- This almost Year End Grab Bag is a Maker’s Grab Bag! Please don’t miss it!
Music: “Evening Melodrama” by Kevin MacLeod - Розваги
It breaks my heart to see old Rock Island rolling stock. My Grand Father and My dad worked for the Rock. Dad was an Engineer and he passed before the Rock died, so he did not have to see the end of a once proud rail line. My youngest sister worked as Brakeman till the end.
18:18 I was expecting the loader at Revelstoke to knock that sign down while it was struggling to get free.
Always amazed to see snow in AZ, while here in New England it's 50 degrees. LOL
Quoting Google: "At nearly 7,000 feet, Flagstaff is also one of the highest elevation cities in the United States."
The northern 1/3 of Arizona is at a high elevation and gets plenty of cold and snow. Lived there for 30 years.
Connecticut I could see - although unusual - Maine and New Hampshire - VERY rare - at least when I lived there for several decades.
That end shot at La Plada was awesome.
A Great Grab Bag. Can't understand why car drivers have no responsibility when coming upon Railroad crossing gates. The gates are their for drivers safety and train tracks belongs to trains, not for hasty car drivers to go thru, and interfere with train passage.
Look, my eyes aren''t very good anymore so I don't drive at night. Forget driving around the arm, that guy had a 'wall' in front of him. And, he ran in to it. How can you miss a train car, even at night? Oh, well, actually he didn't. Probably a little early New Year's celebrating.
Thanks to the whole crew at VRF for running the show! You guys are friggin legends!
To Virtual Railfan
I like to say big thank you to you guys. The last past six months I been going through a tough time. It’s through your videos at been helping me get threw this, by looking forward to watching them. So thank you. Happy New year to you all. 🍺
11:20 LaGrange never disappoints! 😂
I like seeing the fans!
Love that they are genuinely excited!
0:14 the weird blue thing again
3:14 I think we saw these two in Oklahoma in the last grab bag
4:36 Austin Western Railroad SD60Ms. Looks like KCT's Kaw Valley Line isn't the only WAMX line getting SD60Ms
5:10 NS high hood geep putting out some exhaust
7:46 the tail ends of two trains with FREDs blinking
8:38 two very dirty UP SD70ACes and a nice and clean CEFX SW1500 as well as quite a few N&W covered hoppers
11:27 gate bonks a BMW
12:20 CEFX GP20D trailing. I keep confusing those for gensets when they're not.
13:48 blue car almost slams into the silver Hyundai
15:00 private car Blue Ridge Club on the Southwest Chief
15:22 idiot driver ends up off the crossing surface
18:50 BNSF, NS, and CSX power on one train
23:38 CP 8757 trailing
25:40 another weird blue load that doesn't look super heavy, but needs a heavy-duty flatcar
26:22 CSX 911 leading, plus some lovely action of the old B&O signals. I thought those would be gone when PTC was implemented here
28:00 two Rock Island hoppers
20:50 Police helicopter looking for Hooligans :)
LOL. Seriously, though: La Plata's a small town -- what on earth warranted a helicopter search??
In my town they do practice runs to towns and to the prisons too. People are sick too again with all...doing more pickup or a accident. One morning it was so busy fast and loud....I couldn't tell if was a bad accident or doing town by town practicing. At the penitentiary I think the police helicopter comes from a bigger city and hovers over it.
Thanks
The deer was an amazing video and at the 2:28 mark the trains were ending at the same time in front of the camera
Fortunately, the city of Hamilton Ohio has chosen to move and restore the train station there. It is significant because Lincoln once gave a speech there. It would have been nice to restore the one at Deshler because it served two directions of trains. But I guess we can't save them all.
I can't figure out where that guy in Elkhart thought he was going..
@Arthur's Train Videos & More On vacation, no doubt!
He didn’t either!
Back to the tavern
@@csrrjefflloyd6496 LOL!
We need a random boing now an then. FT Madison has a lot of deer. Great sunset. In other words another great grab bag.
LOL, thought I'd give it a try, "Boing"!
Not shown ... Amtrak 30 was lined up to use the track blocked in Elkhart. They had to back up two miles, cross over to track 2 and passed by before the stack train. How someone goes around a gate when there is a stopped train blocking the entire crossing? No explanation I know.
This brings up mental images of "boxes of rocks" or "crates of anvils" (as in "As dumb as...")
Wow!
2:48 At least that pick-up truck at LaGrange didn't break down on the tracks.
Another fantastic grab bag!!!!
Another great Grab Bag video VRF .
At 1:48 I was like wow so many engines.
Another awesome grab bag!
Oh Kevin MacLeod
This is a GREAT way to end 2022
BOING on a red aspect was a nice treat @ 27:12; Always enjoy the rocket launch from three different camera angels and the Darwin updates are a blast. Thanks
Unfortunately the lighting in Ashland made that guy look like a Simpson's character.
Hey Fred.
Oh hey Fred what ya doing?
Same as you Fred, just hanging out blinking my red light on the end of this train.
What kind of engine was the blue switcher in Elkhart?
Loader needs chains, Driver needs brains and.. I love trains! lol
Nice catch with the double freds
27:12 Nice _Medium Clear_ there! Would like to see more of those at Deshler!
