I think it's hilarious when that skinless zombie dude sees his friends being eaten by the first boss and is like "Oh hell no!" And turns to run away but sees Rick and is like "I'd rather be eaten!"
To those who are curious about the return of the house, I'll explain. At the intro, you actually saw remains of the first house that was burned down in the first game. However, there is another mansion right by the lake. On the subject of the mask, the end of the first game showed the mask being revived. As the third game explains, it feeds off the misery of others to sustain itself. The intro said Rick was being "haunted by guilt and tormented by nightmares." The mask was living off Rick.
I love how video game action heroes from the 80s and early/mid 90s had that bad ass pimp walk. Anyway, great vid! You certainly played it a lot better than I did back in the day!
take namco, like in this case, if spatterhouse was to end on a 16 bit console it is clear that it was going to be megadrive, and not Snes, unlike whirlo which is more Disney like snes style
@@thefunframe7912 Whirlo is hardly Disney-like, it is a prequel to one of Namco's best arcade games, Legend of Valkyrie/Valkyrie no Densetsu. The story for Whirlo/Sandra no Daibouken is rather dark, with the hero's son dying of a mysterious ailment from some falling ash like substance, and Whirlo/Sandra Kurino must go out and find a cure for his son before he dies.
Fun fact: in the opening, the original line is "Go to the hidden house." instead of "Go back to the house." I believe this was because Splatterhouse 1 was rare outside of arcades and not everyone knew that the house burned down at the end of the first game.
After seeing Splatterhouse part 1 and 2 I totally dig this game I can see where a lot of horror movies and survival/horror games probably got influence. Splatterhouse is defidently a rare gem to collect!
One of the things I loved the most of this game was the soundtrack and the small details in the background that gave the bosses and every little enemy some kind of personality. Reminds me how the old arcade Splatterhouse had so many details in it but was heavily censored and reworked when it was ported to the consoles. Long live Namcot!
Excellent play through. My favorite monsters are the purple ones that yell “WHOA” when they jump and then make a Michael Jackson sounding noise when they die.
That looked incredibly hard! I just platinumed splatterhouse on my PS3 and really wanted to see what happened in these classics. Only problem is these are way too hard! I can't get past Jen on the first one and I stopped trying on this one after stage 2. So thanks for putting up these videos.
This was probably one of the first games ever where the player thinks they've finally won and then suddenly encounters the true last boss - who happens to be ridiculously hard. I love little plot twists like that.
The music that plays after you kill the first two bosses is sad, like someone you knew died. I think this series is partly responsible for my love of 80s horror movies and their themes.
@chistophersaylor Actually, about the Screaming Mimis, there's 3 colors of them in Splatterhouse 2. There's green (1 hit, leap around like a kid with 10 pounds of sugar and a pogo stick), then purple (2 hits, can claw at you) and then there's peach (3 hits, can claw at you as well).
Splatterhouse starts if you get the best ending in the NES version. It'll say "The 2 are happy... until trahedy strikes." Look at nenriki's playthrough of splatterhouse NES.
I finished this in the difficulty that gives you only one hit, at the end you get a message saying that they make games for people like you, haven't found any video with that on UA-cam.
Rick Taylor's younger brother would go on to front a metal band. Admiring his brother's mask and bad assitude he would also don a mask and proceed to kick ass. His name, Corey Taylor, the band Slipknot.
When i learned all the splatterhouse arcade games were unlockables on the ps3 version of splatterhouse i bought it the same day for like 10 bucks still cant beat any of them lol but i love to try one of the best side scrolling games.
damn! i like all games of splatterhouse because rick kicks asses only with his barefists against the mutant-zombies. =D thanks cubex for this awesome longplay!^^ now i wait for the new splatterhouse for my 360 and this game will kicks asses. 8D-------
chuckobscure is just a shameless nintendo fanboy. Make a negative comment about the original Zelda in a video's comments section and wait for his epic meltdown. He spams the shit out of the Golden Axe Warrior video's for Sega Master System. Which is a *lot* better than Zelda!
I really wish this got an arcade release. This was actually a really underrated sequel, full of fresh ideas and great concepts, but hampered by the Mega Drive's shitty specs.
One of the many games/systems my mom gave away to coworkers with younger kids, before I knew games were worth something and that I'd want to play them all again decades later. Argh
The Genesis version is a bit harder than the Mega Drive version, right? I ask because this guy's strategy at beating bosses has mixed results whenever I try the same technique on the Genesis.
Does the last little bit of the final boss theme kinda sound like Castlevania's Vampire Killer theme? Strange, how it's a bat-like creature when it plays.
When i watched until the stage 7, when the house was gonna collapse, i thought that " If something hit his wife while they running out, should he hug her to transfer some life force?"
I think it's hilarious when that skinless zombie dude sees his friends being eaten by the first boss and is like "Oh hell no!" And turns to run away but sees Rick and is like "I'd rather be eaten!"

