I really like long term reviews, and it doesn't really even matter the device, these kinds of reviews help understand the problems to look out for and thinking about devices even after novelty wears off

I have had one since January. I have no connection problems, my fingerprint sensor is fast and works when my fingers are a little damp. The 5G is very fast...I agree about the speaker and the little wait on photo processing (but the pictures are great imo)...just saying the problems he had, I think he just got a bad one.

I like 1~2 year later reviews to see how phones stand the test of time of being a daily driver. So I tend to buy older flagships. I just got my battery and back glass replaced on the Pixel 3XL because the battery was so swollen it broke the back glass. No one talks about this :( that being said, I still love my Pixel 3XL to bits. Minimalist and classy design, amazing camera and stock Android. Everything I look for in a phone.

am still using my Pixel 3 and i dont really have any problems with it, other than the USB-C connecting only works for charging, getting data off it doesnt work. so have been waiting to upgrade. but the pixel 4 had so many things i werent pleased with. and did see Pixel 5 bring it back to the Pixel 3 style more.
only minus i have is the speakers hidden on glass, which was also pointed out and you confirmed my fear that it does impact the sound. its a shame they didnt just have a cut out in the screen like on the camera for it. it really adds so much to how enjoyable it is to watch videos on.

Went from the Pixel 3 to the 5, incredible experience. The footprint is almost identical so my muscle memory is quite happy and you get that 0.5 inch bump in screen size. The 90 Hz is a perceptible upgrade from the 3 and I tought it was just marketing lingo at first! The only think I miss is the squeeze to activate the Google Assistant!

I have a pixel 3 (from a 1) and generally will only buy every other gen. However, I pretty much refuse to pay more $500 for a phone, preferably closer to $400. Nexus pricing was right up my alley. So much like when I bought the 3, I'll happily wait until a newer phone is out to get the outgoing one much cheaper. $700 seems like a lot for mostly the same device. I wouldn't miss the squeeze, as I end up triggering more often by mistake when adjusting the volume.

I’m in a very similar 🚣‍♂️ LOL. OG Pixel XL has been my DD since I bought it in 2018 to replace an aging Galaxy Note 5.
I love stock Android and ofc the cameras, but having recently upgraded to Android 10 from Pie (yeah, I’m one of those “if the software build ain’t broke, don’t `fix’ it” 😁🤣), battery life has taken a brutal hit, as has RAM management to a lesser degree. These older devices’ specs just aren’t enough IMO to handle the rigors of Android 10, 11, and beyond.
I’m also overall leaning toward the Pixel 5, although some of the performance numbers bother me given its cost. Unless one were to view it as purely a “bridge” device to a 2021 or ‘22 flagship, I’m truly a bit skeptical if the midrange Pxl 5 would have anywhere near the longevity of my current Pixel.
The Galaxy S20+ and iPhone 11, being priced in roughly the same stratum, complicate the decision, because while having their own drawbacks, I’ve no doubt about their respective performance longevity.

I currently own a pixel 4a, and it's the best phone I've had in years. I previously owned the LG V20 some months after it launched, and the lack of optimization and software updates frustrated me. The pixel 4a and 5 is fast and very responsive compared to other phones I've played with. It's simple, minimal, and it really justifies it's price for both phones. I've used my 4a naked since I got it (September 2020) and I've had no ware on the back. not once did my 4a lag or crash on me at the time of this comment. I might sound biased saying all this, but I'm just saying from personal experience, and the nitpicks are next to nothing. All I want out of a phone is good camera quality, consistent updates and optimization, and just social media and meme scrolling. pretty much any phone can do that, but I cannot find a justification for paying a phone higher than 800 bucks, and my pixel 4a is 350. I know the video is focused on the pixel 5, but all I'm saying is that I'm having a great experience on lesser hardware.

I really like my pixel 5. I found the hardware on my pixel 4 and 3 less than satisfactory - ran into a lot of bugs and the battery life was atrocious. Google fixed the battery issues on found previous devices with the 5, which I'm grateful for. I love the camera on all pixels and this one is no different. Low light photos are great on pixels with night sight. I briefly used a samsung s20 5g and ended up switching back to the pixel line - the bloatware on other Android devices is just too much to hear. 5g Is great when available - I have had issues on Google Fi traveling abroad where I've ultimately turned off the 5g radio and leverage lte etc - the 5g radio seemed to prevent connectivity in mexico. On the whole, the 5 is my favorite pixel since the 2. I've had it for some months and it seems durable. I'm also grateful to return to the fingerprint sensor from face unlock - face unlock made 0 sense in a mask based world. On the whole, I find it to be a delightful phone for the price. Stock Android for the win.

