Father, this has been giving me anxiety lately, so I really hope you could please help me out by providing a possible explanation! Basically, a Non-Catholic I encountered argued that the era of peace that comes with the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a period of deception from the evil one. He used 1 Thessalonians 5:3 as his reference, which says: “While people are saying, 'Peace and safety,' destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” He’s basically insinuating that once Mother Mary’s Heart triumphs and there is peace, destruction will hit because this peace is deceptive. I would honestly appreciate any insight or counter-explanation to this!

We can be certain that the period of peace promised by Our Lady of Fatima (this promise having been ratified by God through the Miracle of the Sun) and prophesied in numerous places in Sacred Scripture as a period in which all nations will come into the Church (Isaias 2:3), the weak and defenseless nations will have nothing to fear from the strong (Isa. 11:6; 65:25), the war budgets and schools of warfare shall be done away with (Micheas 4:3), and there will be one fold and one shepherd (John 10:16) is not the time of false peace described by St. Paul in 1 Thess. On the contrary, the errors of Russia are still spreading among us as Our Lady prophesied would happen if we did not obey Her requests, and even thoroughly secular analysts with no interests in vindicating Our Lady’s prophecies speak in extreme terms of our proximity to World War III and the coming annihilation of nations. Many people have tried for decades to eviscerate Our Lady’s revelation of its obvious meaning, but the issue will not go away because the truth - so plain to so many - is not that Our Lady has failed to keep Her promises, but rather that modern-day churchmen have turned their backs on the Message of Fatima.
ok...Thanks for clearing this up...as a Catholic who walked away from the Church in the '80's somewhat as a result of the sex-abuse scandal i was vaguely aware of its significance back then...coming back, sort of, to the Church as of late i am greatly intrigued by this little known story and its implications...it has led me into the reality of the 21st century Church, post Vatican 2, post Benedict, and it is quite disturbing what i am finding...in a world of chaos and terror, the one institution that i thought would be forever stable is in as much turmoil and turbulence as the world around it....i am in fear that apostasy is waiting in the wings at the very highest level...i am afraid that this Pontificate will venture into heretical territory which will shock and rock and splinter the Church...all with good intentions of course...this is what i gather from the dissenting voices i am finding within the Church and it corresponds quite closely with my own views, the Catholicism i was educated with in the late 70'and early 80's...while i have never been lock step with Church Doctrine, there are core principles which must adhere if any of this matters or means anything...Francis seems intent on making the Church hip with the teenagers when he needs to be the steady hand at the stern...instead of being the 'rock n roll' Pope, he needs to be the rock that upholds the foundation...just my two cents for what they are worth...will be paying close attention to your work and all this in years to come....any good book recommendations on any of this would be greatly appreciated...thanks again

The vision of the "Bishop dressed in White" published by the Vatican in 2000 is surely a part of the Third Secret, but we have not yet seen the words of Our Lady explaining that vision. Sister Lucia told us in her Fourth Memoir that Our Lady began Her explanation with the words, "In Portugal the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved." The Vision itself depicts a time of great distress for the Church under a vicious anti-Pope (the Bishop dressed in White), and brutal persecution unto martyrdom of the true Holy Father and countless others of the true faithful. Ever wondered why it's called the secret of Fatima? Think. Why the name Fatima? ... Why the place called Fatima? Of all the places in the world??! Think.
Fatima is not necessary to be a catholic nor for salvation. It is not gospel. One can in conscience opt to not believe in Fatima. Since when has a private revelation been more important than public revelation? Catholics displace Gospel and fill the void with private revelations that nobody is obbliged to believe, i believe in the Credo and not much else. Especially not in canon law, which is merely positive ecclesiastical laws invented by men since Constantine, constructs of power only remote derivations of Gospel truth. Law and private devotions and revelations do not essentially make us Catholic nor save, only Grace.
Been there, seen that, done that. I have witnessed that the trad and orthodox part of the church has their share of homosexual priests religious and nuns too. Many are making Francis the scapegoat of deeper problems.
No one is suggesting that the Message of Fatima was given to supersede the Gospel. Our Lady has certainly seen to it by the stupendous miracle that She worked on October 13, 1917, that no one can reasonably doubt the truth of the event or of Her Message. Lastly, if a person truly believes in the Gospel accounts, he will have no difficulty recognizing the Church's authority to govern the faithful through positive ecclesiastical laws.

