Great video again Brandon. How's that back color rubbing off issue going? Still a bother? Getting worse? I got the black one. Still thinking about giving it a shot for a while without case but if it is bound to get worse for everyone, I'll slap on a case ASAP.
In Europe, it costs less i.e. 629 euros because there is no 5G mmWave (only 5G sub-6) and in some countries such as France, the law requires that there are headphones in the box, so the price becomes less an issue.
I was going to wait til the price dropped but found that Best Buy is offering almost double what google or Apple did for my xs max which makes up for it. I’m getting it now just in case that offer doesn’t last much longer. I sort of have some reservations about switching away from iOS though. iMessage is just so good in the US.
I got my Pixel 5 on October 29th. I have been using it for 2 days now. I am very happy with my purchase! I came from the pixel 2xl. One of the first things I did was to compare the sound quality of the pixel 5 to the Pixel 2xl. I noticed a slight difference but overall I'm confused as to why some reviewers made such a big deal about the sound quality of this phone. Sound quality via phone calls is good. I'm one of those people who has an issue hearing in some cases thanks to getting the raw deal of genetic material from my parents... If I Iike the audio call quality than the average person will be able to hear their conversation well on this phone. The speaker phone option gets loud and is good quality IMO. I LOVE the size of this phone!!! It is refreshing to have a phone with what I consider to be the perfect screen size... I'm sick of phablets. IMO, the best screen size for a cellphone is 5.5 inches up to 6.0 inches. Battery gets me through 1.5 days but I'm a heavy user with a lot of screen on time. I also use multiple apps that are constantly using data and/or wifi when I'm at work. Also, the AI battery saver needs time to learn my usage patterns. This my personal preference... I prefer the front camera to be on the left side of the screen. I rarely notice it when I am using the phone. I would find a center front camera to be annoying as it would be a constant "in-my-face" interruption of my notifications area of the screen. The pixel 5 front camera to the left is perfect (IMO) intersection of form and function providing uninterrupted notifications area of the screen. I am happy with the screen and it's brightness. It seems brighter than my Pixel 2xl when I'm outside during the day. I am pleased with the responsiveness of the phone! I have yet to play any games on it but I'm not going to be playing any resource intensive games. I have yet to notice the pixel 5 ever switching between 60hz and 90hz. Based on my research of our most current knowledge of how humans process images... Few people can tell the difference between 90hz and 120hz. Apparently, avid gamers can train their brain to take advantage of high FPS screens. Also, fighter pilots have insanely good vision in regard to acuity and taking advantage of high FPS. I am neither an avid gamer nor a fighter pilot. We are still conducting research to discover the the capabilities of human brain visual processing. My information is from research published in 2017 - it was from PC Magazine article discussing whether or not high FPS matters in gaming. It was the most recent and most reliable source I could locate. So at this point in time, unless you are intentionally training your brain to take advantage of all the information available on a high FPS screen or you have above average visual acuity and image processing skills... 90 hz is just as good as 120 to your eyes. I have had the opportunity to put this camera to the test other than take pictures of my cats. I am very pleased with the quality of the pictures I have taken so far. I have not been able to test video yet. I do not use the video capability of my cellphone enough to give an informed opinion. UA-cam has reviews by people with more knowledge on video quality than me. I immediately put a unicorn beetle pro supcase on my Pixel 5 as soon as she was unboxed. The coating on the back is like a smooth sandstone finish but with enough texture left to be grippy. TLDR version... Don't hesitate to buy this phone unless you care more about specs and/or need a Snapdragon 800 series chip set for some reason. I used a Pixel 2xl before buying the Pixel 5
Top 5 Best 1. Battery Life 2. Design 3. Camera 4. Fingerprint Reader 5. Display Top 5 Worst 1. Speaker - not as good as expected 2. Camera Quirks - ultra-wide not as wide 3. No Neural Core 4. No Project Soli 5. Price - $100 overpriced
Is this actually true? I've never had a Pixel but I just assumed it would have separate media and ringtone volume controls. If that's not the case then that's a bit annoying.
With you being an audio engineer I kinda want to hear your opinion on different headphones or how to understand whats a good headphone. Since most of us probably just buy whatever and sometimes get disappointed its interesting to see if theres any help beginners to audio in general.
