That game was also Brody Retalleck's 100 cap and he was presented with a bottle of champagne from Farrell of behalf of that England side Posters are frequently so negative about teams and players so its nice when you hear a story like that
If you want 30 seconds of what rugby is all about - that part with Owen and his kids on the pitch, with Bowdie Barratt being a true gent to his competitor and then Owen inviting the kids into the changing room - that's everything you need to know about it. Amazing 🙌👍
Incredible episode! Well done to everyone that made this possible it was a really fitting tribute to what a man and player Owen is! Also, what an incredible gesture from Whitelock and the Kiwi's
Farrell is a class act. Remember watching his debut as it was the first game I'd watched as well. Amazing achievement for one of England's true greats - if highlight reels included doing the basics to a fantastic standard, leading from the front and dying for your team mates, his would be pretty unreal. What a boy. Will be gutted when he retires.
Sometimes I feel like I look forward to these videos more than the actual games themselves. So well made and always offer a great personal insight into the team.
One of the best Next level's to date. Brilliant view of elite mentality, rugby community and a brilliant battle on the pitch. Superb. Farrell's under appreciated in the media. I don't think an England fan wants anyone else pushing this team onward.
What a great sportsman. From the far sight as a german I can't understand why so many fans dislike Owen Farrell. For me he is an iconic player. Got goosebumps in the 18th minute of this video. Absolutely amazing.
We r ardent springbok fans and of course we love to hate owen farrel truth is he is an absolute legend and without him rugby would be at a loss hes as stated by someone here a national treasure of which both england and the sport of rugby can be proud a great tribute video for his 100 th cap
agree - happy to see Eddie investing in him by starting him against SA tomorrow (also, think Youngs does better as a finisher, when he has had a chance to analyse the game from the sidelines).
Always said if Farrell had won the RWC in 2019 he'd be down in history as the same class as Jonny Wilkinson, lets hope the boys can do it next year to seal off his legacy.
Don't understand the hate for Farrell from opposing fans, because it would seem there's huge respect from other teams players. Some AB fans will tell you England only scored when the yellow for Barrett happened, yet England visited the ABs 22 more than a few times and eventually they cracked.
It's because he is such a phenomenal player that can take the game away from the opposition. He's one you never want to be on the opposing side, yet would be the first name in anyone's starting XV
Because despite the fact he’s made thousands of perfectly legal tackles over the course of his career, a couple of illegal tackles he got away with means he’s a dirty player. Apparently every other player in the game has a squeaky clean record. Oh and he sometimes throws in a bit of niggle. Imagine that, niggle in a contact sport.
He gets more hate from England fans than those of other teams, from what I can see. He is universally admired by other countries while his own remains ambivalent.
@@simontaylor2525you are correct and, indeed, I’ve been a detractor myself. Not for the few illegal tackles but rather for the fact that his hugely singleminded determination means that, on a minority of occasions, he has not changed a failing game plan and a (usually important) game has been lost. In truth I’ve questioned his intellect when things ain’t working. Having watched Squidge rugby’s analysis of this match I now realise that I would have been wrong over the Twickenham draw and very likely many of those other occasions. One hundred caps is an unimpeachable achievement so I, and many like me, need to be more circumspect in our armchair criticism. Not just because of the number of games but also from the fact that he is a great leader who sets the right example and leads from the front. The loyalty he inspires is testament to how good a captain he is.
We as the fans have given him a fair amount of stick over the years but you just can't falter his leadership or commitment to this team. He's been a fantastic servant to English rugby for such a long time and I'm glad he's getting the recognition he deserves. On a side note - class from the ABs to present that bottle. Is that normal for a 100 cap game?
Man I love rugby! Those special moments with Barret and Whitelock show the mutual respect after going to war for 80 min, no other sport like it! Always admired Farrell even as an Irish fan, soo driven & the ultimate competitor
It’s a shame they didn’t show Owen presenting Retallick with a plaque from England celebrating his 100 caps that same game and spending time with him after the game. Farrell certainly polarises fans who either like him or dislike him for whatever reason however he seems liked within the international players community.
I'll never understand the Twickenham crowd. It's no wonder the players get edgy and make mistakes, it's like they're trying to find a pulse in a crowd of 82k windsocks!
Would of helped with Mounga being held like he was as he wasn’t able to defend. Ref should have looked at that considering he had looked at everything else. Well done England to come back and congrats to OF on the ton. Great players go down in history and your no different.
Incredible achievement and I don’t doubt his competitiveness as a great leader, I just wonder if he’s still right for the England to develop a clinical attack back line. Something isn’t working at the moment 🤷♂️
Farrell doesn’t get the credit he deserves and often gets a lot of stick.
Incredible player and what an achievement. 👏
@Steve Bell couldn’t agree more.
that moment at the end with beauden was lovely
It was nice. They are good friends outside the game
Most mature, intelligent and open interview I've seen with Owen. A national treasure.
New Zealander’s class at the end.
Not just class from New Zealand but what makes Rugby so different from all other sports, so much respect internally among the game.
Super class from whitelock at the end
Rugby is class, what a great touch from New Zealand at the end!
Respect to Faz jr - from an Ireland fan. Great to see him hit the 100. Superb competitor and leader. Happy for you mate, congrats.
Faz is a hero, club and country he gives his all. A true captain
Nice touch from the kiwis - signed bottle.
To drink or not to drink!
:)
Series gets better and better whoever’s on marketing needs a pay rise
Fantastic episode. Actually had a few tears in my eyes too.
What an amazing Owen tribute always interesting that everyone involved says he is invaluable, and everyone outside says needs to go
It’s only other countries fans that say he needs to go, I’m pretty sure 95% of England love owen and what he’s done for the country
They're hardly going to put the interviews where his teammates slag him off in the video are they?
@@David-ud9ju Not when there's none to choose from :)
@@Jam43341 I wish this was true - he gets as much stick from home as other countries. Been an incredible player for England
In Ireland we rate him, believe me. Props.
What an incredible episode this was, one of the finest.
He's always been someone I've loved to hate...5 minutes into this podcast I only have admiration for him as a player and a person.
His father was a magical rugby player too. They are a rugby dynasty and I hope there are more in the Farrell pipeline.
I’ve heard owens little brother has been doing well in the Irish system.
@@alanb9443 He is indeed. Jonathan. Changed his surname to Sexton some years ago.
@@RugbyJackal and got his gender changed on top of that

Classy from Sam Whitelock at the end there - a very thoughtful gesture from one formidable player to another. Much respect.

Farrell is a true leader and competitor, I’m just happy he’s English! He deserves all the plaudits he receives. A legend in the making!
Pure class for New Zealand to pay him a tribute.

An amazing player. Great leader. Solid in defence. Brilliant off the tee and a brilliant tactical awareness of space. Brilliant player.
Lovely gesture from NZ. Always rated Owen. A true competitor through and through.

What a captain. Can tell the other players respect him massively. 100 caps and hopefully many more 👏
Well done Owen, what an achievement, also nice touch from Sam Whitelock and the ABs, can never be easy going into an opposing team's locker room

Big respect to Owen well done
Dave Ribbons offloading and being epic in the last quarter!
Beautiful tribute to a true English legend.
This is a great video. I don’t think I could love a player more! Such a class act
Really nice to see Eddie give JVP some words of encouragement after what wasn’t a great game for him.

Excited about this England team.
Me too man, feels like something is building again.
Great tribute to Farrell, a very memorable game for the lads.
