It doesn't matter is Jenna used the word handicap or not, she basically implied she did with or without realizing it. When you say that you have to work twice as hard due to an attribute it means you have a handicap. Rob was annoyed because A. Being pretty was not a disadvantage at all for them at any point of the game. And in the real world it's the opposite of handicap. I would also argue it is an advantage within the game, but I'll save that debate for another day. B. She's complaining how hard it is too play the game when you are pretty, right next to someone who is deaf and has disability in real life outside of the game.
In my belief her beauty was the reason she won against Matt (I mean some people consider Matt attractive but not as widely as Jenna). I’m the end the season upset me because it showed that the beautiful person always gets it no matter what. The only “ugly” (which is so stupid) winners I could think of: Hatch, Sandra, Chris, Bob, Denise, and Cochran (though I think he is kind of cute). Those “ugly” people only won because they were up against people no one liked (except in the case of hatch and Denise) even then everyone mentioned were against people who were not conventionally attractive. I’m only saying this on behalf of ugly people to the good -looking people to stop acting like you go through any hardship based on your looks.
in the game it kinda had a small disadvantage to Jenna bc in one challenge she was blamed to using her looks to get ahead but she didn’t actually do that she was just being herself but ppl accused her of that just bc she’s attractive
@@joshewa5443 yea people made assumptions but then again her beauty was advantage most the time. The guys were drawn to her and aligned with her. Everyone had disadvantages in life. However, saying you had to work twice as hard because you're beautiful is ridiculous when 90% of the time it's advantage lol.
What? Of course it matters? Christie accused her of using a specific word and Christie was wrong. She intentionally tried to make Jenna look worse by saying she used an intensely charged word like “handicap”. Christie’s accusation was incredibly unfair and irresponsible. Jenna got backlash for something Christie didn’t even know was true
@@Bluerock121 Because it was Rob who used the word handicap, Christy falsely remembered Jenna saying it. She wasn't trying to make Jenna look bad, that's genuinely what she remembered. You can avoid using an "intensley charged word" but if you're saying the meaning, what's the difference?
She wasn't, but a deaf girl in the same competition was sitting right in front of her, and she is saying her beauty is a difficulty (aka a handicap in the game). It was an obnoxious comment (although hilarious), and I picked up on it when I first watched this season wondering if Christy was going to bring up that comment, as in the situation it was quite offensive to a person with a disability.
Agree, I would love to see Jenna come back, its amazing how different she is now and to be honest, she never really got a second chance to play. (I count mother dying of cancer as justified excuse for leaving the game.)
Jenna implied her and Heidi's beauty was a handicap. Listen to it again, Rob repeats that he isn't handsome so doesn't have a handicap like the girls do, in response to Jenna.
What is offensive about the word handicap? It is a regular term that just means something that makes accomplishing a task more difficult. It feels like appropriate for rob to use that term because that is what Jenna was describing. I’m not sure I get why using that word is offensive?
@Xedome You have to keep in mind that Jenna was only 21 at the time, and was a lot more shallow then than she is now...with all the circumstances that life has thrown her way in the past couple of years, she's actually matured a lot from Amazon to now ♥♥
@cameronsmart1 All I ever said is that Christy gave Jenna crap for saying "Handicap" when it was actually Rob who said "handicap". I'm not interested in starting an argument over youtube comments about whether it was right or wrong for anybody to say "handicap."
It's funny that Jenna gets blamed for complaining about her "handicap" when Rob's the one who actually called it a handicap. When Christy confronted Jenna about it, Jenna said she didn't use the word "handicap" but Christy insisted that she did... when it was actually Rob who used the word "handicap."
People just take everything Christie says as truth because she’s deaf and they want to give her special treatment. Christie is incredibly rude and socially inept and it has nothing to do with her hearing
@cameronsmart1 Wrong. Christy gets on Jenna's case for saying "Handicap." Jenna says she did not use the word "Handicap." Christy insisted that she did. Rob was the one who said "Handicap."
@Tehui1974 it's especially insulting when there is a person with an actual disabitlity right beside them. im pretty sure a deaf person would have to work a bit harder than a pretty person.
just to put it on perspective, look at brains v brawns v beauty seasons. Most of the time, people on the beauty tribe are not being taken seriously. Like morgan from cagayan, no one wanted to work with her. It can be a huge disadvantage because everyone else thinks that is an advantage and you can be seen as a huge threat or underestimate you and vote you out early thinking you're just a pretty face and nothing else.
No, no one wanted to work with her because she was lazy. People worked with Jefra, Jeremiah, and LJ because they didn’t sit around. I’m going to let you in on some key knowledge on survivor no one wants to be in an alliance with lazy people. I know crazy stuff. She also was so vapid in her confessionals and manner of speech.
@@vannakinder352 Morgan was only lazy cuz Tony and Trish told her they didn't want her in their alliance. Otherwise she would of been more hardworking then Cristiano Ronaldo.
For Jenna & Heidi to think that being a beautiful young woman is a handicap is absolutely ridiculous. Wait until they are a bit older, than they will know what being at a disadvantage is.
Agreed...when I've watched Jenna on TAR and her new show, Everyday Health, she's a completely different person. And even though Jeff doesn't like quitters, he needs to make an exception for her, because she was the only one that had a valid reason for leaving, although who knows if she'd be up to leaving Ethan for 39 days to play again ♥♥
Guys, 1) Jenna didn't say the word Handicap that was Rob. 2) Being a pretty young girl in Survivor is a disadvantage ESPECIALLY when the tribes were divided by gender like they were in this season. 3) Christy ended up voting for Jenna to win this season.
It wouldn't come off as insensitive at all if Rob hadn't used the word handicap. Jeff asked Jenna why she thought she wouldn't make it to the Final 6, she said because she thought people would see her and assume just because she is a model that she would be weak for the tribe and that she wasn't smart. That happens a lot in the history of Survivor, that isn't offensive at all. I'm not saying that Christy wasn't at a disadvantage also, but Jeff asked her why she thought she wouldn't make it that far and that is a legitimate answer and it often is the reason girls like her don't make it far on the show.
***** It also is that I think the edit Jenna and Heidi got was funny. (Being that most people on the island said that Christy was the problem and Jenna and especially Heidi tried to reach out to her.) But the reason I didn't like how this went is the Jenna and Heidi received a lot of heat for this when this aired. They got death threats and were trashed and Heidi lost her job because of this season. (It was mainly for the stripping for peanut butter though)
***** I have to disagree, because Jenna does have a great point. If Christy got offended by someone saying she's not the only one with a disadvantage that's Christy being too sensitive. I remember watching the FTC with a friend of mine who's deaf, and even she was annoyed that Christy asked her question cause he agreed with Jenna that being young and pretty was a disadvantage in the game.
Wow, I never really noticed this, but Christy got mad for no reason during the final TC. She asked Jenna why she called being beautiful a handicap.....but it was ROB who said it. It's not like what Jenna said wasn't true either. In a game like this, people DO judge the young pretty girls before they get to know them. They're definately more likely to assume the young pretty girls are lazy, stupid, unwilling to get dirty, etc.
Rob’s rebuttal is so beautifully shady
Haha Rob C carried that season. Only if actually won :(

@starlinej haha alright fair enough, thanks for the clarification anyways.
well, in this kind of game, "good-looks" really is a "handicap" :p