Beyerdynamic dt880 pro + fiio e10k is expensive at first glance but I've had my fiio for roughly 10 years. I've only had to replace my dt880s once due to me breaking them on accident. Never had a mechanical problem with them. They are also the most comfy headphones ever and music sounds infinity times better. That's my suggestion anyways :)
I had Pixel 1 and 2 and when my 2 died earlier this year I wasn't super happy about 3 or 4 price and features range so I went with Galaxy S10. Seeing Pixel 5 now, I have no regrets. I did love Pixel 2 the most though.
The pixel 2xl was a beauty that was my last pixel and I loved it but yeah when the 4 was out and it was time to upgrade I said no and have a oneplus 7pro now
I couldn't put an upgrade off without paying huge fees, so I went with the S10+. It's a great phone with a strong chip and beautiful screen, but it's way too big in the hand. Reaching the top of phone is impossible without a hand shimmy upward. It's been good to me, but the Pixel 5 is extremely tempting.
Absolutely spot on review and I own a Pixel 5. The main problem is that it is £100 too expensive so just wait for the price to fall 👍 excellent advice.
BIG thumb up for Dream Theater! Got my Pixel 5 yesterday, comin from a Oneplus 7t. Yes, less powerfull soc, but I totally love this phone. Small, lightweight, with amazing battery life and great camera. I don't play games on my smartphones, so 765g seems quite enough for my type of usage. Pretty sure I'm gonna love it more and more. :D
I got mine in Germany, 613 Euros + There was an offer if you preordered it, you would get the BOSE QC II (300 euro) for free. So... at 313 euro it was worth it in my book.
I got it from Germany too. Unfortunatelly, mine is affected with small gap on the top left 😒. Will see and decide later if ill return it. Did you recieved any update regarding the headphones ? I registered on 17 already, and still no response... But overall, i love the phone, it is great.😀
@@user8090ful yeah, they replied that my application was incomplete, i attached a screenshot from the confirmation mail, and now it's confirmed, but also for me, it took from the 16th when the phone arrived, until the 22nd. And I had to reach the google store support and tell them that I didn't receive a response. Then the response came, in a few hours
Love that you put in things for daily use- such as IG story video! That sold me because I'm not a professional photographer looking into the super fine details of photos.
Great videos! I was wondering if you had enough time with the pixel 5 to give a recommendation of it over the 4XL I currently have. As I mentioned before to you I'm only hesitant because of the facial unlock missing. Id appreciate your opinion.
I am actually going to be a savage and for the first time in 3 years not upgrade my phone every year. I have the Pixel 4XL and bought it with the extended warranty and I am still very happy with it and don't see the need to upgrade. As you mentioned I still like the face unlock and neural core processor as some top features. If that crack rumor of a 5XL in march 2021 comes to life awesome, if not I hope the Pixel 6 will bring back face ID and I will upgrade then! Nice review as always Brandon, peace!
Having a S20 Ultra Exynos, Note 20 Ultra Snapdragon and a Pixel 5, the audio quality isn't as important as I thought. If I watch something like a UA-cam video, it won't matter much. If I need a better sound or to crank up the volume, I can use wireless earphones and it's better than any speaker. The screen is amasingly good, the black are really deep and the contrast very impressive (natural colours mode). But when switching on the Note 20 Ultra, the screen still looks amasing and so much more premium. It's nicer to look at media content or edit photos, especially with the stylus. It's a bit more powerful but you don't see any much difference. Mostly if I process a photo or extract files from an archive, or delete hundreds of pics. 90Hz vs 120 Hz, no difference. Especially with 0.5x animation speed on the Pixel 5. So what I like better on the Pixel 5 is: - small size, fits easily in pockets, slightly lighter - amasing computational photography (I only use Gcam on the Samsungs), the main raison for my taking one - Google assistant working better straight away (couldn't get continued conversation on the Note) - straight and fast updates - not too much junk or apps that can't be removed (can't root the phone as Barclay customer) The cons: - limited storage, 128Gb at best, no SD card slot (forced to better clean the junk, use cloud services) - speakers, not really an issue but still feels a bit cheap on paper - not as much choice accessories (and because the dummy plates where different from the final products, most cases released have a cut for top speaker) - Galaxy earbuds + and beans need extra plugins on top of the Galaxy wearable app. Why Samsung?! What I miss from the Note 20 Ultra: - the big storage (never had to care about how much junk I had on it, 512Gb + SD card) - the stylus (so much more improved, so useful, especially for editing photos) What I don't miss from the Note 20 Ultra: - Bixby (Google assistant now handles the phone better, on top of online queries, does routines as well, and works well with IFTTT to do things on the computer) - Bixby routines (macrodroid is a good alternative and doesn't take much knowledge) - the extra weight (it doesn't seem much but when holding a phone for a long time, it can strain the wrist a bit) On top of this, I have no interest of going back to a Samsung phones. Being in the UK, it means Exynos chips and this is getting really annoying. The S20 Ultra Exynos can get so very hot when struggling to get a signal, which doesn't work as well as on a Snapdragon, making it worse, and knowing that people elswhere get better for the same price isn't terribly rejoicing. It's even worse when thinking that South Koreans get the US chip instead of the Korean Exynos... they're not stupid.
