I think this is a big thing people wanting to get into speedrunning don’t translate from irl hobbies Take sports for instance you don’t start to become the best but you do it because you enjoy it and if you’ve got skill and work ethic then you become competitive and start worry about all that. Unless you’re well developed in the community and a top runner imo I think competing against anyone but your own pr is dumb and will take half the fun out of it in the long run
11:03 This is called a post pass (named after using the bottom post of the sling to pass the ball from one flipper to the other), and is a very common flipper skill in IRL pinball! I'm not too sure on how pokemon pinball physics compare to irl or even other sims, but it's neat to see the trick used even if accidental. You probably could've just held the flipper up here instead and used that to roll the ball back up the inlane to line up your shot when it comes back down if it's reasonably accurate, though.
New pinball machines are starting to come with built in Speedrun modes and timers! The overlap of pinball players and speedrunners is actually pretty big!@@ackoladeTV
depending on the pinball game, the mechanics are pretty close to real world physics, you can even tilt the "board" and it'll lock up the controls for a bit
Pokemon Pinball R&S is such a great adventure! I love how everything on the board has a fun purpose that makes sense, unlike most pinball games. Would love to see more on this game.
Just wanted to say, that was a great run, video, and all around love your channel! Also loved the choice of music in Acceleration in the middle of the video!
I've played the game a bit as a kid, but that beginning explanation was more than I ever knew about it. Then again, I never really play pinball with "skill", I just focus on not missing the ball
Cool presentation 🙂It is awesome how much is happening in the run, while the time for a run is really manageable. And as you demonstrate: The sum of all best segments shows a lot of room, yet you also show much a player can screw up (showing that it really requires skill), but never looks "unfair". Really great!
Meanwhile I'm over here *still* bragging about being in the top 1000 on Trials HD on the 360. I think I had one or two top 10 finishes for some campaign tracks, but I'll fucking take it.
And he’s performs at such a high level with this specific strat and category that he is actually in contention for the WR, for him trying his best WOULD be the world record
this also just helps me understand pinball more. Its one of those yeah I kinda knew but didn't really think about that hard in terms of extreme angles perfect timing perceison memorization if doing a specific table over and over again. great stuff.
my understanding is that it gives emulator an unfair advantage to do more runs in a shorter amount of time compared to hardware runners, which makes sense
Im going to use a different game as an example, one i may attenpt someday, Ape Escape 2. Theres a part that has a lot of RNG and going a 100% would be different for a console player than a emulator player if theres a save state involved. i do belive there's also data collected when pressing "start" when booting the game on bith pinball and ape escape (Also in MegaMan Battle Network, but thats just another example)

Me trying to get the maximum score on the ruby field and getting trapped between the 3 chinchous and getting infinite points with the only way to exit is timing a shake of the board: Man this is soooo hard.
@@ackoladeTVHey bro I commented on this at the very beginning of the video but after having seen it through, your videos are becoming insanely polished and very visually engaging. It's obvious you spend a lot of time on them, just wanna say thanks for sharing 🙏🏾 Ps the battle pike speedrun was my favorite video before this one >:)
the only problems i have with pinball are that the dexes don't actually matter for the main series. if you could get a reward in Ruby/Sapphire(or RGB/GSC for the original) it would be cool.
I will be shocked if your run isn't spliced. This vid is just too suspicious. You're conveniently off-camera and off-voice for the jirachi part? You're DESPERATE to place a WR somewhere? The overexplaining of the ball teleporting at the end, trying to pass it off as a weird quirk of the game? The dismissive handwave of "ok yeah I used savestates, but I promise I didn't cheat with them!"? Naaaahhh. You're trying too hard to cover your tracks and it shows.
You do not need a competitive world record to be a speedrunner. All you need is the will to go fast. Speedrunning is a mentality, not a medal.

Coming up with a new world record strategy is more important than a world record time. At least to me
One leads to the other
Agree, pushing the community forward is wort at least as much as getting the world record.
Takes a village
Coming up with the strat puts you in a summoning salt video 🤷🏾♂️

Acko you are a speedrunner! Anyone who puts blood sweat and tears for a speedrun is a speedrunner to me lol
Yeah, he's falling into the toxic mentality of having to be the best to be anything.
Agreed. You don't have to achieve a world record to be a speedrunner. If you speedrun games, you're a speedrunner, regardless of your times.
If you try to run a game at the highest speed you can, you are a speedrunner
Meanwhile I'm over here *still* bragging about being in the top 1000 on Trials HD on the 360. I think I had one or two top 10 finishes for some campaign tracks, but I'll fucking take it.
That was entertaining af , this run really have potential with the right amount of randomness and skill ceiling . That was nice man

Funny how i kept on laughing every time he said TRIPLE NUT lmao
Nice job! Although I did not expect to hear triple nut and double nut so many times
First time watcher, good storytelling and editing, even if you failed the end of the run it would have been a great video showing off the run.
so save stating to right before input starts is not allowed? That's kinda silly, what difference does that make?

Recently got back into this game and beat my childhood record of 1.2 billion with a new record of over 5 billion
Getting that last hit on Jirachi was a miracle. It's like the game wanted you to have that world record.
I only play that game whenever im bored or whenever I procastinate back then.

So sad we never got a 3rd game. The first 2 games were great, with the sequel being the best

No world record is safe anymore. MY GOAT!
Congrats on the God run! Great video. Thanks for mentioning me in the description. :]
Hope to see you do Rayquaza runs soon.
that’s the goal eventually!!
I played this game for hours growing up and never knew there was a ruins location! Grear video 😄
I’ve yet to achieve the mythical Triple Nut.. I must have faith & keep trying.
I went back to this game a few weeks ago, and man ive never related harder to a speedrun video
