Rhett and Link both certainly have their own strengths. Rhett's intellectual curiosity never ceases to impress me, and Link's level of emotional availability is a commodity of high demand and low supply.

I relate to that during my middle school age too and for me I feel like it was a fear of vulnerability. Kids that age are brutal. If someone knows I like someone, and they decide to be mean about it, that would really hurt me. That's not something I could brush off and act like it didn't bother me. Type of thinking. Vulnerability terrified me at that age because if someone got to a vulnerable part of me, and decided to be awful about it, it would be humiliating because I couldn't play it off. Thankfully adult me doesn't feel that way anymore.

I really, really, REALLY appreciate Link in this episode. His crush as a child was a girl his age, he never looked at models on magazines because he felt it was weird that they were women and he was a boy. He was concerned viewers would feel bad about themselves compared to unrealistic depictions of women in pop culture. All around one of the most comforting things to know that somewhere out there, guys like Link exist. This is unfortunately rare, and it touched me. Thank you, Link.

@@matthew7727 actually if you look at men on women magazines they are usually fully dressed and posed naturally, but when you see a man on a men's magazine they are usually shirtless looking as jacked up and muscular on purpose. Women how ever are always naked or barely dressed and in submissive positions. Yes women look at the magazines but unfortunately from a young age we are constantly looking at bodies that look nothing like the average body and we are told how we can be that way because that way is the best, even my dad would notice if I gained Christmas weight. We are told from a young age to be beautiful or else and if we had any doubts about it as children we were reminded as adults that no matter what we do, it means nothing if we are not as beautiful as can be. Why do you look so tired or sick, I don't I just look like me but you want me to cover my under eye bags so you can feel better about asking me to do more.

We've been through some rough patches in our marriage, We've both threatened divorce while fighting, but never gone through with it. We've never fought for more than a day, thankfully one of us usually comes to their senses and initiates the apology train. My parents were married for 20 years and have since been divorced. I'd argue they're closer now than they were when romance was expecting of them. They're best friends and partners in so much but they both agreed they could find other relationships that would fulfill them more fully, while still being major parts of eachothers lives. Personally, I don't understand how you can go through 20 years of marriage and just forget all you've been through and hate eachother after a divorce. I find what my parents did a lot more mature and honest. And trust me, I know I'm very lucky they see things that way.

They are very resentful towards each other and can to this day, 10 years after their devorce, not have a simple respectful form of communication. Not in person, not on the phone, not in letters. To my father it was a total surprise but he feels used by her. My mother felt there was no way out, so she stayed. Untill she found what she saw as a safe exit. I think the thing is that all they have been through was really miserable so they really want to forget it.

YT _Irresponsible I’m not OP but my parents divorced after 25 years and was an adult. It’s really difficult and uncomfortable but the one thing you can control is yourself and how you react to them. You can speak up when things are rough. You can tell them you aren’t okay. You can tell them you need to talk to someone else (like a therapist). You might find it easier to talk about how much it hurts to someone who isn’t your parents. Over time, if you take care of yourself, you can heal. ❤️ Good luck, friend.

I was 15 when my parents got divorced after a 20 year marriage and it felt like they took me on a very not fun rollercoaster ride. Just trust that life will settle down and you will find your new normal. Try not to blame your parents forever for their mistakes but know that it is okay to be mad at them right now. My husband and I did a hand fasting. In the pagan religion we had a private ceremony, where we stayed married for one year and a day. After that year and a day we returned to the high priest and made our decision to stay married or mutually go our separate ways. It was the best decision we made, been together for 13 years and still going.

I remember this one Thanksgiving where my mom invited my childhood friends parents over and even though they were smiling in our faces, when they left, I told my mom, they are either divorced or they are on their way there. I watched them when they came in, how they moved through room, and even if you're a couple who isn't touchy feely, there are signs that a couple is in sync from how they reference one another, to sustained eye contact, to obvious body language, but even when they were sitting side by side, it felt like there was a 10 foot space between them. Sure enough, two months later, he had moved to Egypt and she moved to be close to her daughter and they got a not so secret divorce.

Having been in a long-term relationship since I was 15 (now 27), I definitely relate to what Rhett is saying about having to work through potential incompatibilities that were not present at the start of the relationship because we had not yet become the people we eventually would be. We're still in the process of figuring out who we are, which I think never really stops, and that is something not a lot of people bear in mind when they get together/married: that just because you're at close to 100% compatibility now, doesn't mean that you wont have issues you have to find your way through as you change and grow in different ways. That's just a natural part of being together for a long time, but it's that process of working through those changes together that makes it so rewarding and worthwhile :)

But I have always loved a quote from the actress Jessica Tandy. When asked how she & Hugh Cronin gave stayed married for so many years she responded that “we were never out of love at the same time”. Be honest about what you would expect from your spouse and what you would do in those situations. insecurities and fear of being abandoned are all normalities and some people suffer more of this than others. maybe it's about being so in love and holding onto the greatest thing you've ever experienced or just not wanting to waste your time and having to start all over with somebody new. what is love if it's not worth fighting for? then again people are afraid to love based on the fear of getting hurt, not receiving love , etc.
