    Thanks for this informative video that reinforced what research I had previously done. There are many blog blurbs about happiness with Newmar and Tiffen. The good news is ALL RV's depreciate rapidly after purchase and there are plenty of used Newmar and Tiffen coaches for sale at competitive prices. The real bargains for sane buyers who will not pay dealership prices are 10-20 year old coaches with low miles and indoor storage. You have to look harder to find the right one, but you will pay a small fraction of the price of a new one and THAT is happiness.

      Forest River makes the Timberwolf and FR is not on my recommended list of RV brands. But this is a destination trailer so it's more difficult for me to say as I haven't had much experience with them. If you do choose the Timberwolf be sure to use an RV inspector first and get any issues that are found fixed before taking delivery. And bear in mind that FR has had issues with customer service too.

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  Рік тому

      The years between 2000 - 2007 were a very good time for motorhomes, especially Class As. In my opinion, some of the best diesel pusher motorhomes were produced during that period. That's why I own a 2004 Newmar Kountry Star DP. But all of those rigs are around 20 years old now. So there is nothing specific to look for as much as verifying that all of the systems and equipment on the coach are working properly and in good shape. So if you want to know how to buy an older motorhome like that the right way just download my guidebook on buying used RVs. You can get find it here - payhip.com/b/cPLl

    You hit the nail square on the head when you said "Newmar" being the best. I'm planning on purchasing an RV in the near future, I've been doing my "Do Diligence" on the quality of a Class A, and Newmar has been my top choice. Now I'm in the process of starting over, because I've fallen in love with the "Super Class C" with a matching stacker trailer. in which Newmar is still my front runner.
    While on the subject of quality RVs. Being a "Quality Inspector", I'm quit sure you have inspected alot of trailers. Me personally I've found the "Grand Design" to be the "Far worse" RV you can buy. I've haven't heard anything good about them. From watching UA-cam channels I've discovered alot of people having major issues with them. It's like you'll spend more money on repairs on them then what you pay for them.
    What do you think?

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  Рік тому

      Hi Yvette. Newmar is certainly one of the best higher production Class A manufacturers out there. And their Super C lineup is fabulous, with the Supreme Aire being incredible.
      As far as Grand Design is concerned, I really don't know why so many are trashing them, except to say that I think GD has had serious issues with keeping their quality up through the pandemic and all the challenges it threw their way.
      But GD won the Trailer Life Reader's Choice Gold Award for 2018 and 2019 and received the Silver award in 2020. These are awards that are based on feedback from the Trailer Life readers, RV owners, not the industry. So clearly there are plenty of GD owners that are very happy with their RV.
      And truthfully, all of the high production travel trailer builders had problems in the last 2 - 3 years due to Covid's effects on the industry.
      But GD seems to be a bigger target for quality problems than most. This may be because of their stellar reputation in earlier years. Anyhow, what issues did you find on GD products that you felt were not right?

    • @mzyvettecrenshaw9670
      @mzyvettecrenshaw9670 Рік тому +1

      There are so many. I don't want to "Name Drop" and call out the UA-cam channel, but there is one guy in particular, a large percentage of his videos is of him complaining about issues he's having with his Grand Design, among with other RV channels.
      Also I want to thank you for the Super Class C recommendation. I'm going to look it up now, I'm hoping it's like one I haven't seen before.

    • @mzyvettecrenshaw9670
      @mzyvettecrenshaw9670 Рік тому

      I just looked at the Supreme Aire, didn't like it. I thought I had the video saved so I could tell you which one I'm partial too. It has a large "Sunroof" I'm going into my achieves to see if I can find it, then I'll let you know.

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  Рік тому

      @@mzyvettecrenshaw9670 Well, it's not really fair to me to blackball an entire brand solely on the strength of one bad RV. The truth is that as long as RVs are made by hand, it's possible to get a poorly built RV in any brand. That's why the Trailer Life award means more to me than someone just dissatisfied with their personal RV. The simple truth is that GD has sold so many RVs in the last 8 years or so that there is bound to be a few clunkers in the bunch. But the Trailer Life award proves to me at least that overall GD owners are happy with what they have.

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  2 роки тому +1

      Actually Thor motorhomes can be a good choice in my opinion. They are pretty much average when it comes to build quality when compared with their competitors, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as you thoroughly inspect the coach before you buy and get all the issues addressed. But I would compare the cost of a Thor rig with products from Newmar, Tiffin and Entegra in a similar price range and see what you like best. But if the Thor has a floor plan and setup that you like best, it's well worth consideration IMO.

    I noticed that you didn't mention the Newell

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  2 роки тому +2

      Hi James. I didn't include Newell for two reasons. First, it is what I consider one of the premium luxury brands like Foretravel and Prevost. So it's kind of in a whole different category than the other Class As mentioned in the video. Also, they don't build very many Newells each year either. They focus on quality and take their time. So I feel that it isn't fair to compare brands that are built on more of a production basis with those that are at the extreme high end of the category. With that said, I highly recommend a Newell to anyone who can afford them. They are truly amazing coaches.

    To have an RV technician would be the best option for inspection, someone whose trade goes beyond the scope of an inspector unless the inspector's trade was a tech. You can read a pile of books and pass a test to become a home inspector and have zero experience as a builder and something tells me it would be the same in the RV industry.

