Talk about perfect timing!!! I just received my airbrush machine and thought, "NOW what do I do!" lol...LOVE your stencils and now I cannot wait to get going! Thanks for explaining things so us ABM newbies can understand...(and no, some of us cookiers do NOT have manicured nails ;) )
I really like this tutorial you answered everything I needed to know. I just got my airbrush system not to long ago. I have the tylina sweetshop, I think it’s from the Duff line too? I just wish they had one end of the hose with and easy clip to remove the hose from the airbrush for storage and clean up. Yet all in all love my new airbrush! ❤️
I have Never seen anyone using their thumb to airbrush before. I've been airbrushing for many years and i use my index finger especially for those Dule trigger airbrushes your using. But what ever works. Good video btw
I hesitate using dark colors to airbrush and decorate cookies. I airbrush cookies and my kids mouths were stained dark blue. Do you have any advise about this? Thank you, I love all your tutorials.
Cleaning it the way you do is just fine. You are using edible colors and warm water is all that is needed. Unlike myself who uses an airbrush for plastic models and use acrylic and enamel paints, my cleanup is far more elaborate and involves some serious solvents!
Yes - these are 1/2" craft magnets. I sell them on my website, or you can find similar ones at a place like Michael's. thecookiecountess.com/products/1-dozen-magnets
Hi I tried mixing my gel colour with vodka for air brushing, the problem is it smudging, am I doing some thing wrong?? Sud I use isopropyl alcohol? Is this safe? Thanks!!
Hello! I don't recommend doing this - as you found out, it does not dry well. Using food color specifically designed for airbrushing is what you want to be using. We sell a few different brands that I love on our website. www.thecookiecountess.com/search?type=product&q=airbrush+color
+Melanie MacArthur I have an answer for you...I decorate a lot of cookies and found that if your cookies lose shape, leave out any leavening agent. They will not spread or lose shape and it don't change the taste of your cookies. Hope this helps
Should the stencil be resting on the cookie? I tend to have a small gap in between the cookie and the stencil..... What thickness do you roll your cookies out to?
Hi! Yes - your stencil should be as tight to the cookie as possible. If not you will get a lot of overspray from the airbrush. Are you using magnets? Or how are you holding down your stencil? I roll my cookies out to 1/4".
The Cookie Countess I am using the magnets. If I use 2 underneath I find there is a little gap, if I use 1 underneath, it is too low, so once I put the other magnet on top it creates a dome on top of the cookie :o(
GREAT idea re: using a piece of cardboard under the cookie. If that doesn't work, I will look into the Stencil Genie. Thank you so much for your time & help! :)
Sugar Rae Bryant Do you have a dual action airbrush gun? Try pulling back on the trigger while you're pushing it down and see if that helps. That's what was happening with mine and I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. You gotta push it down AND pull it back at the same time xD

I have one last question :) Do you have a "go to" recipe for your cookies that doesn't lose their shape?
+Melanie MacArthur I have an answer for you...I decorate a lot of cookies and found that if your cookies lose shape, leave out any leavening agent. They will not spread or lose shape and it don't change the taste of your cookies. Hope this helps
+Debbie Summers leave out what?
leavening agent, such as baking soda or baking powder
