I’ve had reflux disease since I’ve been about 12 or 13 years. I am now 77, soon to be 78. I never heard of surgery for GERD, but I take 20mg of Nexium daily to cope with the daily heartburn I would get if I skip even one day. I also get upper endoscopy procedures about every 2 or 3 years to determine problems that may arise. This is a lifelong issue, as far as I know, and nexium or a generic, is the only drug that works to relieve the heartburn.

If you have the “gold standard” procedure, can you still function normally and perform regular exercising activities (ie: heavy lifting exercises, weightlifting, cardio, etc)?