Thank you for this question regarding "Communion in the Hand," about which we should begin with an important clarification: It is imprecise to speak of receiving Holy Communion in the hands. Rather, the practice involves receiving the Consecrated Host into one's hands, and then administering Holy Communion to oneself, in the same way that the priest at Mass communicates himself as opposed to receiving Holy Communion from another.
Understanding, then, that the handling of the sacred species does not constitute receiving Holy Communion, we see that there are really two issues here: First the propriety of a layman handling the sacred species, and second the propriety of a layman administering this Sacrament to himself.
In his Summa Theologica, St. Thomas addressed both of these questions. He writes: "The dispensing of Christ's body belongs to the priest for three reasons. First, because, as was said above (Article 1), he consecrates as in the person of Christ. But as Christ consecrated His body at the supper, so also He gave it to others to be partaken of by them. Accordingly, as the consecration of Christ's body belongs to the priest, so likewise does the dispensing belong to him. Secondly, because the priest is the appointed intermediary between God and the people; hence as it belongs to him to offer the people's gifts to God, so it belongs to him to deliver consecrated gifts to the people. Thirdly, because out of reverence towards this sacrament, nothing touches it, but what is consecrated; hence the corporal and the chalice are consecrated, and likewise the priest's hands, for touching this sacrament. Hence it is not lawful for anyone else to touch it except from necessity, for instance, if it were to fall upon the ground, or else in some other case of urgency." Further we should note that this practice of "Communion in the Hand" is not only a sacrilege in itself, but also an occasion of countless sacrileges as particles of the Blessed Sacrament are lost and desecrated through the inherent negligence of the practice on the part of all parties involved. And finally, the practice is contrary to the law of the Church. For all of these reasons, we urge you to have no part in this practice under any circumstance.

That claim is widely made, but without any substantiation, and this misrepresentation could cost each of us our lives, very soon.
Sr. Lucy wrote of Our Lady's request of June 13, 1929:
"Our Lady said, ‘The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father to make, AND TO ORDER THAT IN UNION WITH HIM AND AT THE SAME TIME, ALL THE BISHOPS OF THE WORLD make the consecration of RUSSIA to My Immaculate Heart,’ promising to convert it because of this day of prayer and worldwide reparation."
It is obvious that Heaven is still awaiting this Consecration, because no such Consecration has ever been performed. No one in the world pretends or suggests that it has. What some people are saying, on the contrary, is “John Paul II’s act on March 25, 1984 ‘corresponded’ to what Our Lady asked for.” In other words, “We gave Her something. It will have to do.” That blasphemy is calling down on us the very chastisements which Our Lady of Fatima came to prevent.
Sister Lucy herself had this to say about the main consecrations performed by John Paul II:
REGARDING THE 1982 CONSECRATION OF THE WORLD
- "In the Act of offering of May 13, 1982, Russia did not appear clearly as the object of the consecration. And each bishop did not organize in his own diocese a public and solemn ceremony of reparation and consecration of Russia. Pope John Paul II has simply renewed the consecration of the world made by Pope Pius XII on October 31, 1942. Of this consecration of the world one may hope for certain good effects, but not the conversion of Russia. ... The Consecration of Russia has not been done as Our Lady requested." (Deposition of March 19, 1983 to Archbishop Portalupi, the Apostolic Nuncio to Portugal.)
REGARDING THE 1984 CONSECRATION OF THE WORLD
- A few days before the event (having read the text that the Pope would use): "Russia does not appear clearly as the only object of the Consecration. ... This consecration cannot have a decisive character." (Published by Fr. Pierre Caillon, The Seers of Fatima, January-April 1984.)
- And afterward: "There was no participation of all the bishops, and there was no mention of Russia." [Interviewer: "So the consecration was not done as requested by Our Lady?"] "No. Many bishops attached no importance to this act." (Interview published in September 1985 in Sol de Fatima, the official publication of the Blue Army in Spain.)
The fact is that Our Lady knew precisely what She was asking for, and moreover, She announced Her request for the Consecration of Russia as being God's own command. She had already made it clear as of 1917 that the world's situation was so dire that "Only [Our Lady of the Rosary] can help you" - this was not a matter for the Vatican Secretary of State to solve by human diplomacy, setting aside the specific command of God for fear of offending the Russian Orthodox or provoking the Russian military. There can be no question of adapting an explicit command from God in order to accommodate human politics.
In the plainest language, Our Lady has specified God’s will for a solemn and public ceremony in which Russia is consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the Pope and all the Catholic bishops of the world.
If, as Cardinal Bertone insists, the Consecration requested by Our Lady of Fatima has been performed (at least in such a way as to satisfy Our Lady’s wishes, even if not according to the specifications of Her request), then shouldn't we be seeing the promised effects of that Consecration? AFTER THIRTY YEARS?
As Our Lady said, “If My requests are heeded, RUSSIA WILL BE CONVERTED, AND THERE WILL BE PEACE. ... In the end, My Immaculate Heart WILL TRIUMPH. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and it will be CONVERTED, and a PERIOD OF PEACE will be granted to the world.”
Our Lord Himself reiterated and emphasized these promises. When Sr. Lucia asked Him in 1936 (after trying for seven years to move Pope Pius XI to act on this command from Heaven) why He would not convert Russia without the Consecration, He replied, "BECAUSE I WANT MY WHOLE CHURCH TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT CONSECRATION AS A TRIUMPH OF THE IMMACULATE HEART, so that it may extend Its cult later on, and put the devotion to this Immaculate Heart beside the devotion to My Sacred Heart." Thus, there will be a close and obvious connection as cause and effect, manifest to the whole world, between the Consecration and the ensuing conversion of Russia. Moreover the whole Church will hail both the conversion of Russia and the unparalleled era of world peace which follows, as an historic and miraculous Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
But what correlation can be found between these clear and specific promised effects of the Consecration of Russia, and the state of the world and the Church today? Did John Paul II’s ceremony of 1984 occasion the miraculous conversion of the Russian nation and usher in a period of peace for the world? Is the world marveling at that ceremony as a Triumph of the Immaculate Heart?
The facts are as plain as they are desperate. No Consecration such as that specified in Our Lady's request has ever taken place. No one could honestly suggest that Russia has converted or that the world is now at peace. On the contrary, the errors of Russia are still spreading among us as Our Lady prophesied would happen if we did not obey Her requests, and even thoroughly secular analysts with no interests in vindicating Our Lady’s prophecies speak in extreme terms of our proximity to World War III and the coming annihilation of nations.
Many people have tried for decades to eviscerate Our Lady’s revelation of its obvious meaning, but the issue will not go away because the truth - so plain to so many - is not that Our Lady has failed to keep Her promises, but rather that modern-day churchmen have turned their backs on the Message of Fatima.
ok...Thanks for clearing this up...as a Catholic who walked away from the Church in the '80's somewhat as a result of the sex-abuse scandal i was vaguely aware of its significance back then...coming back, sort of, to the Church as of late i am greatly intrigued by this little known story and its implications...it has led me into the reality of the 21st century Church, post Vatican 2, post Benedict, and it is quite disturbing what i am finding...in a world of chaos and terror, the one institution that i thought would be forever stable is in as much turmoil and turbulence as the world around it....i am in fear that apostasy is waiting in the wings at the very highest level...i am afraid that this Pontificate will venture into heretical territory which will shock and rock and splinter the Church...all with good intentions of course...this is what i gather from the dissenting voices i am finding within the Church and it corresponds quite closely with my own views, the Catholicism i was educated with in the late 70'and early 80's...while i have never been lock step with Church Doctrine, there are core principles which must adhere if any of this matters or means anything...Francis seems intent on making the Church hip with the teenagers when he needs to be the steady hand at the stern...instead of being the 'rock n roll' Pope, he needs to be the rock that upholds the foundation...just my two cents for what they are worth...will be paying close attention to your work and all this in years to come....any good book recommendations on any of this would be greatly appreciated...thanks again