Great coverage 😍👌
15:35 Best use of a sound effect.
Right off the start great
Another Darwin Award nominee to end 2022. They never learn
Question. What does Darwin mean? I always it is a person's name.
@Rey he made the theory of Evolution and "survival of the fittest"
@@andrewp6387 I see. But does the word Darwin have another meaning?
@@Rey-xw4pf In this sense, it implies that the "Darwin", is not one of the "fittest".
@@jimdavidsmith4374 Ah I got it now.
21:48 Revelstoke .... the Bear.
At 25:43 we appear to have a backup roll for a rolling mill. People on the VR HSC feed were calling it a motor or generator armature, but there does not appear to be a coupling on either end of that piece.
And is it "B&Oing" for the CPL at 27:12?
So, you don't know what it is either, but everyone else is wrong? Got it.
Forty-plus years of engineering experience around motors, generators, and rolling mills does give me some insight into what their components look like.
@@bobsmith9947 It looks exactly like a mill backup roll. And I have over 60 years experience.
LOL!
Glad someone knows what it is because I wouldn’t even venture a guess! Thanks
These videos are just making me think I need to move to Arizona to see decent snowfall again
Uh…only in Flagstaff ! Ha ha!
Happy New Year VRF ...keep up your great work. How bout we start the new year w/an entire train at the forgotten HORSE SHOE CURVE. Maybe the camera is broke,IDK but its been a loooooooooooooooong time. Please for my grandson...we visited the HSC last summer & we enjoyed it very much. 😀😀😁
Excellent Video
🍁🌲🇮🇳🌲🍁
It always makes me chuckle a bit when I see someone stop under the arm that is about to come down. Like magically fairies are going to hold it up and not hit their car.
Man that guy at 1:00. Looks like a prizefighter hit him right in the eyes
Some people just have darker pigmentation in that area. No need to call him out on a national / international video.
I wonder if that cool part is headed for SpaceX Cocoa for the lift in the new StarShip launch tower
@15:22 driver's IQ matches their foot size... I'm almost certain by their action in this clip..."See TRACKS? Think TRAIN!".... Operation Lifesaver
21:49 that's why you clear your roof after a winter storm
Gruß aus Brandenburg 🇩🇪 bleibt gesund ☘️
I suggest another channel about people waving at cameras and wildlife. Then perhaps, we would see more trains on here!
SUPER👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇳🇱🍀
22:39, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). Based in Decatur, IL. A long way from home.
Yay Decatur!!!
Adm has facilities all over the world, lots of grain products, Tate &Lyle are also in Decatur IL,
@@timothyrachford1868 I realize that the corporate headquarters is in Chicago, IL but I live about 60 miles from Decatur.
No worries, I'm in Springfield Illinois myself
*Cool*
I enjoy all the freight and locomotives, but one puzzles me. At 14:57 I see the Pullman car rolling through Madison. Is that a private car?
Hi, Your Video Are Good👍
I like it and i like those 3 dreer .
How 'bout the herd at Fort Madison?!
1:19, HI ladies
Is it my imagination about so many engines being moved around? Are they transferring them to other stations for distribution? I noticed this somewhat in Tuscson.
Still got a couple of days to go a lot of time for stuff to happen 🙃 happy new year railfans
Ok I remember that train at 0:23 pass by my home here in argentine yard and couldn't figure out what that train was hauling then? Still would like to know.
There's one in every group
At 10:34, I think you mean Folkston, GA?
Will at least its not Ashland VA again 😄😂👍🤣
The people that go through the crossing guard and cause damage and slowing down the trains
is not gonna stop people who are in a hurry to get absolutely nowhere and risk the lives everyone
and instead of referring to them as Darwin Candidates they need to referred to as Fatality Candidates
I know that sounds morbid but it's the truth or at least that's what I heard a neighbor say once.
Strasburg railroad was I a movie I heard the bells
Oh Deer.😉
Spartanburg was neat I didn't know Amtrak had Gevos
@@T_Hoog Thanks, you seem very knowledgeable! Wish I knew more but I’m sure an amateur train watcher that I didn’t understand anything you said! Ha ha!
25:56 Record for smallest VR sign goes to... LOL 🙂
LOL!
What's the big blue and orange thing at 0:14?
27:57 ex-CNW next car ex-UP!
also MWCX = Midwest Railcar Corporation
777! 3:05 I guess AWVR retired it and sold it to the BNSF lol
The SpaceX launch was folkston Georgia not South Carolina
Does anyone know what is on the rail car at the beginning of the video?
Ya - I’d like to know too!!
Please create a Darwin award video!!
That was at about the 10:40 mark
like 165
Can someone explain the clicking or knocking sound affect. I cannot figure out what it means! lol
Sorry, sometimes that slips thru at crunch time for the Grab Bag. It a notification for me from a Mod or Admin.
@@joepeach997 Oh, so it actually has nothing to do with something on the screen? I thought it was something like the CN Pacman. LOL. Thanks for clarifying.
Little typo at 10:37, Folkston, SC?
Yep, darn crunch time typo! Thanks.
@@joepeach997 it’s all good, we’re all human, we all make mistakes once in a while
Where was that? I saw three images at the same time, and I couldn't tell one from the other.
Way to much to comment on thank you.
First
The guitar music is better.