I commented this somewhere before. I plan on changing my Pixel 4a for the 4a 5g just for the size. I've had the 4a for about a month and love it, but I am so used to having a bigger screen. It doesn't have to be huge, just bigger than this one(Pixel 4a).
I pre-ordered my pixel 5 last week and it's on it's way. Pretty excited about it. Being using LG phones for a long time and I'm using a LG g8 right now. Even tho I like LG... Their software hasn't changed much since the LG G5 out G6. The G8 is a good phone. Loud bottom speaker and speaker underneath the screen (didn't like it at first but I'm used to it now). 6G of RAM and 128GB of storage. 855 Chip. Water resistant, headphone jack, and SD slot! Almost everything you could want! But the rear camera sensors suck, bland software, and I'm still running on Android 10... Which I don't even know if LG G8 will get Android 11 lol. Good phone but I think it's time to upgrade. I always liked Google's phones but never got one. It was either gonna be Google phones or get a Sony phone. I've heard good things about the Xperia 1ii and 5ii but I know they don't have night mode like Pixel and their front facing camera sucks! Plus the 1ii is like $1300 and 5ii is $950... Might as well be $1000. I'm sure the 120hz refresh rate is beautiful but their software hasn't changed either, 865 chip and a 6.5" screen. 1. I don't care about 120hz refresh rate, Pixel 5's 90hz is more than a enough. 2. It's not like I'm gonna be gaming on my phone, so I don't really need the 865 chip. 3. No night mode? C'mon bruh! Lol. 4. 6.5" phone is to big of a phone. I like the compact phones and 5. $950? Might as well be $1,000 with taxes.... Ouch!. Plus... It if wanted Sony photography... I'll get one of their actual mirrorless cameras. I think I'll be happy with Pixel 5. I just need it for texting, phone calls, UA-cam here and there, browsing the net and taking pictures. I've already gotten used to using wireless earbuds lol. I would've waited for the 4a 5G but I saw video of a guy doing the water resistant test with the 4a 5g and it didn't survive. Pixel 5 did. I'll get the Pixel 5 for now and if Google's finally upgrades is camera sensors and add extra features with the Pixel 6 or 6a... Then I'll get it!
Definetely like the smaller phone size of the Pixel 5. However I am extremely disapointed with the camera. Pictures are not very bright or vibrant. So much so that I am going back to Samsung even though I love the size and battery life of the Pixel 5 and have only had it for two weeks. Kind of thinking maybe there is something wrong with my particular phones camera the pictures are so bad.
You captured all my thoughts about this phone, especially soli. I think you are the only reviewer I've seen who says he wished soli was on this phone. I think an improved soli should have been on this phone. I think they should bring it on future pixels.
This is a great pros and cons video! How do you like the Sage color? I'm thinking about getting a translucent black or white case, but which do you think would look best with Sorta Sage?
@@ThisIsTechToday You replied! I usually skin my phones, but because of Sage I want to show it off but still have some barrier from the elements. I've been looking at MNML cases. Frosty white might wash it out, but frosty black could hide the green hue altogether. Thoughts?
Yeah, it's hard. I'm giving some cases a shot but I think a clear frost should look fine. Black, maybe! Definitely better options than color. It has a hard time blending with colors.
I got mine last week and I really enjoy it. I upgraded from the Pixel 3... The one feature I miss on the 5 is the squeeze to assist. But I'm very satisfied w my purchase
I wanted to like this since it's actually a lot cheaper than the 12 in Canada, Google charges less where it lacks mmwave, Apple somehow charges more. But the GPU is pretty abysmal, and I actually do play some games on my phone. 6FPS on the 3DMark Wild Life test, my old iPhone 7 Plus from 2016 gets 16!