An epic intro, huge character sprites, varied enemies and enemy behavior, different weapons, and advancing purely by kicking ass, this game was great.
IKR? *Epic!*
I love how video game action heroes from the 80s and early/mid 90s had that bad ass pimp walk.
Anyway, great vid! You certainly played it a lot better than I did back in the day!
Can you imagine how censored this game would be on the Snes?

Tuff ass game. Way tuffer than part 1 on PC Engine? Of course World of Long play makes it look easy lol
Hanging babies lol, censors all over on snes no doubt haha
I always loved the sound and music in the Splatterhouse series of games.
Still one of the best intros to a video game.
At 24:47, did anyone else expect Jennifer to turn into a monster? Glad it didn't happen, SH1 was depressing enough. =)
PeyserConley X i was expexting since i saw her but it would be weird every time.

The ost is so good, mad props to the composers.
I used to be so bad at this game I never got past level 2... Now I've finally seen the ending, thanks for uploading dude.

Those jumping monsters sound like Michael Jackson from moonwalker game.
Who's Bad???
hahaha
I love the intro theme, particularly the cutscene with the forest and the body tree.
Was anyone else creeped out whenever Jennifer said "Help me?"
this game creeps me out lmao, idk just something about old pixelated games creeps me out
Yep

Who ever is playing this is amazing. Wow.
Dat octopus sounds just like michael jackson
true
Then again, so does the Screaming Mimi.
Such a good game, and it's fun.
music of this game is so fucking good
Hope you enjoy that little tidbit of the story and enjoy the playthrough of this game!
Rick Taylor, the only mortal who defeated Leviathan, Lord of the Cenobites.
I loved this game, from the eerie FM synthesis to the gory parallax scrolling, a true tittle on the genesis!!!
One of the very best.
morgan freeman laugh at 0:29
If you came here because of James and Mike, go to 6:05 to pick up where they left off.
+Wheezyweasel Nah I came here for the music but there video helped to.
This was probably one of the first games ever where the player thinks they've finally won and then suddenly encounters the true last boss - who happens to be ridiculously hard. I love little plot twists like that.
I love Splattherhouse 2 and played this game for the first time!
Away from sonic plus others this was one amazing game. The buzz of comoletimg this as a kid was unreal haha
Those purple swamp creatures even sound like Michael Jackson especially when they leap right at you along with knocking them in the swamp.
I remember playing this on my psp when I was 10 and always saying to myself damm if a movie about a killer santa was sud why was this not
Great play, only starting getting hits from 25:22. Nearly no damage run anyway :D
Splatter house is so gruesome and cool at the same time with a beat em up style cross horror cross save damsel in distress
Got many nightmares as younger but now only golden memories
I played it alot with my cousins... the scream when you get hit is a classic... lol.
So, from what I gather from the opening, the "house" you burned down in the first game is just the servants quarters.
Great job, Rick.
Is it weird that I can eat while watching this?
Nah. I can too. Got over it a long time ago.
Awesome Gameplay!
Rick's favorite national pasttime is going into the afterlife and punching diamonds.
The music that plays after you kill the first two bosses is sad, like someone you knew died. I think this series is partly responsible for my love of 80s horror movies and their themes.

