I even disagree with a Pyschiatrist diagnosing a TBI mainly because their expertise lies within the realms of psychological vs the physiological. A Neurologist or Neurosurgeon should be the only credentialed professional to assess for TBI…my opinion of course
I think my case is a prime example I received my TBI on April 10th 1976 I was unconscious for 6 days. The VA has been treating me for a TBI for the last 25 plus years it wasn't until I had a second review at the VA in 2016 that I was informed it wasn't service connected. My medical and service records have been requested multiple times since the 1980s it took over 22 request for documentation finally got the medical reports from the corman doing first aid on me before and after being hospitalized and within 15 days I was granted 100% disability after presenting this evidence. So two weeks before my 65th birthday I was determined to be service connected 100%. In my journey from hell with the VA and DOD trying to obtain records I discovered that records are being digitized but rather than starting the minute '80s they decided to start with the Spanish-American war they are currently somewhere digitizing world war I records they should be about 70% done with those and then they'll work their way forward. So if you served in the civil war the VA could bring your medical records up on computer but if you served in Korea or Vietnam or most of world war II your SOL. It's a total f****** disaster. The incompetence at the VA is so horrible they actually placed in my medical records in over 30 locations that I was HIV positive when I was not this f****** s*** needs to stop the f****** VA is out of f****** control and I believe they are one of the major causes of veterans taking their own life due to the frustrations and s*** they have done to me and others they damn near killed me with their f****** s***
Wow. Great video. I recently had my CPE for TBI. I am rated at 70% for PTSD and stressed to my doctor regarding my memory and my inherit fear that I had onset dementia or CTE. I basically say my in the office and begged the nero doctor for help citing that I wanted for my brain to be healed and less of the compensation.
This actually happened to me. Unfortunately I never saw the letter until Feb '24, long after the one year equitable relief window (I was denied in early 2013). I'm in the process of refiling, but no luck on the back pay should I get a favorable rating on TBI on my next exam.
2008 I was seen for tbi at va in Seattle. They came back said ptsd overlapping. So I didn’t put in a claim. Fast forward 2024 and I was diagnosed with tbi by a neurologist at the va in Montana. My quality of life has been shit. Couldn’t function right at work. Lost my family. Now waiting to see what is next. But I thought I was just crazy that whole time. I am messed up. Montana va has assigned me a tbi team and I start all that. I don’t know what is gonna happen with this claim. No trust. Can’t work anymore and live with my elder parents. What kinda lawyer should I get? Cause I feel the va gonna screw me over again. And my vso said there is now way if they do service connect me, they won’t go back to 2008. And all I’ve lost over the years since then, I just am lost and hopeless.
I'm going in for my TBI evaluation in a few days. The VA has made me so worked up, I'm just about to cancel. I've been told they are going to reopen and review all of my previous claims. I'm not even using it to increase my rating, I really just want the help.
I had two brain injuries i the Army and it showed on my x rays and I was denied 100% when it affected me in my ability tow work years later. Mr. KRAUSE you are so right about our military. Do we want to treat our own like the RUSSIANS!!
I just got done with a c&p exam for PTSD at the end the examiner asked me if I've ever filed for TBI I said no & she responded with " if I was you I would discuss it with my doctor right away ? Any idea what's up with that ? Think I will be denied my PTSD claim ?
ptsd and tbi kind of go together. getting them to seperate the two is the thing. If you had a knock out u need to file a tbi claim..because smc for a tbi is way more money. it only gets worse and you will have to have or hire someone to help you. i know all about it, its annoying asf, but it is what it is
You probably went in and acted as a law abiding citizen. Which shows you have operational consciousness. More than likely you filled out paperwork fast and spelled big words correct and have good handwriting. Which means your symptoms aren’t severe. Then when the doc said “hey how are you?” You said “good and you?” Something along the lines. More than likely. Unfortunately even if it was all just you being a functioning TBI victim due to super soldier mentality. The VA don’t see all that. You gotta be vulnerable to the cause. Unfortunately they don’t tell us these things
I was in a accident in 28 dec 1974 driver died passenger ejected from car I was taken to Darnell armyhospitalput on life support unconscious for two weeks had to learn how to walk and talk again treated at Brooke army medical center and beach pavilion return to active duty had seizures and witnesses transferred to another unit on fort Hood had seizures transferred to fort Rucker ga. Had seizures they laid dorment and came back later in life have many denial for TBI and ptsd
Amen!
I agree. We should support our veterans first before we throw relief to other countries

Yes! Only Neurologists can fully explore All the factors involved doing Service with TBI's!

VA has denied a bunch of my claims, recently found out DOD had wrong deployment dates.
How many vets are homeless and on the streets because of the " VA's " mismanagement and have no idea still to this day that this has happened ?!!!!
Thank you so much for this video. Very helpful. I appreciate you

Tbi/seizures no letter yet and multiple c&p questioning the VA . What letter I did receive was not completed before mailed.
Also lumped Tbi w/ ptsd
All of my exams have been outside, when I get my results no one explains what it means.

Perhaps you heard about BVA REPORT THIS AM??
It’s called a shellshocked from World War I and it’s a real thing
I have UA-cam Premium. Why can't I download this video?
I find that it's nigh unto impossible to talk to a real person at UA-cam.
What should I do I have never received letter from VA lost my husband 1994 due suicide he had brain injury