@@ThisIsTechToday I see, I'm coming from a OnePlus7Pro and I really wanna be back on that Pixel experience and camera. I'm just too spoiled on the 7Pro's haptics.
I prefer a pocket sized, one hand phone like this Pixel 5--this is my starting point in choosing a phone. Ergonomics is a hugely underappreciated and under reviewed aspect IMO. Just wait till the repetitive stress rates start to increase as we use our phone more and more. I really appreciate your covering audio quality and usage so thoroughly, which is a major shortcoming in most smartphone reviews. I'm torn between the Pixel 5 at a reduced holiday price and waiting for a 5A or 6 edition where they improve the audio and add back in squeeze assistant activation and some other new features. Or a 4a or 4a5g at a holiday price for the meantime, possibly. I don't care about 5g for another 2 years at least. Anyhow, great reviews, you are consistently one of the top 3.
Hey friend, great review, one of the better ones on youtube. Just subscribed. Never considered a Pixel for a cell before because it didn't have an ultra-wide camera until this year. Any idea to when the premium model is coming out? I mean the Pixel 5XL or a Pixel 6?
Thank you so much! From what I’m hearing, Google may be trying for higher end again this year but supply chain may change that as our world is still a little crazy.
still conflicted to buy an android...i bought a OnePlus 7 Pro, i got a display burn-in, and had more glitchy/overheating issues. I've upgraded from iPhone 5S, 6S Plus, to X, and had no problem. But iPhone X to 7 Pro, was just so bad, it makes me want to settle.
Has your gotten really hot doing basic things like texting, videos and especially while charging? I'm concern about it because my pixel 2 rarely did that
I have a Pixel 4 and an S10, there's things that I like from both. The pixel 4 somehow "feels" more premium but the S10 does everything I need, like having reverse charging and a headphone jack. I expected the Pixel 5 to be more premium than the 4 but they cut down features to lower the price a bit...
IDK if it's just the unit i received but the 4a has it's own flaws. My whites are blueish and the speakers aren't as good as I remember. Ear speaker is about worthless when watching videos or what not. Lastly, fingerprint sensor isn't as good as it used to be, doesn't always recognize input. I couldn't justify the price of the 5 and under screen speaker along with poor quality coating was a deal breaker for me. Otherwise the 5 would have been a great phone choice
He probably traded in a phone or something. Or a carrier has some sort of deal. I'm still sceptical about the speakers on the 5. The 4a speakers suck and they are rumored to be better than the 5. Phone speakers and important for my use.
@@INFRNL1 I've had the Pixel 5 for the past 13 days. I will be returning the phone tomorrow, within the 14 day return period as I'm still waiting for any sort of statement from Google regarding the screen gap issue (affecting my device as well). I'd rather be 100% sure that the phone won't be risky to use in a long run. If Google released the statement by now, I'd keep it. I'll be going for the 4a5G instead. In terms of the speakers quality, it is true that the speakers suck. Big time. When I'm on phone with someone, the person on the other side always sounds as if they were around me, as if other people could hear them as well. This bugs me a lot. Other than that, the phone is flawless. Great battery (I usually get 1 day 5hrs on full charge) and the camera, albeit hardware wise is outdated, is still one of the best I've ever tried. And I've tried phones such as OnePlus 8Pro or Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
Will a screen protector make any difference in sound quality? Also in your review you said it's IP68 but on the Google store said it's IPX8, sort of confused lol
I went from a pixel 3XL to the Pixel 5. I am constantly checking my pocket to see if the phones still there. It's so much smaller and I cant tell it's in my pocket.
Just got mine two days ago, my biggest complaint is that the lack of the visual core means photos taken in the Instagram or Messenger apps are garbage. My Pixel 3 XL took better photos in those apps. Otherwise I'm a big fan. Quick tip: turn the phone screen down when listening to music, the reverb against the screen and the surface it's on makes the sound louder and clearer.
I prefer a more pocketable phone. Hence I went back to the Pixel 4 from the Pixel 4 XL, despite the battery being smaller. I'll probably wait until the Pixel 6 before I upgrade, unless Pixel 5 deals are too appealing to pass up.