This game was so difficult. I spent 3 days playing and not having lot of luck. And you finished it flawlesly in less than 30 minutes...
Soundtrack is amazing
I love this game, but i'm crap at it! I always get killed so easily. Think i've only been to stage 3 and get mauled! Awesome playthrough
The into still creeps me out to this day.
24:04 When you used to Moonwalk but was reincarnated in Splatterhouse 😂
I finished this in the difficulty that gives you only one hit, at the end you get a message saying that they make games for people like you, haven't found any video with that on UA-cam.
Awesome music
I could never beat this game. never made it to the end. it was so hard
Yeah. The elevator at last
You are really pro at this, you won 1 like :)
Rick Taylor's younger brother would go on to front a metal band. Admiring his brother's mask and bad assitude he would also don a mask and proceed to kick ass. His name, Corey Taylor, the band Slipknot.
AuburnTigers111 I fucking love Slipknot

FUCK!!!!! I just take 4 hits to close this game!!!!!! And those 4 hits was in the last battle. You're a hero!
The real question here is: It's been over a year, Rick, and you still haven't bought a pair of practical shoes.
My favorite 2d game of all time just dug out my Sega Genesis.
Wow, he got so much strenght so he can rip off zombie/ghoul etc. in half with single punch.
If only james and mike knew you could duck under their poke... if only! AND IF .... IF They picked up the bone =P
They suck *so bad* at games. They've no right to review them.
In the credits it says special thanks to Ken Lobb. He's the guy they named the Klobb after in Goldeneye.
very nice run
those purple screaming things scared me so much when i was little.
lol the purple monsters sound like prince when they fall in the water puddles
eu tinha muito medo desse jogo cara. haha meu que tempo otimo caraa
The Best channel
lol the first bosses moan is hilarious
One of the best games for genesis, i gave it 76/100 on my channel
chuckobscure Its rated 76/100 in a scale of the Bests games for genesis....
chuckobscure I only reviews the top games, so i have to do a scale for the Bests....
I did my review of last battle in my channel. but is in italian language... -_-
chuckobscure is just a shameless nintendo fanboy.

Gran leyenda y juegazo increíble Splatterhouse 2
magnifique rien a dire sur la serie splatterhouse !!
I can't count how many times I've played this game, I loved it when I was a kid. But I had no idea you could slide! What?! Since when!?
+Justin Jangles You have to jump then right before you land you push down-forward and attack, but it's very hard to do.
Are you still playing as Rick or is this a new character?
I really wish this got an arcade release. This was actually a really underrated sequel, full of fresh ideas and great concepts, but hampered by the Mega Drive's shitty specs.
I prefer the original but this one is still pretty cool. Good music
Just got this on eBay for just 11bucks. I like the music. Crazy. I noticed you can't here sound when he punches.
One of the many games/systems my mom gave away to coworkers with younger kids, before I knew games were worth something and that I'd want to play them all again decades later. Argh
My mother did the same with my Dreamcast. FFS!
the classic
This is the Genesis or Megadrive version?
damn i thought i was a splatterhouse expert must have missed that one...
The Genesis version is a bit harder than the Mega Drive version, right? I ask because this guy's strategy at beating bosses has mixed results whenever I try the same technique on the Genesis.
oh man I'm scared shitless right now!! :o
there was really never a "directors cut" version of this was there? where the green was changed back to red?
When that thing turned into a bat, I heard Castlevania music.
Does the last little bit of the final boss theme kinda sound like Castlevania's Vampire Killer theme? Strange, how it's a bat-like creature when it plays.
Yo! that intro soundtrack!
wow your really good. great game & video.
Damn, Jennifer is way too gaunt. Someone get that poor woman a cheeseburger or something!
Frizzurd if you call this gore, I'd hate to see how you'd sit through a marathon of the _Saw_ movies, let alone _Final Destination_.
+Frizzurd this is why I hardly ever reply to people. you're all such fucking buzzkills.
25:23 I saw that, not perfect run. Ah well still very good
He got hit once. Brilliant Gameplay.
Why the miniature of the video Looks in 4K?
2009 video
@@Sakuyita2.025_comentarista Hi, goat Mommy!
Hi 🤗❤🐐👍@@rocketremington2929
My fave Genesis Cartridge! :D
Rick is like kratos.
He live to kill everyone.
Even iceman.
He did that to save his girlfriend.
@RagingBanebou haha ok thanks for clearing that up
legendary game!!
this game is better than the first indeed, but IMO the music was better in the first splatterhouse, more scary and eerie.
Epic intro as well
how to deal with a flying scissor and a flying chainsaw?
punch it
When i watched until the stage 7, when the house was gonna collapse, i thought that " If something hit his wife while they running out, should he hug her to transfer some life force?"
@y2k4ever1 yeah its one of my favorite games on the genesis and now i got splatterhouse 3!!!
