Thank you for showing everything in this video, I like your socks, one day I will get to make some as I have a few wips to finish first. As always an endearing chat with Mum which I love. And what a happy little sweetheart of a boy Tommy is ❤ The sirens must have brought back so many memories of the war, I remember my Mum and Dad talking about them and Mums Mickey Mouse child’s gas mask which she hated wearing but of course had to. Thank you Penny & Mum & all. 🧶🧵🪡

Hi Pene, lovely to see you and your mum. Looking forward to seeing the baby quilt being made. Your long socks will be essential during the winter. Ange at yarn n yarns is a online friend, we finally got to meet in real life at wonderwool this year.
All your knitted creature's looked like they were having a fine time with Tommy. Bet that gorgeous smile brings joy to your day.
Our little grandson starts pre school in September. Will miss him coming but they have to spread their wings.
Finished making him some socks while I've been watching. Pair for him and his dad out of 100g. Tiny bit leftover will go into cosy memories blanket.
Have a good week, take care. 🌷🌻

Thanks, Pene, for this latest chinwag! I do love those long socks and I found it very interesting to see how you have shaped them! What lovely yarn, too - I’m glad you gave Angela from YarnNYarns a go! The little macaron cases are absolutely beautiful, especially with the addition of the embroidery, and I’m looking forward to seeing the quilt develop. The snail you chatted about is incredible! And it was as wonderful as ever to see your mum and little Tommy. How chilling is the sound of that siren at the end… We have just had more visitors to stay and then we’re about to go off on another adventure, this time for a bit longer!! So I will have quite a bit of podcast catching up to do when I get back! xx

Tommy loved being able to stand on his own, and we know Grandma loves him when she allowed him to chew on the heirlooms. I do sense that Maisy was not too pleased, however (being sat upon). In 1945 my dad came back from serving in the US army in England. He and mom married almost immediately, and my brother was born in 1946. I came along next in 1949. It was fun hearing your quilt plans as that is my favorite craft and it was a great tip about thinking of scale when picking fabric and pattern.

Quilts done on point are always a bit more special. I think it will be beautiful.👍
What fun socks. I first started watching knitting podcasts to figure out how to make a sock that fits my foot and lower leg. I find store bought are too tight once you get past the ankle. I still haven't knit a sock, but I sure love watching the videos. I've not seen anyone go up over the calf. They will be so warm🤗.
Yes, I find the history through your mom's eyes very interesting.
And isn't it amazing about the snail. And to think that species was really only recently discovered. How many mysteries does the ocean still keep.
Thanks for sharing. Tommy is getting big😊

Hi Karen, I have just finished the sock and it is so warm and comfortable. Looking forward to wearing them (casting on next one tomorrow!). I thought the snail was amazing - a suit of armour - I hate treading on the snails in the garden by mistake! See you next time, thanks for watching.

Hallo Penny -Edward looks wonderful - I love the way you bring all the animals to life with their mischievous characters.
Your quilt is going to look absolutely amazing when it’s finished. When I was a child we spent many happy holidays in Ramsgate
(I was born in 1947) and we lived in East London so it was quite an exciting trip to go there- if I can remember rightly there used to be a bandstand there and the band leader was Freddie Hargreaves? I may be getting that confused with Hastings or Eastbourne but he would get people up to sing - although I was only about 5 yrs old I have lots of photos that were my parents which I now have and look back on often.
I now live in Brentwood in Essex- so about an hour from the sea. Love the mini macarons too - I think they may be next on my list after the animals and knitting I’m doing at the moment - not to mention the embroidery I have on the go too !!not enough hours in the day 😀 !!

    • @penelopeschinwag
      @penelopeschinwag  2 роки тому

Hi Janet, You're quite right about Freddie Hargreaves, it sounds like it was a brilliant band. How wonderful to have lots of photos. From the age of ten I lived in Southgate, so I know Brentwood well. Have a go with the macarons they are worth it I think. You're right though we need more hours in the day. Take care and thanks for your comment.

I so enjoyed your varied episode as always. Your crafting is inspirational. I have never made a quilt but feeling tempted to give it a go. The air raid siren certainly stirred emotions. What a dreadful day that first day was for Ramsgate.

    • @julieanderson3915

@@penelopeschinwag Because I have a number of projects already on the go, and a brand new grandson, I could attempt a machine sewn baby quilt for greater speed. I am certainly looking forward to seeing the process through your videos.

Ooh how special, a brand new grandson. I think I will show both ways to sew the quilt. It's going to be one you can put on the floor for baby to sit on and play with toys, about 60" square. Enjoy your projects.
