Ronan Farrow's new report alleges 'set of warnings about Elon Musk’ some close to him are sounding

- Elon Musk’s reported influence over the U.S. government is discussed by Ronan Farrow who investigates Musk’s businesses, behavior, and more in a new exposé. "There is so much to be said about the ways in which he has pushed progress meaningfully, and we have benefited from that,” Farrow tells Joy Reid. “But also he is a figure that makes it difficult to rely on him."

The newest thing for billionaires is to own a Supreme Court Justice...like Harlan Crow owning Clarence Thomas.
We talking about Uncle Clarence, The NFT?
There's also Leonard Leo & many other Federalist Society billionaires who own rogue SCOTUS & other justices across the board. Time to clean house in our judicial system & end dark money in politics & SCOTUS, as Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse has led the charge for years to do so.
My N huh?
That's not even new. Thomas has been for sale for two decades.

This is why journalism matters. You may not like the message, but I think, that makes it all the more important.
Truthful journalism....based on real facts...So many people believe BS these days.
Most important? Bury this right wing traitor.
It’s time to rid the world of these right wing animals. For good.
Journalism is about conveying the whole story of what happened putting in extra effort to be as objective as possible and include every possible perspective on the issue. Journalism is NOT giving opinion and political statements.
@@marko6489 Agreed - though there are an awful lot to “news” (FOX, Newsmax) outlets that are really just opinions.
Mainstream news people do report the news and most of them do report the facts (most), but we all have to accept, that not liking certain news, doesn’t make it less factual.
Reporting on facts and truth are what the American people are looking for.
The good thing is that his handling of twitter has allowed us to realize how dangerous he is before it’s too late
The day he walked into Twitter's HQ carrying a bathroom sink, I knew he was on a "Twitter destruction speed run mission". He was obviously going to "sink the company" or take it "down the drain". His humor is never subtle. He probably felt it had too many liberals using it, so he's making it toxic to us. I cancelled my account that day. It will end up being a right-wing echo chamber.

How can any of these lunatic democrats really believe that Biden or his criminal family are serving America well? what a joke--they must be brain dead
Don't be silly, we don't privatize everything. The innovation© industry has not yet "invented" patents for air (ie, particular ephemeral volumes of breathable gaseous particles, as the innovators™ might put it).
This is a serious missed opportunity and is ultimately costing the American taxpayers billions annually! Capitalist© industry™ **INNOVATION** is badly needed, to make sure people can breath quality, affordably-priced air
It's impossible to imagine because it's not reality. People like Musk and Bill Gates, Bezos etc are all likely agents of the US government. These technologies we see in the mainstream are developed in black projects long before they see the light of day. That goes for the new AI boom as well.

When the interviewer asked him why he made controversial comments that lead to the loss of advertisers, there was a long pause by Musk who's looking somewhere else like he frequently does, followed by obvious anger, as witnessed by his face getting red and his non-blinking stare. This followed by one of his many shoot from the hip comments, something on the order of "I don't care, if it leads to the loss of money so be it, I'll say what I want". He brings up free speech like he usually does. He doesn't seem to understand that free speech is not an absolute right without possible consequences including being held responsible for any harm resulting from exercising that right. Thank god for true investigative journalism and people like Ronan Farrow illuminating the tilt of this American ride we're on.
Private corporations influencing political discourse is literally the definition of fascism.
This applies to partisan media corporations as well.
it's crazy how quickly this news report becomes incomprehensible
Hes leaking money as if he were a colander.... he's also mentally unstable
Right like Biden is super mentally stable lol… this outlet props up Biden who is clearly a puppet.
Trump? Oh, Musk.
He addicted to keatmine
Musk & DeSatan are profound racists, pandering to white supremacists.
Businesses should NEVER have become this powerful. I guess in some ways, they have been (such as transportation, TV networks, phone companies) but it's gotten much worse. The government needs to take back control of a lot of things, break up companies that are too large and powerful.
They need to not consider a corporation as a person any longer but laws need to be change for that.
Every civilization has people like this. This is not new nor is it "unprecedented". Just empires being empires and nobles being nobles but in a post-industrial package.
Wisdom speaks🎉.☮️
This report highlights how the idea of a smaller government substituted by powerful private corporations run by individuals with all the ups and downs of private life can impact masses of ordinary citizens who have no control over these untouchable systems because they are out of reach of the voting system.
Wow! Ronan Farrow. It's been awhile. Good to have the best on this show. and Joy can bring out the best.
The guy is spreading himself too thin, even for a billionaire. . .
For how many companies can you be an effective CEO?
Whatever that number was before Twitter?
In his case, none
For him? Zero.

