- 1. Eric Clapton - Rambling on my mind
2. Eric Clapton & Lenny Kravitz - All along the watchtower
3. Eric Clapton & B.B. King - The thrill is gone
Best watchtower version ever, IMO. Clapton at his best.
Three different songs and three different approaches to play the guitar always with awesome class and stylistic perfection. Eric Clapton is an incomparable legend of the music and a living monument of the blues and rock history.
It must have been a great honor for him to play alongside his idol at the White House

Absolutely EC is the best. Class act.
Clapton is such an understated guy. He really is a humble genius.
Eric Clapton is such a true musician he finds it important to put his pick inside his coat pocket before shaking Lenny's hand!
Yeah I noticed that, I love those aspects of Eric, great musician and so respectful of other people.
Clapton, fucking hell. Sublime delta blues acoustic slide solo, stellar rock lead with Lenny, Chicago blues duet with BB. What a talent, truly.
Unreal!!!
Yes and a 3 time hall of famer
pro trick: watch movies at Flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.
I didn’t knew he can play Slide, I got respect for Clapton more than I do now, wow
Eric Clapton channels Robert Johnson on solo acoustic, Jimi Hendrix on electric, and gets on par with BB King in a duet. What an unbelievable superhuman talent!!!
nobady on earth can imitate RJ style so well
C
I've listened to EC intently for years; I've never heard him blow a note. His fingers are machines.
I believe you will find that Hendrix channeled Clapton's Cream style.
@Russ C - I've heard him blow a few. Nobody --and I mean NOBODY-- recovers better. His fuckups are pure art.
I was about 14 when I saw EC on TV. His precision and clarity were obviously beyond the guitarists being shoved down our throats, at that time. Pure talent. No bs.
wow everything seems so easy for Clapton to play...
incredible guitarist
EC and BB, two life long friends, who loved and respected each other. Music, and humanity, at its best.
I have been watching this over and over again, absolutely fantastic. What can I say Clapton and BB King what a team,AMAZING!!
Always when I see EC & BB playing together it makes me cry!
Clapton is amazing!
This showcases part of ECs great talent, to seamlessly fit in with other musicians and play exactly what's needed, no trying to outplay, no ego, just perfect playing.
Norm
C’mon, it wasn’t that bad. Maybe he was afraid of being killed by hillary
Eric is old enough not to have to prove himself. Age and knowing who you are. B.B. One and only.
yeah, with acoustic or electric Clapton is God!
Never an ego with EC!!!! Every concert, every event he always steps aside and lets the others shine!
best comment for guitar hero in 9 years
God bless Eric Clapton. What a humble genius.
Clapton has more soul than anyone in the world. Soul born of pure suffering.
What suffering was that? He’s a multi-millionaire.
@@jimmy5634
He wasn’t always.
You're getting better all the time? How do you improve on perfection? What a genius you are Eric Clapton.
Doesn't get any better than this, and you can see the love and respect these two guitar greats have for each other.
"You know what? You get better all the time, Young Man".
This guy's been around forever and he still making great music♡
eric is a master bluesman
Eric Clapton......Slowhand.....the Greatest ever......
The Darci 13 Have to agree my brother,he has given us so much in 50 years!!
Indeed he has.....
BB king is better
Eric Non sarebbe così tanto tempo al top, nel élite!!Se non e. eccellente musicista!!!Great 👍 music man👨 !!!1
Clapton is good but I say Beck is much better 🎸player
Clapton my hero since 7th grade and I'm 60....
It's so good i want to cry.
penny miller keep the flame burning!#

I learned to play guitar from one album with clapton, page and beck, I think all yardbirds songs. It was instrumental blues. I just played to it over and over knowing one position of the pentatonic scale. But that was all I needed. That’s what I love about the blues- it’s structural simplicity keeps everything a feel thing. Heart types love that. Head types can play lots and lots of scales. I’m impressed but give me 3 minutes of it and I want to feel it. Roots. Hell yeah.
