow. Good win for England. I Think more so than a Bok loss
Surprised the bok player got away with the strike to Itoje's head at 6:24...
He is pinning Duane down he was trying to push him off
@@L72fish he was getting up and it was clearly an open palm strike, Itoje taking his time getting up doesn’t benefit England’s defence at all so it was hardly intentional
I wonder to what extent COVID and being in bubbles have affected the players over the past two years. These guys (all teams) are probably exhausted and not playing to their full potential. Think next year will be epic and not without a few surprises. I think the Southern Hemisphere guys are going to come back much stronger next year.
poor old Am. One day.....one day.
What a compliment to Lukhanyo Am 10:13
Wait Eddie Jones may have bought a cloning kit, what's he going to do clone Tom Curry and name it Ben or something?
Only if Tom gets injured or covid, 'Ben' will come :')
Please start doing football reviews too, you’ll be huge in England!

Most painful thing from that's video is that it reminded me Elliot Daly was picked above Chris Harris in the lions
Squidge is sassy in this video, the welsh is coming out
I thought the same some Naughty digs at the English to make him feel better 🤣🏴
As a Welsh supporter, it’s going to be a very difficult game against England.
PLEASE DO FRANCE VS NEW ZEALAND!
I would like to see the boks improve their pick-and-go in opponent 22. more often than not it doesn't look threatening at all
Oh please, England was just damn lucky on the day
Oh ...please..please...please..With 3 tries to 1 a developing England made their luck with a side full of young guns relatively short on caps compared to the world champs. SA are worthy world champs indeed so well played to England.
You didn't mention the try down the middle, the one where the ref blocked Marx.
fun fact Rodd is from a small island called the Isle of Man
not sure if you have heard this before but you talk quite fast. love your insights, keep up the good work!
