I am fascinated by the different types of brushes and techniques I've been getting books from the library and watching videos I would like to take a class though

I'm watching you apply the Best Dang Wax to your chair and you just mentioned that you were born in Boonton and lived in Parsippany... I grew up in Saddle Brook and lived for some time in Stanhope than Lincoln Park before moving to NC. Beautiful area of NJ.

We used to go to an amazing bakery in Denville! Let me know how your chair comes out. And yes, Dixie Belle rocks!

How long do chalk paint last? Moderate handling use!

It will last many years. It’s very durable as long as you properly clean your piece.

It started as a hobby and somehow just morphed into a full time business. Dixie Belle Paint Company provides its retailers tons of education. We are getting ready to start doing FB Lives, and UA-cam videos again soon. We are building out a classroom in our workshop so we can teach live classes from our home.

Best instructional video by far for Dixie Belle and painting fabric. Thank you so much for answering a bunch of questions. Sadly, I can't use my Best Dang Wax cause for some reason it got all moldy.. I don't know why but I am just assuming there is a shelf life on this wax. I don't have a retailer too close to me but I will assume I can use another "chalk paint" wax to do the same process. Great great video. I love hearing the word "alls", being from NJ myself but left there 24 years ago, you know you're from NJ when you use that term...lol.

Thank you so much Diane, we are so glad you found this helpful! Always great to hear from a fellow Jersey Girl. I would just be sure to use a water-based wax over your paint (since it is water-based as well).

Country Living Newbie Custom Decor thank you for responding. I definitely used a water based sealer. I’m pretty happy with the results. I only painted the backside of the chair and plant on trying to recover the front back of it as I’ve already had the seat cushion recovered. My goal was to paint the front back but when I was tearing off the cording it ripped open some of the fabric. I only paid $15 for the chair so I’m not too worried. But it’s a work in progress and learning time too. Enjoy your channel.

Seems Dixie Mfg paints not telling that fabric becomes ‘leather- like’! Not what I want; want same texture!
(25 yrs- used spray paint n didn’t like results.).

It depends what type of fabric you start with. I have painted several cushions and all of them have a soft, suede-like feel after painting . You won’t get the same feel as the original fabric since you are adding paint.

Thanks for this tutorial. I am painting a chair with similar fabric and it's kicking my butt. I am on coat 4 and there's no end in sight. I think I might have to call it day and leave it as is. Any tips? I'm using the dark gray Hurricane (something) from Dixie Belle.

Hi Mari, oh no! Let me know how it is giving you grief and I'll see if I can't provide some advice.

@@maridertinger5811 Ok, you can try mixing a little bit of your Hurricane Gray paint in some clear wax. Apply it sparingly as I found it takes quite a long time (several weeks) for the wax to dry if you apply it too heavy. That may help with coverage. I am surprised it is coming through though, Hurricane Gray is a fairly dark color. Are you very lightly sanding in between coats? I know if I sand a little too much the color will start to come through.