It's all good.
I have to say one of my most fav and most played CD's is the one of B.B. King & Eric Clapton - riding with the King....
***** Indeed it truly is:)
It’s the Bible of blues playing,,,,
BB King, so glad I saw him as many times as I did. He's the real deal old school, king of the blues. That Eric Clapton fella might amount to something too. ;)
I'm a big fan of Lenny K, but watching every one of the rest of the players on stage get into their "postures" and "super-cool" movements... I am so impressed by Eric just standing there playing. He doesn't need to posture. He just plays.
The duet with the legendary Mr. B.B. King was as excellent as you could expect from two virtuoso's. Beautiful.
+pnolans eric is trying to channel the great late jimi so he can't love besides leave Lenny alone, that's his thing and eric has his own..its like saying that if eric was playing next to angus young..lol
I sometimes think is an excuse to make the crowd think you're working hard.
Your so right. EC just plays his heart out on every song. You notice at first he doesn't even know Lenny is next to him until he almost hits him with the neck of his Strat
Lenny is a guy always full of energy ,like a live wire. I enjoyed seeing those two play.
For me Eric clapton is the best
guitarist the of all time.
Sin Jimi hendrix permisions
🎸....Para flipar....
Clapton and the king is the best guitar duo ever !
Eric ha sido una rock star, pop star y demás... Pero en su corazón siempre está el blues!!
This is my favorite time of Eric’s career he’s in his 50’s although he still looks pretty young. 50’s the new 40. Anyway as he ages I get kindve sad I wish he could stay like this. He’s going on his last tour due to nerve damage in his fretting hand and age is catching up to him etc. And his hearing which has never stopped him. He has loss in I think his left ear. Eric seems to have overcome his demons at this point. BB is gone and now Eric’s retiring. I wish we could stop time. FYI forgot to say although SRV was the reason I picked up electric guitar and fell in love with it for a lifetime. Eric’s actually the one I borrowed most of my licks from. Made them my own. He’s just full of great licks. Even just one song, you can build ur own vocabulary. But he’s a wealth of knowledge. And I thank him for all that he’s given to us. BB as well.
Watched him and listened to him all my life, he never showed signs of his powers decreasing. For years and years he just got better and better. But ever since about 2010 he really is not the same player anymore.
I was gonna say gone downhill but its not the right word, because the magic is still there sometimes but hes just not the same anymore. And I haven't got that goosebumps reaction to a single thing hes played since then.
Crossroads this year wasnt great and certainly nothing of note from Eric. I'm noticing more and more hes getting others to join in and play stuff hed usually play years ago.
The last thing I heard from him that made me think and enjoy what I was hearing was a home recording of Layla done in a jazzy way at a concert in Rio sometime in the last 10 years. He was sitting down playing a custom police style strat that he sold for charity a few months later.
It was a lovely guitar too.
He was 44 years old in this video.
"You know what ? Tou get better all the time young man". Incroyable *-*
Eric and BB must have known each other well by this concert. It may be the best I've heard them duet. Lovely music
both guys just gave us some of their best blues. this is blues guitar at it's best. the Thrill is Gone.
I can't think of anyone who's had more "spotlight" than Eric Clapton.
Thomas De Lello HEY!!! Thomas I love your last name !! I wonder if we're related some how
There was a reason for all the Clapton is God signs all over London well because he is
That occurred after the Bluesbreakers w/ Eric Clapton record hit the streets...its a mind blowing experiebce for any guitarist
An absolutely amazing performance !
Does anyone else think it absolutely incredible that "All along the Watchtower" was even played in the White House!?! Holy schmolieeee- & all played so masterfully- everyone brought their A game. Incredible in light of events since then, "The thrill is gone" PROPHETIC, I say.
I don't think there ever will be such a good blues player as clapton. And the tuning on his dobro is open D, with 100 % certainty.