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  Рік тому

      Actually I have come across lots of RV service techs that I would not trust to inspect an RV for me. There is a major shortage of qualified and knowledgeable RV service techs in the industry right now. And that is obvious because of all the complaints that so many RVers are lodging about poor work being done by RV service centers and some mobile techs as well. And NRVIA certified RV inspectors do not just "read a pile of books and pass a test" to become certified. It's a very intensive, hands-on training that requires the student to perform inspections on real world units properly to be certified. For me, I will choose a certified RV inspector who knows what they are doing and has the software that guides them through a complete and thorough inspection every time. But everybody is entitled to their opinion, so choose whoever you like for your RV inspection.

      Hi Ary. Thanks for commenting so well on your thoughts about Class A MHs. As I said in the video, everyone has opinions and there is a good chance that yours may differ from mine in some areas. Please keep in mind that as an RV inspector, I don't just make my choices based on floor plan or interior fit and finish. I try to focus also on build quality in the whole coach and not just the areas that you can see easily. That's why I made the comment in the video that even though I could recommend the Georgetown and Jayco's too, I also said that you would clearly see some fit and finish issues especially compared to the more expensive Class As on my list. American Coach in my opinion does build a very good product, but I personally don't feel that their quality is quite up to par with Newmar or Tiffin and from what I can tell their customer service also doesn't have as good a reputation as the others on my list either. If that improves, they will certainly be on my list in the future. Thanks for watching the video and making such a nice comment though!

      LOL ... well that's pretty good timing for this video, huh? Actually smaller Class As like the ones between 30 - 35 feet are much easier to drive and maneuver than the bigger 40 footers. In general, the longer the rig, the more focus you need to drive safely. And making right turns is definitely a skill that you need to master in a Class A. I recommend finding a large empty parking lot nearby and practicing making turns and other maneuvers with your Class A before taking it on the road. That worked really well for us.

      I have created several guidebooks for used RVs. You can view them here - payhip.com/RVInspectionAndCare They provide all of my recommendations for brands and models to choose from. I hope that helps.

    What are your thoughts on the American Coach, especially the two upper priced models of the American Dream and the American Eagle? We have looked at the 2021-2022 $500K+ and are impressed with American Coach. Honestly, having owned a Monaco for a decade that we bought new, and my family having owned both Tiffins and Newmars, I have to say the "quality" workmanship doesn't seem to be that exquisite as it was just a few years ago. I think all industries are having trouble finding good quality people and therefor the business, no matter the industry, suffers because of it. You're thoughts? One more thing, I know that the REV group owns American Coach and bought Monaco back in the day, what do you think of this company?

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  2 роки тому

      Theses are all great questions. I highly recommend American Coach, especially the older ones. For many years, American Coach was the higher end product made by Fleetwood. But now both companies are owned by REV along with Renegade and Holiday Rambler. And the new ownership still seems to be turning out a quality product compared to their competition. It's true that modern RVs have still not returned to the quality products made years ago, especially the pre-2008 models. But what you have you to look for today in RV brands is a level of quality that is higher than their competition puts out, and American Coach fits that criteria. It may not match the quality level of years ago, but if you buy a better brand these days and then inspect it to have all the bugs worked out, you can still get a quality RV from the first day of ownership. I hope that helps.

      @@RVInspectionAndCare Thank you so much! Verrry good advice. Do you recommend an RV inspector in the Dallas area?

      @RVInspectionAndCare  2 роки тому

      @@yesher12 I don't know any inspectors in the Dallas area personally. But there is an exceptionally good inspector in the Austin area that may be willing to travel for the inspection. His name is Don Baker and his website is at - www.dbrvinspections.com/ If Don can't perform the inspection for you, he may be able to suggest someone in the Dallas area that he recommends. I hope that helps. 🙂

    Excellent video, spot on! Be nice to hear what you think about used used diesel pushers and which ones you think wouldstill have good guts and bones to them. I’m seriously thinking about getting a used country coach because they were ahead of it’s time in quality and features in the early 2000s they sold for $700,000 back then. Remodel and update the inside and have a well built diesel pusher under $250,000

      That's a great idea David. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll put it on the list for future video topics. And BTW, early 2000s Country Coach's have a great reputation for build materials and build quality. You are absolutely right that buying an older one that has been cared for and updating it is not only a cost effective choice, but the coach itself would be better made than almost anything being turned out of the factory these days.

    Good advice, but it looks like the entire RV and automobile market is in a bubble, like many other markets, and waiting a few months may save one a lot of $

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  2 роки тому +1

      I agree that it's a pretty hot sales market now for RVs. But how long it will last is anybody's guess at this point. But if a sizeable chunk of the new RVers that bought rigs during Covid decide to sell, used RV prices will definitely be affected. We'll see ....

    Does Newmar have better quality than Country Coach? When you say Newmar first on the list, does that mean Newmar have the highest quality? Thanks so much for your information.

      I would say that both Newmar and Country Coach are very high quality Class A RVs. Either one would be a fine choice.

    WHAT ABOUT PREVOST

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare  8 місяців тому

      I don't include Prevost, Foretravel or Newell in these Class A discussions as they are on the ultra high end of the market, are produced in very limited quantities, and cost too much for the average RVer.