Clean, easy to use and clutter free software. Beautiful, fast and colourful display and the performance has been more than adequate for gaming, taking images and streaming content. My Pixel 5 comes up with usually 9 hours screen on time. And at some days, when I just stick to it chatting with friends for hours (thanks Corona, I normally meet my friends), I also reached 12,5h screen on time. I guess it works because I don't play any battery intense games, just chatting and reading and some UA-cam.
I don't like the standby battery consumption. If I don't use it for a whole day, it would loose like 8-10% of battery in 24h.

I've been disappointed with the battery life. Can't even last a full day of heavy use. I get like 4 hours SOT with 12 hours off the charger.

Had my Pixel 5 since launch. Previously a Pixel 3 user. Minus the fact I got a bad phone initially the experience has been great. Its like I havnt really changed phones and everything is just slightly better which is good because I loved my pixel 3.

I have had my Pixel 5 for a few weeks now. I absolutely love it, and I came from the Pixel 4 XL. I was worried the smaller size would be an issue, and I was fully prepared to return the device. However, it turns out it's smaller size is a benefit. The screen itself really isn't that much smaller when you put them side-by-side, but the phone as a whole is drastically smaller due to decreased bezels. I have no plans to return to my 4XL. In fact, I can't even if I wanted to because my husband is now using it since he shattered his Note 10.
Which reminds me. What's the draw to samsung phones? Their software is absolutely trash, and their hardware is fragile as a butterfly's wings. I would NEVER use a Samsung phone.

There might be a problem with your sample. I live on Vancouver Island and have had great reception even outside of town....and that is way lesser signal than Vancouver, let alone Toronto.

I picked up the pixel 5 in germany solely because it was "only" 613 euros AND they had a promotion going so that I also got a pair of bose quiet comfort 35 IIs on top. coming from a pixel 3 xl, two things really annoyed me at the start: the clearly worse haptic motor and the much much worse speakers. the pixel 3 had amazing front facing stereo speakers, which were a pleasure to watch videos with. the speakers on the pixel 5 are no comparison, but I've gotten used to it by now. the worse haptic motor made me turn off the haptic feedback while typing, which was really crisp on the pixel 3, but I can't say that I really miss it that much now that I've gotten used to it.
the battery life is simply amazing on this phone and one of the major reasons why I love it so much. the smaller formfactor is awesome aswell, especially since the screen size is almost identical to the pixel 3 xl, just without the bezels.
so yeah, for effectively 400 euros I am really happy, I wouldnt spend 700 for it though.

everything said in this video is very critical ,simple, to the point and have a real solid base and reasons. you should be way higher among bigger youtuber reviewers. they talk a lot yet not critical enough. only saying what people can normally read on 1 page of specs

The plastic coating is better than glass, glass breaks easier and it will got scratches.
I use the Pixel 5 since october 20 and I think it doesnt feel cheap, just because its not glass.
I dont have any problems in germany with the quality during a call.
My phone doesnt lag or something because the cpu isnt the fastest. But Android should be more performance friendly.
The camera is the best I've ever had, I come from a Huawei P20 Pro. But the Pixel 5 is better in every aspect, videos dont feel laggy, photos are natural.
I understand the negative point that google does not install newer hardware.
But other manufacturers need the best hardware to be better than the Pixel 5.
But they also cost a lot more and that's just to look a bit, but really just a bit better.
It is not as if the photos of the Pixel 5 are unusable in comparison to the Galaxy S21, for example.
But there are also things that I don't like.
Software, yes it is pure Android pleasure.
But still, app developers don't manage to create apps that are on par.
If you come from the iPhone, you know what I mean.
I just don't get it, apps like Instagram are not new. They've been around forever, but they still don't run as well as they do on an iPhone.
That's something that definitely needs to be worked on quickly.
Then I don't understand why you make hardware worse from one generation to the next.
That includes the speakers and the vibration motor.
The upper speaker can be arranged in the same way as the lower one. It does not necessarily have to be under the display.
The price is also a bit too high.
But still, you get a very compact device here.
All other devices that are better are also larger.
There was a promotion in Germany that included the Bose Quietcomfort II headphones.
That was a very good deal.
Good review, just wanted to give my opinion. Its saturday, lockdown everywhere, I have nothing to do. :)

Cracking review, good job. Pixel 3 user, will be upgrading sometime in late 2021. I've got my eyes on Oneplus as the 8 Pro looked fantastic. Only things I'd need to jump ship from Google is Oneplus closing the gap in camera quality between them and Apple/Google, and less fear of Chinese companies running up against problems (like Huawei) in the future
