170,000 mil??! That's amazing. As someone who has never ridden but really wants to get started., any tips? Harley or INDIAN? Any adivce or bike suggestions.
I love my sporty on long rides. I have found I get 53 to 59 MPH on the interstate, amazing enough. 2-1 Exhaust makes the bike so much fun in higher RPMs
@@picassomotoadventures you will definitely get left behind on side roads. If your group follows speed limits on the highway, then catching up shouldn’t be an issue. But majority of the time you play a game called ignore the red line.
Just came across your channel brother.. rookie rider here, just a few months. Have an ‘03 sportster 1200 I absolutely love it and look forward to riding with your confidence level! Great vid mate!!!! Thank you
If you get a different Bike later hang on to your Sporty don't trade or sell it. The 883 is relatively Maintenace free. Even the drive belt change. I have found that a luggage rack and roll bags are much better than saddle bags as they catch the wind. Roll bags are blocked by the rider. A nifty gas container from Low -Brow is in my roll bag for just in case.......
I have ridden thousands of miles cross country on an 883, but it wasn't an Iron. It was a 2002 883C, with lots of bright shiny paint, unpainted aluminum engine, and tons of chrome. I now have a 2006 1200L, and love to take it out and cross a few state lines on it. It has a 4.5 gallon tank.
Iron 883 is that a sportster. I am wanting to get a first bike ever, but want to be able to travel somewhat long distances but the gentleman at the bike store said it was not the most ideal on anything smaller than a cruiser. idk. thoughts?
With a few mods it’s definitely possible for it super long rides. Although it I can ride anywhere, just need to fuel more but most riders make stops regardless. No one rides cross country without stops. However, I think having a sixth gear is better for your bike to not be screaming its way across long highway trips.
I’m a retired Harley mechanic 67 now and I have 13 bikes and love my 883 it’s so reliable, everyone try’s to get me to put a 150 or 1275 kit but no way 883 is all I need, ride on brother
You did a good job making this video. I have ridden over 170,000 miles on motorcycles. Now at 82 I am down to the little 883 .
Awesome! The 883 is a great, reliable bike!

I agree! Still love the 883!!
American roads just seem so awesome for riding, I’m from the UK and our roads are nothing like that
Cool. I’d love to ride in the UK one day!
So you have to stop every 100 miles or so. You can go anywhere on a sportster.
nice ride, looks like your getting used to you bike now.
Thanks. Yes definitely getting used to it and understanding it’s fingerprint.
I wish i can join you… im like 3-4 hrs away and im a newbie
