Love yourself - what a powerful message! Your videos have taught me so much in a short time and I just have to share that yesterday I was asked if I'm an actor! I was wearing a simple outfit of jeans, long-sleeved light green t-shirt, fleece vest with leopard print booties and matching belt styled with a French tuck and sunglasses. Nothing overtly 'fancy' at all but styled as you've taught me. What an ego boost! And my partner was pretty jazzed too, I think for his girlfriend to be thought of as glamorous. Thank you so very much for the advice and guidance, Marie-Anne!
I love the idea of learning from art! So true. I believe elegance also has to do with beauty from inside out: a wonderful brain, a desire to learn, a unique personality and so on.
I tried this test and ... I really am not able to say to myself : I love you Aleksandra 😊 By the way, all the recommendations in this video are some kind of lesson for life. Merci Marie- Anne 🙂
This is such a powerful message, Marie-Anne. I will do it! Thank you. It took me over half a century to get to this moment in time. Thank you. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Powerful words… serious illness can change one’s reflection which can be challenging to accept but who knows what new version of yourself is evolving?! 🌈 I loved each point offered! I, like many others, hear your voice when considering an outfit! You are talented and wise! Merci! 💕🙏🏻
Another brilliant video! I love the messages within, and advice always well delivered and on point! Learning to love ourselves can be a challenge, especially when we were raised as children to feel "less than"! It's a lifetime exercise, but a very important one!
Bon jour Marie-Anne, Shirley Bassey sang " I am what I am, I am my own special creation..." We are real women and reality is not Instagram. You show us the way to do the best for us in styling. It is like a trip to ourselves. Style underlines personality and we all have a personality, means, all of us can develop style. Your are big support for women!! Thank you 🙂
Marie-Anne you are always a breath of fresh air! Your comments on everything from developing our own style to learning what looks good on our body is the very essence of a French Chic Woman. Of course being able to love ourself and our body plays an important part in all aspects of our life. It also allows us to grow and become a better version of ourselves. Thank you for helping us get there! 🥰❤❤❤❤💋💋🙂
Marie-Anne, I learn so much from your videos, and this was so powerful and important! And I passed the test! I realize that I never say it, but when it came time to say it, I was able to say it and feel it! Thank you!
What a unique point of view! Inspiring! I love 💕 the shade of pink on your blouse. I hope it is the same as the cap sleeve LilySilk I ordered! Also interesting to think about turning a Non into a Wow even if it is already in your closet. I got rid of a few things months ago I probably should have kept. I have a one year box for undecideds & usually take out one or two & it feels like new pieces. I can’t wait to get home & try new outfit combinations! Merci, Marie-Anne! XO
A great insightful video Marie-Anne. We know what we feel great in. Now ask ourselves why? Observing is so important. I truly love myself now in my 50’s and dress for my shape and style. We have the self knowledge and wisdom of experience at our age. 💜
Wonderful steps and advice...the learning to accept your body was huge for me! I also realized that I hated the advice given to me to dress for my body type. I'm an hourglass with broad bone structure, and I hate showing off my curves. It makes me feel cheap. I kept buying figure hugging pieces and would never wear them out. I have finally found my style and am fine with finding masculine shapes (especially vintage/military/cowboy) with feminine touches in my accessories. It is an art!
Great video and a great lesson. Now, to go my closet & do another declutter, using this lesson. Pretty soon, my closet will be empty and I'll need to shop.
Merci beaucoup, Marie-Anne! We all are so much in this “having” thinking, real style par contre is they way we are… thank you that you encourage us to find out who we are and to remind us that we are lovely and loveable.
Oh my, Marie-Anne...just when I think you couldn't possibly provide another awesome video - you do it again!! This is wonderful!! I passed the test at the end! I'm also my best friend - we love all the same things!! LOL!!

Marie-Anne, such a great video. I’m not sure why we’re so hard on our selves. As a gotten older in the last 15 years I finally loving myself. It’s so true if you take care of yourself from the inside will show it on the outside.
Dear Marie-Anne! You are amazing! This video really hit home on several points especially #10. Then, there’s my self-critizing, feeling intimidated and lack of self-confidence. I’m not young. I’m 67. Shouldn’t I be past the fear of these things? I don’t want to waste money as I try to find who I am! I hope you can understand. It’s a struggle. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! Hugs! 💕😊
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Hello again Marie-Anne! Thank you so much for your encouragement and positivity! I have watched your suggested video above. I’m going to start a style journal. I see where it can help me to stay focused. I will keep in touch. Thank you again! May God bless you! 💕
Inspirational!! I’ve come to “like” myself…. Will try and push it out to the finish line 🤭. A friend of mine says about shopping for clothes, “if it doesn’t make your heart sing, don’t buy it”. Just like your if it’s not wow, it’s non! 💗
I taught patternmaking and design for 23 years. It is crucial to understand the physical and aesthetic characteristics of textiles. I completely agree that creating a personal style is actually quite liberating! Yes. I still make my share of style mistakes, but as in everything in life, forgive yourself and move forward. Critique; don't criticize, as you say. Thank you for your uplifting and wise videos!
Dear Ms. Lecouer: I love your first step; it's actually cognitive therapy (Aaron Beck): change the way you think and the behavior will change. I also like your last step: give ourselves a self-affirmation while looking in the mirror. Healthy self-love is vital, not narcissism. Your step about studying art history is also effective: learn about perspective, color, shadow, size, etc. to assist us in coordinating outfits. So much sage advice here; I am so appreciative of your knowledge and experience. Thank you for these lessons. Natalia Miles Arizona
Thank you Marie-Ann! My Mother was born in Lourdes came to USA in 1957 after her Fathers death-A French woman has Effortless beauty and you are a true example of this. Beautiful soul, and a very well balanced Woman ..Thank you for inspiring me! Diana
Dear Marie-Anne, I’m in Washington spending some vacation days and of course I had to visit my favorite stores. After learning what I have learned from you, I was checking every single piece that called my attention. Fabrics, quality, style, details and everything else went under my magnifier lens. Do I need it? Does it look gorgeous? Does it makes me feel wonderful? Is it amazing? And I must confess I ended up buying only a trench, one black jeans and two dress shirts after 4 days here. Do I feel good? I adore what I bought and specially the fact that I don’t need anything else for my wardrobe! So for that and more I thank you!
I've always liked that Lily Silk blouse. I think you normally wear a S in tops, so is it true to size? I'm in between S and M on that website and worry sizing up might look baggy but if it's too small it won't show off the luster and drape of the silk.
I find that choosing a style icon with a similar body shape to your own. I could want to dress like Audrey Hepburn but physically we are polar opposites and what she chooses to highlight, the designers/brands she uses, and how clothes fit on her will simply not be what will work on me. I love how Emma Peel of the Avengers dressed but she is well taller and well thinner than I ever was so I have learned to enjoy her as the artwork she is and not try to set myself up for failure by trying to dress in a way that doesn't suit my form. I'm also an apple so I look at other apples.
I think it is important to accept yourself, but I think there is a distinction between accepting your body and accepting your shape. It is important to learn which styles work best with your shape but I think too many people "accept" their body without paying it respect: eating healthy food, maintaining a healthy weight, and exercising their body.