The top speaker was just not useful at all. Fingerprint reader at the back need to be transferred on the side or in display. The plain back looks so much better like the pixel 4. I dont mind having a bezel at the top for face unlock as well.
Some apps I really want are iPhone but I already have chargers and loyaty to Google - on the fence at this point. Thanks for the helpful review. Battery lyf is in the end the most important thing, it's a phone.
I've noticed display flashing / pulsing slightly brighter on my pixel 5 when it toggles between 60 and 90hz, just like the issue with Android 11 on the Pixel 4. It's more noticeable on darker interfaces when ambient light is low. Forcing 90hz in the developer options fixes the issue but at the expense of a little battery. I reported it as a bug. Hopefully Google will fix it in the November security update.
I've always preferred smaller phones. I stuck with the iPhone 5s for a while, but then switched to Android with the Galaxy S10, which is about as big as I'll ever go.
I've had my Pixel 5 for about 10 days now and I'm delighted with it. I paid £599 and got the free Bose headphones with the phone. In the UK, the delight to dollar ratio was spot on. I agree with all the points you made in the video. I consistently find your videos to be the most informative and well researched. Big thanks, Brandon!
I was about to, but im waiting for the 4a 5g now because with the amount of media I consume on my phone, I need both speakers to be pulling their weight. So gonna get the 4a 5g for £499 with bose instead :)
@@kerseili6887 yeah I totally understand that. You'll definitely appreciate the better speakers. I just had to have a 90hz display with my next phone upgrade. Just wish I could've had the 90hz with the better top speaker.
Kerselli, I think you will be pleased with the speakers and larger screen. They did a great job with the speakers on the 4a so I don't have any doubt that the XL model is just as good.
I'm coming off of a S10 5G and what I can say is that the Pixel 5 is refreshing. It's nice being able to hit "q" or "a" without straining. I do miss some things but I gain others.
After using the Samsung S10e, which is really quite similar to the Pixel 5 in Size, Design, Camera (not fotoquality), Fingerprint Reader (also swipe down the notifications) i really want a bigger Phone!
@@paulking6490 Hey Paul, I am in about 5 days with my new Pixel 5. I love this phone. It took about a day to learn that there simply is no bottom button and you have to swipe to get back to ground zero.. Second day, I was an expert. I love this phone. It is NOT bizzarely large and heavy, it is priced fairly and is seems to be so fast. It bears repeating; it does not feel like a brick in your pocket. This ALONE, is a bid deal to me.
I never use face unlock... Like I just don't understand. It's just faster imo to use my fingerprint scanner. Like pulling my phone out of my pocket. My screen would already be opened before I even looked at the screen. Leaving my phone on my desk charger, me looking at my phone won't unlock it. Which is good. I can unlock it when I want. Idk, I just never got into it. Plus it feels awkward to me while using it.
use Pixel1 change to Huawei P10, saw Pixel5 decent design, for WetHand Syndrome non glass phone is a blessing, but. Should I buy Pixel 5 or just wait for Pixel 6 based on all plus minus about Pixel 5.
I'm considering switch back to the Pixel lineup. Currently rocking a S20+ and I had Pixel 3XL and 4XL and I miss the software and pictures of Pixels. But the size makes it's deal breaker :( I prefer bigger phones however I might consider seeing that a lot of reviewers have been saying the battery is amazing. I typically go for bigger phones for a better battery. So if the Pixel 5 has good battery like people are saying, I will most likely just trade my phone
I think is really similar to the Xiaomi 9SE which I choose one Year ago. I choose it because the size but also the specs are really similar and I would love to see a comparison between.
I'm torn between my small pixel 3 and the 5. Like too see that comparison I want the 5 but given the speaker on 5 I might wait for the 6. Google will be using its new white chapel processor too . I pray they keep the size of the 5
I'm enjoying my Pixel 4a. For now my iPhone 12 Mini is my daily driver. But my favorite Android is the 4a. However, my Z Fold 2 is one of a kind that is awesome for media consumption and just the tablet experience while also being functional as a phone. When Google releases their own foldable phone, it's game over. Stock Android on a foldable phone? Sign me up 🖐🏾🖐🏾🖐🏾
I wish they would hurry up and start shipping them already. I'd also love a 6.5 inch screen, but I can live with the smaller one. I would have also like to have the power button on top, identical to the iPad Pro, but with a fingerprint scanner built in.
