  • Elon Musk’s reported influence over the U.S. government is discussed by Ronan Farrow who investigates Musk’s businesses, behavior, and more in a new exposé. "There is so much to be said about the ways in which he has pushed progress meaningfully, and we have benefited from that,” Farrow tells Joy Reid. “But also he is a figure that makes it difficult to rely on him."

There's also Leonard Leo & many other Federalist Society billionaires who own rogue SCOTUS & other justices across the board. Time to clean house in our judicial system & end dark money in politics & SCOTUS, as Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse has led the charge for years to do so.

The day he walked into Twitter's HQ carrying a bathroom sink, I knew he was on a "Twitter destruction speed run mission". He's had that for a long time. Probably long before he came to the US. Seems like a combination of Henry Ford, J D Rockefeller, Citizen Kane, and Kanye. If he keeps spacing out, he might end up like Howard Hughes, with all that money, but afraid to leave his hotel room or mansion(s). Isn't he already known for not having an actual official residence? Just always on the move. As long as he's making money for others, as well as himself, he'll still have a seat at the table. But if he causes too much of a ruckus, various governments and other elite puppet masters may decide that he needs to take a lower profile. Like Putin decided with his former caterer yesterday. The US govt. doesn't hesitate to clip the wings of former partners like Saddam or Noriega. No one is above being checked or checkmated. That's the life in this crazy world of ours...

There should be limits to how much gross income of a company can go to executives. Political campaigns should be more aggressively taxed and regulated. Politicians probably shouldn't own tradable resources like stocks and if they do, it should be publicly reported and regulated. Wake up people, this is all propaganda because the Biden admin doesn’t like him. Because he bought Twitter and exposed the illegal corrupt influence that the government was exhorting on Twitter and by extension all other social media companies. These companies receive immunity from lawsuits because they are supposed to be impartial and allow all opinions to be published on their platforms instead of censoring them because the government wants them to. When the government had meetings with electric car makers, Tesla was not invited even though they basically pioneered the modern industry and everyone said electric cars were ridiculous. Tesla didn’t receive any money from the government either unlike their competition at GM and Ford. How is that fair?
The government is using SpaceX to shuttle astronauts to the space station, but they are far from the only choice, just the cheapest and fastest, thanks to the innovations of SpaceX. Again, he and his team have revolutionized the industry through innovation. You people want to punish him for hat because talking heads tell you he is too rich and too powerful.
As far as the internet, again Musk and SpaceX pioneered internet satellites for the public, and ALLOWED Ukraine to use them for free for a short time. You think he should be punished for that? Our country and many other countries sending money to Ukraine have satellite communications they could share with Ukraine if they wanted to.
You are being fed an agenda and are blindly agreeing because it is packaged to sound nice and seems to make sense as long as you don’t think about it too hard. Big bad rich man, of course not big bad government, Capitalist should be punished and limited because he is too good at innovation.

Elon Musk has problems controlling his emotions. A recent interview provided an excellent example of his emotional immaturity in controlling his anger whenever he feels threatened. If the interviewer had been one of his employees he would have been fired. When the interviewer asked him why he made controversial comments that lead to the loss of advertisers, there was a long pause by Musk who's looking somewhere else like he frequently does, followed by obvious anger, as witnessed by his face getting red and his non-blinking stare. This followed by one of his many shoot from the hip comments, something on the order of "I don't care, if it leads to the loss of money so be it, I'll say what I want". He brings up free speech like he usually does. He doesn't seem to understand that free speech is not an absolute right without possible consequences including being held responsible for any harm resulting from exercising that right. Although he might not care, I'm sure his board of directors, shareholders, and some of his current and potential future customers care. And ultimately, he will care if the money begins to dry up.

Now it seems like the government relies heavily on contractors, privatization of services, etc. Does the government actually oversee anything anymore?

Yeah, people forget the republics and democracies aren't a default humans veer towards. It's something we work very hard to maintain and protect, specifically from people like Musk. Because here is the unfortunate reality: people like Musk running the world due to the unbalanced power they amass are the default, or did everyone forget that 300 years ago, all British land and colonies were literally owned by one person; the monarch. And that, before that, land and resources were owned by a class of competitive statesmen; feudal lords. I honestly struggle to see the difference between our modern economic frameworks and that of medieval feudal systems.

Our federal government has lost its collective mind and the public isn't responding as quickly as it should. I think so much is going on with technology, societal change, climate change, income disparity, etc., that the public is in shock and doesn't know where to begin to solve the problems. To me, the first issue to tackle is the role of dark money in politics. We need to change our electoral process by eliminating the Electoral College and make all elections funded by the public with total transparency. That should make dealing with the other critical issues much faster and easier.
