What a bright young man Farrow is!! How is he just 30 with such profound insight into diplomacy and knowledge of government? I would be immensely proud to be his parent! He is evidence there still is hope for the future generation!

Samwell T. ..... Hopefully one day.
I’m sure God allowed trump In the WH for a reason but quite what it is only He knows, i do believe super powers need to be brought low in order to bring humility and honesty to their nation and if it works in the right way they will be all the better for it. Grown up with a sense of ‘there by the grace of God go we’ instead of the no nation can beat us attitude which always ends in humility being dished out in shovel loads just have to look at the Great British Empire to learn that lesson.... maybe that’s what The Good Lord’s is trying to do.... grow His beloved nation up.

Tootsla 125 So with all those brains that were up there they still couldn't stop North Korea for longer than a day. Now if Colin Powell was so concerned with America why didn't he get off his couch and run for president? Answer because he and Rice knew what happened on 911. Trust me both of them are smart enough to know what would happen if they ran for president. So please keep your 30 year old genius to yourself....

As an Australian who has been watching US for decades I do not get why Americans are letting this happen. My family was from Poland and how can we not remember history and allow it to repeat once again ? Do Americans think that not spending on keeping the world safe will keep them safe ? Remember the fall of Greece, Rome, Egypt and Spain. Why does the USA want to join that list ?

Ronan has been one of the beacons of integrity in American journalism and diplomacy. The diplomatic cadres for 193 countries have been giving serious thought to the rot that has been corroding governance over the decades of corporate neoliberalism, and the result of diplomatic efforts to correct this catastrophe, is the approving by 193 countries in 2015 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs] for 2030.
Organizations like Global Affairs Canada have been quietly helping to build the literature base, and the training needed, for civil society activists to work on the kinds of policies that will restore good faith, rule of law, accountable governance. One area of urgent attention, is the fact that countries are needing to have common law of contract-based fair-trade deals, rather than secretive rent-seeking, patent-hoarding "free" trade deals.
These 17 SDGs can begin to revive the spirit of accountability and basic respect toward others that will make the culture of abuse and degradation something that is outside of the practices of civilization. The Weinstein example is the anthropomorphization of the values of predatory corporate undermining of equality and solidarity between people, and by 2030 we will be able to acculturate a different basis for relationships - if we treat society seriously instead of a plaything for personal self-interest.
Our relationship to the legal profession is also an area where there is hope for corrective action under the SDGs, ua-cam.com/video/Omzcq4OSHSI/v-deo.html

Anti-intellectualism is quite strong in US culture at the moment. Hence the decline of US influence. Look at the decline of Imperial Germany, Imperial Rome, and so on.

what's worse - the military being involved with the state department or the C.I.A..? i think anyone who has been paying attention can see that the state department is completely out of control.

This guy is a very sharp informative journalist. Something the political journalism culture fails at today is to exercise intimate perspective to both sides at conflict. What he has displayed here is the conflicting sides of a now traditional bureaucratic system meant to exercise a collective purview in responsible diplomatic decisions and a chief executive using his powers as an elected representative to reform a bloated bureaucratic mess that has fractured the clear and decisive diplomatic vision of the elected President.

During the height of the Vietnam War it was rumored( how would anyone prove it?) that state department employees past information to the Soviets, Cubans and North Vietnamese to aid them in their negotiations for peace. CIA thought it a possibility but it was done by individuals not the department. If true, how many years did it go on?

This is the type of person we need as President, brilliant, educated, global thinker, charismatic, expert diplomat, ethically balanced. The state and status of the US would be in different place at home and in the World with this kind of leader heading the country. I hope one day he makes the decision to run for office.