The 5 best things are great reasons to get the pixel 5. The 5 worst aren't deal breakers for me, in the UK it costs £599 making it cheaper than the competition slightly (plus early adopters got free Bose headphones thrown in). One downside which will hopefully be sorted is some early adopters have the dreaded screen gap. Sadly I am one of those people. I currently have my free Bose q35ii but waiting for my replacement pixel 5 😂😂 will be worth it in the long run. Great content 😎👍
I just picked up the iPhone 12 pro. Preorder and got it in a week. Preordered the pixel during the announcement and still waiting till the 29th. iPhone checks so many things off with the 12 pro but I’m still wanting to return it and stick to the pixel 5. 1st world problems I guess
I'm missing the rear fingerprint reader + smart lock (trusted face) combo. Since pixel 5 doesn't have last year fancy face unlock, I wish they somehow bring the feature back again in future update.
Can't wait to get mine I'm in Canada and just got the phone for 480$ cad on a early black friday sale (120upfront plus 15$ a month on a 2 year contract)
So couple of things , first this is a good phone for most people battery life is great , screen is modern design, fit and feel can compete with the trendsetters and it is decently priced in the UK sometimes I think tech enthusiasts forget that they are not the tragedy group for most phones I have yet to come across anyone that cares about CPU , GPU ufs numbers these are figures that alot of people just don't care about but you tell them that battery life , design etc then they get interested next point is the Google designed CPU won't be some alien tech that will solve all problems at best it will compete with Snapdragon so enjoy what we got in hand now and don't put high hopes into next year's tech I see the same phenomenon in iPhones its always next year it will have the missing features that tech enthusiasts shout about yet this year's model hasn't even been put for a week
Smaller phones for the win. But not too small. I think that iPhone mini is going to be way too small. I have the Pixel coming tomorrow and really hoping I'll like it.
My Pixel 5 is on the way, and I can't wait to get it. In Canada it's $150 cheaper than the S20FE. Also, I got another $120 off in credits with my carrier, Koodo. So a really great deal overall. I agree the speakers are not an issue for me. I'll just stream through my Elac B6's! 😉
Hey im in canada to! And im looking into buying this phone but im trying to compare it to iphone11, I've been an android for life, but im sick of how the photos become shit on social media from Android vs Apple so was thinking of switching to iOs finally with iphone11....but the pixel5 looks soo temptinh
Currently have an iPhone 11. Just not a fan of iOS. Debating between Pixel 5 and Galaxy S20. Price aside....Pixel 5 for the overall win? I want to get back a little smaller and lighter phone.
The Price is kinda just a US issue, outside of the US it is 100€ cheaper. So o non issue for me in Europe, and i got the Bose QuietComfort 35 II too so i payed 613€ for the Pixel 5 and the Headphones that is pretty cool imho.
@@Duggi. But in canada it costs just 799$. That would be 608$ US right? And normally they don't convert prices to Europe. Look at the PS5 or Xbox for example they cost 499$ and 499€. So I am very happy with 613€ and Bose wireless Headphones.
You can't use the VAT WITH tax included and then provide the US price without tax included. It equals out to the same thing when you include sales tax in the US. Where I am, sales tax can hit 10% of the list price.

Pixel 5 still cannot control volume for ringtone and notifications separately (feature existed on Samsungs and LGs since forever). Why Google, why?

The pixel 2xl was a beauty that was my last pixel and I loved it but yeah when the 4 was out and it was time to upgrade I said no and have a oneplus 7pro now
I also went from the 2 and got the s10, great phone but i do miss the stock android that pixel has. Pixel 5 is tempting but i might wait for the 5a.

Pixel 4a 5G with 90Hz would have been my preferred phone

How long will it take for it to fall?
BIG thumb up for Dream Theater! Got my Pixel 5 yesterday, comin from a Oneplus 7t.
Yes, less powerfull soc, but I totally love this phone. Small, lightweight, with amazing battery life and great camera. I don't play games on my smartphones, so 765g seems quite enough for my type of usage. Pretty sure I'm gonna love it more and more.

I have the Pixel 4XL and I recently traded in for the Pixel 5. The radar sensors on the Pixel 4 is useless anyways.