YEP....He has always been my favorite since 1968 and still is today
WOW! His tone on All Along the Watchtower is absolutely, sublimely soul piercing!
Simon, Dead on. This is the only time I have ever seen politicians and actor's stunned to silence, and that's a good thing.
A DIOS es imposible, matarlo....... ERIC CLAPTON.....FOREVER!!🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸
Clapton you are amzing good we love you still and keep it up the good work.
I’ve watched this video many times and always think Clapton was really at his top form here. Until recently I saw an interview on UA-cam of his guitar tech who said the performance with Lenny Kravitz was an impromptu and all Clapton used was his guitar plugged directly into his amp, no effects. That further goes to show how great the man is.
It was all an impromptu performance except the opening number rambling on my mind. Lee his guitar tech decided to bring an amp and a strat along as well just in case. Thank god he brought them!!
OOOOOH! Mr. Clapton and BB King together are PURE MAGIC!!!!!!!!
B.B King is right : Eric is a young man getting better all the time !
13:00 B.B. King to Eric: "You know what, you're getting better all the time, young man!"
They're a golden couple.
When BB and Eric look at each other, pure enjoyment and respect
BB and Eric - wow!!!!!!!
That tone on all along the watchtower though :-o
I loved him with Blind Faith. One of the great blues voices in modern times.
trumpsahead yes. He is great with Steve winwood and jack Bruce...I sometimes think of cream, traffic and blind faith as one band
Eric Clapton and BBKing the best in the word
Clapton is good but Jeff Beck is a better 🎸 player than all
We have heard the recordings of Clapton and then saw him live and realized that recording technology cannot duplicate the sound, he is beyond duplicating. Also, all ten fingers move at once like ten ballet dancers on strings.
I have seen all the great guitarists live with the exception of Hendrix and I think Beck and Vaughan have great technique Clapton gets the nod because of his great body of work
Much respect to Robert Johnson the king of the delta blues! Eric Clapton did a remarkable job here recreating the genius of a true music blues unsung hero!
inégalables......les Dieu ensemble magnifiques
Smoking hot! Fantastic Drummer! Bassist! Watchtower very good! BB and Eric heavenly beautiful!
It seems like the only time EC was really comfortable was when he was with BB, Man I miss him..
Agreed. As you are probably aware, Clapton has enormous respect for BB and vice versa. We were fortunate that he lived as long as he did given his health issues, but it was a sad day when he passed.
LA NOTA ALTA LEJOS ES BRITÁNICA, SIMPLEMENTE SLOWHAND, EL MEJOR INTÉRPRETE Y GUITARRISTA QUE VI EN MI VIDA.
AMEN
Cindy Blackman Santana........great drummer!
Bob Cardenaz I thought that was her...
Has tendency to be slightly ahead of the beat
Had no idea that was her. I had made a comment that she had outshined everyone onstage earlier.
I saw Santana last year, she was drumming. First thing came to my mind watching this is that Santana's wife; thanks for the answer. She hadn't married Carlos, yet, when this was performed.
For all those amazed that Eric played a Resonator, have you not watched unplugged,& many other concerts.Every studio Clapton cd or lp has a resonator on it.
BB is at times more than a foot away from the mic and still has an amazingly powerful voice. You gotta dig "the King"! Clapton seems more at ease playing with BB and more in his own element than with anyone else. The vibe is scary good with BB and Clapton.
Jakexx01 have you watched Eric play with JJ Cale? He is totally relaxed with him also and you can tell the feeling between them. Eric laughs and smiles throughout .
All hail to b.b. king
Not many better ways to spend 13.30 minutes. Their talent and love for their music doesn't come around often and we are very lucky to have been able to share
EC - effortless awesomeness
The woman beating on the drums is Amazing!!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen Mr ERIC CLAPTON !!!!!
What a great upload!
EC with Lenny was epic!