PayPal/X, Tesla, SpaceX
Neuralink, The Boring Company
DeepMind Technologies, SolarCity.
He doesn't need to be. He has underlings doing that.
Not one person should have all that power, and no company should either.
They are monopolies in all but name
It's highly dangerous to allow people to become that rich. Used to tax them, that's where our infrastructure monies went.
Yeah, people forget the republics and democracies aren't a default humans veer towards. It's something we work very hard to maintain and protect, specifically from people like Musk. Because here is the unfortunate reality: people like Musk running the world due to the unbalanced power they amass are the default, or did everyone forget that 300 years ago, all British land and colonies were literally owned by one person; the monarch. And that, before that, land and resources were owned by a class of competitive statesmen; feudal lords. I honestly struggle to see the difference between our modern economic frameworks and that of medieval feudal systems.
Elon Musk makes Howard Hughes look like a choir boy.
Respect to Ronan -- and to Joy for having him on and highlighting this issue!!
Where exactly is the issue? The Russians are trying to steal everything around them by force from others that worked hard to get it and you think you have an issue?
Teddy Roosevelt wouldn't have allowed this situation to develop to this point.
I haven't met the guy to know him but I watched one video of him in a small town in germany where people were complaining to him about water pollution due to elon's battery factory there. He arrogantly denied and asked with a grin to the people behind him "Do you see any water problem in this city?" and went hahaha. After watching that I knew he is a sociopath.
Here's the problem with this odd assertion you are making- they are not yet making battery cells at the Berlin Factory. You really should check the facts for yourself instead of taking the word of extremists.

Ronan Farrow is one of the top investigative reporters of this era.
EVER INVESTIGATE A DEMOCRAT.❓
NOPE...TYPICAL MSNBC DEM TROLL...
better investigative reporter than any other disney character at least
Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Fink, Rupert Murdoch... There's more, help me out here.
Bezzos is totally destroying retail and small businesses.
Billionaires should not exit. Nobody pools that kind of obscene wealth around themselves without exploiting populations in their wake.
Great questions from the interviewer, and very straightforward answers, all in a short clip. I wish TV were like this more often.
I thought that this might just be a slam-dunk hit piece against Elon BUT Ronan just presented certainly one of the best balanced presentation of a of polarized super complex subject I have heard. A great reflection of what the press can do ... and why it is so important. Wow!
TRUTH. we need more journalism like this.
Indeed!
Investigative reporters are always the best. And this gentleman is extremely good.
People paying attention didn't need Ronan Farrow to point all this out.
Imma tell you right now, this is too much for 1 person to handle. It’s not just “him” it’s him and a group of elite people in charge that aren’t household names (or we can’t link them to his companies easily).
Regulate the charging station so every vehicle had access. It's unbelievably how government has lost control of corporations. Monopolies were regularly broken up when it benefittted citizens.
Now corporations benefit executives and society is not a consideration.
Bigger yachts and spaceships will not help you.
Our federal government has lost its collective mind and the public isn't responding as quickly as it should. I think so much is going on with technology, societal change, climate change, income disparity, etc., that the public is in shock and doesn't know where to begin to solve the problems. To me, the first issue to tackle is the role of dark money in politics. We need to change our electoral process by eliminating the Electoral College and make all elections funded by the public with total transparency. That should make dealing with the other critical issues much faster and easier.
Most of us are just trying to survive and getting by paycheck to paycheck right now. =(
The first step is to vote blue because they are our only hope to even address any of this. The republicans are pro everything awful getting way worse.
That's what the right wing likes; it drains your strength and keeps you busy. They don't want to do that so they get rich in office.@@haikuoflife
It can't happen Fast Enough for me!

Absolutely trust and love Ronan Farrow ! So good to see and hear him ! Thanks Joy !
Long ago, my son and I said we'd one day come to "Running Man" and "The Terminator."
Ronan is one of my heroes. So happy to see him with Joy, thank you for this video.
Interesting connection: government privatization meaning a whacko billionaire dilettante is now one of the most powerful warlords in the world with millions of lives at risk
I've seen drawings of Musk as Jesus Christ and we have people worshipping him like one, too. Something weird is going on.
The privatization idea is mainly so legislators friends can get rich but that opens the door to this kind of thing as well. Isn’t that lovely.