Great videos! I was wondering if you had enough time with the pixel 5 to give a recommendation of it over the 4XL I currently have. As I mentioned before to you I'm only hesitant because of the facial unlock missing. Id appreciate your opinion.
Can't wait. My impatience may cost me $100 but I'll be happy 🤟🏻
So I have a pixel 4xl do you think I should upgrade or wait 🤔

So what I like better on the Pixel 5 is:
- small size, fits easily in pockets, slightly lighter
- amasing computational photography (I only use Gcam on the Samsungs), the main raison for my taking one
- Google assistant working better straight away (couldn't get continued conversation on the Note)
- straight and fast updates
- not too much junk or apps that can't be removed (can't root the phone as Barclay customer)
The cons:
- limited storage, 128Gb at best, no SD card slot (forced to better clean the junk, use cloud services)
- speakers, not really an issue but still feels a bit cheap on paper
- not as much choice accessories (and because the dummy plates where different from the final products, most cases released have a cut for top speaker)
- Galaxy earbuds + and beans need extra plugins on top of the Galaxy wearable app. Why Samsung?!
What I miss from the Note 20 Ultra:
- the big storage (never had to care about how much junk I had on it, 512Gb + SD card)
- the stylus (so much more improved, so useful, especially for editing photos)
What I don't miss from the Note 20 Ultra:
- Bixby (Google assistant now handles the phone better, on top of online queries, does routines as well, and works well with IFTTT to do things on the computer)
- Bixby routines (macrodroid is a good alternative and doesn't take much knowledge)
- the extra weight (it doesn't seem much but when holding a phone for a long time, it can strain the wrist a bit)
On top of this, I have no interest of going back to a Samsung phones.
Thank you! For color, sage works great naked or with a clear case. Not great for color combos. Black is better if you want other colors.
I'm going to buy it at just 150 Dollar . Which colour looks premium???
Great video! What's the song from 0:10 to 0:14? Unless it's just a music bit you got from the website in the description.

I haven't had issues with gaming. What games are you concerned about?
I agree. The $100 too much made me get the 4A (4A 5G is too big). And through Visible the 4A is only $260.

Does the Pixel 5 only support mmWave 5G or is it also sub 6?
Hey Brandon, how is the vibration motor? Is it as good as the Pixel 4a/3a or Pixel 4 or is it drastically downgraded?
A small downgrade but not drastic. Still better than most.

I'm concern about it because my pixel 2 rarely did that
Nope. No issues with that for me!
I have it as my work phone (S20 Ultra as my personal phone) and I really like the smaller size. The 90hz is perfect and responsive.
Small phones are so underrated!
I had a Pixel 5 on pre-order, but ditched it and went with the 4a without 5g. This phone is a great size and value.
I just payed $350 for a Pixel 5. So why not take that over the 4a? :)
@@EliasSchnetzer how? :D
It is not dust proof just water ip68 is 8 water 6 dust. This phone is zero dust 8 water. There's two numbers there dust and water levels.
So it is x for dust which means no dust proof. 8 is the water proofing which is ok. There is levels of waterproofing .

Interesting. Instagram stories was better on the 5 for me.

The top speaker was just not useful at all. Fingerprint reader at the back need to be transferred on the side or in display. The plain back looks so much better like the pixel 4. I dont mind having a bezel at the top for face unlock as well.
I just don't understand why they couldn't make an extra model for Verizon and just charge an extra $99 for it.
Some apps I really want are iPhone but I already have chargers and loyaty to Google - on the fence at this point. Thanks for the helpful review. Battery lyf is in the end the most important thing, it's a phone.
About neural chip, does it mean pixel visual core on this phone?
So, if pixel 5 doesn't have it how about camera usage in 3rd app, bad?

Wait for the Pixel 6. From what I hear, it might be more up your alley!
A bigger screen,or a XL version, that's the only thing i wish they have
I think is really similar to the Xiaomi 9SE which I choose one Year ago. I choose it because the size but also the specs are really similar and I would love to see a comparison between.
I'm torn between my small pixel 3 and the 5. Like too see that comparison
I want the 5 but given the speaker on 5 I might wait for the 6.
Sign me up 🖐🏾🖐🏾🖐🏾
Interestingly enough, when you upgrade to the Pixel 5 with Verizon and a 2 year payment plan. They give you $100 off the retail price.
5:20 is that Tesseract I see? Nice :)
Thanks! Sorry to hear that you’re experiencing that but I’m glad they’re taking care of it!