EC with BB was mindblowing!
Watching this was well, described with a word that hasn’t been invented!!! Unbelievable!!!
clapton is amazing
there's no words except "lucky President"
I simply cannot believe that there is even one "thumbs down" to this video. If it is not your thing, then move on, but Hey, live and let live!!!!!!
pfffffffffffffff the solo of all allong the watchtower ist amaizing !
Best Jam ever BB and Clapton! Dang BB was special!
This is like 2 virtuoso brother guitarists who happen to be to of the best blues/rock guitarists ever, playing in their basement for the 10thousandth time. Awesome. Lenny was his usual cool self. A bunch of great musicians !!
They call him slowhand. This is one of the best versions of Watchtower and EC looks like he was just having fun.
Exactly, to be honest I don’t think he was even trying very hard.
The nickname slowhand was acquiere becoause EC SPEND a Lot of Time to changes His strings
Great Robert Johnson Cover. One of the best i'v ever Heard
One of my greatest inspirations. Not only musically but more importantly in my recovery from drugs and alcohol. If you are struggling and need a good read and help understanding addiction his autobiography is a godsend.
EC et Lenny c'est juste énorme!
Merci pour la vidéo!
that solo on watchtower by EC was fucking awesome
I watched so many of Claptons live performances but I think this might just be the best one. Layla 1988 in San Francisco is up there aswell
Beautiful music!
My favourite version of watchtower
this is like back in history when the musicians would entertain the King and his court.. The elite reaping the benefits of the most talented people around... and those jesters would be commissioned and rewarded as well.
These artists donated their time to help raise money for music education in public schools. A very worthy cause.
Great Cooperation and showmanship never doing each other a one upsmanship. Perfect treatment by 2 superb musicians.
Thankyou for this!
Eric Clapton è unico !!!!!
eric is grate
great performance of AATWT by Kravitz and EC - fantastic
Thanks for the upload!
Love, love, love Eric Clapton. Slow hand, God whatever you call him he’s awesome. Nobody does it better than my man Eric. And still sexy as all get out. He and BB are wonderful.
Eric! You are the man!
That Stratocaster is an extension of Eric Clapton's soul. He and Hendrix, who played from the left side of the strings, were the two absolute masters of Leo Fender's Stratocaster.
Awesome...
The bass on that second song is top-notch.
ERIC CLAPTON at the White House for the concert of the century 23rd oct 1999
The Blues Live On RIP BB King
Sue this was just awesome these two masters sitting side by side and ripping that blues out
Thank You very much !
They're all a bunch of sell outs. By playing at that fascist weeny roast they gave those criminals at the White House validation. They should be ashamed
Absolutely fantastic!
Jimi's smiling down with delight!
TWAS A GOODUN!
THANKS FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO!
Thank GOD always here
Eric and B.B. It doesn't get better than that. Period.
The drummer 😍
Dig it
Amen. Beautiful playing
Awesome.. BB shouting out eric at the end!
Clapton's "Crossroads" gutiar festival, in Chicago (June), is worth making a big fucking effort to attend. B.B. King is fantastic but Eric Clapton has taken gutiar playing to an entirely new level. I saw Clapton, with Bruce & Baker, in June 1968 when he was burning down the strings as part of Cream. Think of the music that Clapton has been a part of; In '63-'64 he was playing with John Mayall and The Blues Breakers & he just kept going. Nobody will ever play the Stratocaster like Clapton.
Yeah, he's the son of a Canadian serviceman and Englishwoman - one of those war times romances that ended when the soldier was shipped home - and grew up in England, but Clapton can sing the blues well. There as many ways to sing the blues as there are blues singers, of any background.
one of EC's best moments was on the (unavailable )soundtrack of MEAN STREETS. during the last few minutes Scorcese uses CREAM live no less and it electrifies the film's ending. Scorcese knows good sound and how it can be used w/ film.