The vision of the "Bishop dressed in White" published by the Vatican in 2000 is surely a part of the Third Secret, but we have not yet seen the words of Our Lady explaining that vision. Sister Lucia told us in her Fourth Memoir that Our Lady began Her explanation with the words, "In Portugal the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved."
The Vision itself depicts a time of great distress for the Church under a vicious anti-Pope (the Bishop dressed in White), and brutal persecution unto martyrdom of the true Holy Father and countless others of the true faithful.

Briefly, of the many things which are known about the missing text in light of the testimonies of those who have been privileged to read it, we note that it contains the words of Our Lady (as opposed to Lucy's first-person account of the Third-Secret Vision) -- specifically, as Father Joseph Schweigl affirmed, the continuation of her words, “In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved.”
We know, too, that the missing text predicts a crisis of faith WITHIN the Church, as opposed to the external attacks described in the Third-Secret Vision. As Cardinal Luigi Ciappi explicitly affirmed in 1995, Our Lady of Fatima foretold a crisis of faith within the Church which he went so far as to call the great apostasy (apparently the very "revolt" spoken of by St Paul in 2 Thes. 2: 3 as preceding the Antichrist's coming): "In the Third Secret it is foretold, among other things, that the great apostasy in the Church begins at the top."

Fatima is not necessary to be a catholic nor for salvation. It is not gospel. One can in conscience opt to not believe in Fatima. Since when has a private revelation been more important than public revelation? Catholics displace Gospel and fill the void with private revelations that nobody is obbliged to believe, i believe in the Credo and not much else. Especially not in canon law, which is merely positive ecclesiastical laws invented by men since Constantine, constructs of power only remote derivations of Gospel truth. Law and private devotions and revelations do not essentially make us Catholic nor save, only Grace.
Been there, seen that, done that. I have witnessed that the trad and orthodox part of the church has their share of homosexual priests religious and nuns too. Many are making Francis the scapegoat of deeper problems.
No one is suggesting that the Message of Fatima was given to supersede the Gospel. Our Lady has certainly seen to it by the stupendous miracle that She worked on October 13, 1917, that no one can reasonably doubt the truth of the event or of Her Message. Lastly, if a person truly believes in the Gospel accounts, he will have no difficulty recognizing the Church's authority to govern the faithful through positive ecclesiastical laws.
Fatima has been recognized by the Catholic Church and is not a private revelation. The book "The devil's final battle" has been written by the Father Paul Kramer and demonstrated how Cardinal Sodano and Bertone lied about Fatima in order to hide the importance of the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in order to have the peace in the world. Guess what, Cardinal Sodano and Bertone are also the main accused by Cardinal Vigano who denounced the ones that covered up the pedophilia scandals in the Catholic Church !!!