@@ThisIsTechToday cheers, it's annoying but worse things happening. UA-cam gives me a nice escape at times. Thanks again 😎👍
I just picked up the iPhone 12 pro. Preorder and got it in a week. Preordered the pixel during the announcement and still waiting till the 29th. iPhone checks so many things off with the 12 pro but I’m still wanting to return it and stick to the pixel 5. 1st world problems I guess
Haha, maybe. The 12 Pro is solid, but it's quite a bit more expensive and the benefits of that are there.
I'm missing the rear fingerprint reader + smart lock (trusted face) combo.
Since pixel 5 doesn't have last year fancy face unlock, I wish they somehow bring the feature back again in future update.
Me too. We'll see.
my pixel 5 comes tomorrow and i got it for 599 through verizon on sale so im glad i didnt have to pay the 699
I’m really leaning towards the Google Pixel 5 but I really love the in screen fingerprint reader of the Samsung Galaxy S20
Can't wait to get mine I'm in Canada and just got the phone for 480$ cad on a early black friday sale (120upfront plus 15$ a month on a 2 year contract)
Does the screen vibration speaker cause the phone to vibrate when using the speakers like the pixel 3?
Not in the way you're probably thinking, but speakers will always make a frame vibrate a little, but not in that weird way you're talking about.
You didn't mention the worse vibration motor compared to last year which had a linear vibration motor.
Five. Five. Five things. Not six. Five.
I think the 5 is a great phone, but I’m sticking with the 4XL for one more year. Too many draw backs on the 5.
6 should be pretty dope!
@@ThisIsTechToday I’m hoping! 🙏🏻 But I have a feeling, Google may release a 5a 5G which solves some of these issues.
The a series will always be minimal and provide the most value.
Completely explained, good job!
Thank you!
Love the P5... U shudda mentioned the bose speaker offer.. definitely sweetened the deal.. in Europe anyday
Talked about it in my in depth review and in another video already. I didn’t want to keep saying it especially since it’s a limited time deal, lol
smaller. i used to own a sony xperia z5 compact. now i have the lg v50s/ g8x and i miss the compact. :(
My Pixel 5 is on the way, and I can't wait to get it. In Canada it's $150 cheaper than the S20FE. Also, I got another $120 off in credits with my carrier, Koodo. So a really great deal overall. I agree the speakers are not an issue for me. I'll just stream through my Elac B6's! 😉
Wow! That's a great deal!
Hey im in canada to! And im looking into buying this phone but im trying to compare it to iphone11, I've been an android for life, but im sick of how the photos become shit on social media from Android vs Apple so was thinking of switching to iOs finally with iphone11....but the pixel5 looks soo temptinh
Question. I have an S10, is the 5 an "upgrade"?
Depends on what things you think matter most to you in a phone. What are the things you find important?
@@ThisIsTechToday Battery is the big one for me since I work off the phone all day. I didn't even look at the 4 when I heard how bad the battery was.
Battery on the 5 is a total champ! Can't confirm from owning it for almost 2 weeks now.
Oh yeah, the pixel 5 is a two day battery for me. Is so good. Hot also get a high refresh screen with the 5.
@@ThisIsTechToday I will consider it, I like the idea of holding out until the holidays and see if I can find a deal. Thanks
Great Pros and Cons indeed! Thanks Brandon 👍
Thanks for watching!
@@ThisIsTechToday My Pixel 2 XL won't receive any updates, after Dec 2020 :( I want to upgrade to a new Pixel, but unfortunately, I can't :(
@@tanmayfadnis5440 - save that money, girl. I hope you can get it soon. 😃
Currently have an iPhone 11. Just not a fan of iOS. Debating between Pixel 5 and Galaxy S20. Price aside....Pixel 5 for the overall win? I want to get back a little smaller and lighter phone.
hello thanks again for this video can you help me please i can't activate the bubbles on my pixel 5
Does Pixel 5 have Google Assistant always on? I mean does it work when the phone is locked?
I hope so!
1:36 Thrice 🤘6:51 to me the iPhone 11 Pro looks better.
@@ThisIsTechToday it's really complicated and confusing to me that in the US the tax is not included and different in a lot of states.
Lol, and it feels odd to think of VAT. We will always find what we aren't used to a bit weird. It's kind of funny.
