Yesterday, as I was doing my devotions, a widow at church came to my mind and the word apples. I took her 12 red delicious apples and 1 butternut squash that grew volunteer. You'd think I'd given her a gold nugget in that squash. Thankful I obeyed the Holy Spirit. We've got to think of the widows among us. ❤
I was watching another channel. The man put a table under a tree in the shade. When he had extra vegetables from his garden, he would put them on the table. Other people in the neighborhood started bringing extras they had from their garden over and putting food on his table. I had a small garden this year. I called several neighbors to come pick what they needed. It was picked early morning and on their table for evening meal. They called the next day commenting on how much better the food tasted. You would think I had given them a pot of gold. Planted in 30 inch tall raised beds. They did not have to bend over to pick bush beans. It was a blessing to be able to provide something to them. They all loved the raised beds. They could not bend to pick veggies. It does not take much effort on our part to help others. It brought tears to my eyes seeing them get fresh veggies that they were able to pick and how excited to be able to pick them. Take the time to bless someone
I gave one of my neighbors some green beans I canned ,some new potatoes, and a few tomatoes. They loved it. She's about to get some eggs. I'll never eat them all, but it's nice to have them and to be able to share.
I remember the girl ahead of me in line at Kroger years ago buying a birthday cake with food stamps. The guy behind me was loudly chastising her. I felt so bad. As if her child didn’t deserve a cake to celebrate her birthday. 😢. People need to be a little more compassionate. As the saying goes, “we are all just walking each other home…..”

Speaking of ungrateful people & snobbish people. Some years ago, I was an assistant manager at a fast food place. A couple came thru the drive thru and asked me if we could give them something to eat and their two little girls that was in the car. That they didn't have any money. Now, I could have been fired for this, but me and another manager made each one a regular sandwich, order of fries & and coke. Handed them the bag of food and the drinks and was nice and said God bless them, etc. The woman looked in the bag and asked if we would switch to bigger, special sandwiches. 🙄🙄🤬 Are you kidding me? We were taking a chance on losing our job to feed them and they wanted better!! At that point, they were told to take what they were offered or nothing & leave. I wasn't happy, try to help somebody & they wanted better
I volunteered at the food pantry at my church. Anyone is welcome to come get food assistance. We once were able to get a large quantity of frozen pizzas so every family was given 2 along with other foods. We had a family ask if we had another variety since their children didn’t like sausage😮. That would not have happened at my house. If someone in the family didn’t like an ingredient in food I prepared they could pick out the offending ingredient and eat the food.

I exclusively sale shop. I have a solid backstock of items I like and use. I go around to a number of different stores weekly and look at their clearance items, flash sales, etc and stock up if it’s something I (or someone i know) like. I don’t ever make a list of “needs” as I don’t “need” anything. If you get yourself to this point, it makes life really easy shopping-wise.
I just donated 200 Christmas boxes to be distributed for the season to needy families in our area. I was inspired by the Christmas shoebox videos and did what I could on a smaller scale. I also donate shampoo, body wash and diapers to the same charity once a week. We can do more than we think to help others feel better. Do not listen to the naysayers. Thank you, Patara
Good evening Patara, your Blessing box is incredible. My husband is going to build one Lord willing, when he gets caught up with work and put it out. Nasty people are not needed.
I totally agree with you sister. This morning we bought Bushes Beans , sugar, salt, cat food & several other things. I already had some of everything but just wanted a bigger cushion. I feed a homeless man several meals a week & give canned & dry goods to a single man that’s raising 3 teenage sons. He is working hard & has job but is struggling. I don’t tell anyone because I don’t do it for praise. Let’s all continue to stick together on prepping & helping those that truly need. PS we love our Bushes Beans in small town hillbilly Oklahoma ❤️
My best preps are coming from the meat dept.! I know my butcher marks things down early in the morning, so I grab all I'm able to pressure can! My 90+ yr old folks, can't chew as well as they used to, so THIS is truly a savings!
I am right with you!! My Kroger has markdown sections for everything from meat, to vegetables, frozen foods, bakery and canned goods. Started about 6 months ago to try and live off markdowns and it is working. If you are near a Kroger walk around and find out where each section is.
I honestly a lot of these negative people are just sitting back on their hiney buckets doing nothing but causing others grief. I did a lot of shopping today and it was all pickups-trying to stay out of the stores.. FOOD prices are absolutely insane!
If you can cook or use crock pot - dry beans or lentils are a great deal (lentils can cook quick) - one bag of dry beans =abouts 4+ cans. I got 5 bags for ~ $7 at Wmart.
I’ve learned much from this channel. There are a few things I didn’t agree with - but now - I understand where you and this good community are coming from each day. Thank you, Patara … and each of you here. I can’t do all you do - but I do all I can. Thank you all. 🌷
I didn't buy any cans this weekend when I went shopping, but I did buy 20 pounds of carrots that I will be canning on Thursday. Some weeks it is cans and other weeks it is canning.
We canned 11 pints of pizza sauce, 10 of salsa,17 of catsup and prepped 6 trays of apples for the freeze dryer. I only have 2 empty pints left and I have been canning for 20 years. 2 cases of qts left, as well. 😂
You did great Patera. I, fortunately don’t need a blessing box and would happily eat and use every single thing you purchased. Whoever received your items will surely be thrilled!
I drove a semi one time to to the Bush Bean factory. What a twisty little road for the last 5 miles off the big highway. You don't know me, but I tell you I would have loved to take home a trailer full of the original recipe. Imagine how long that would last for one family!
Just did a quick trip to Aldi for my mom and Walmart and found SPAM on sale! Havent seen it under $3.00 for months and months. Might have to go back and get more. My 4 grandkids love Pinapple/ SPAM fried rice. Cheap and easy. 😊 Gas is over $5 now here.
There have been times in my life, as a child, when my family would have been thrilled with anything you put in your blessing box. Obviously people that don’t appreciate your good heart have never really been in need. 🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️💕☝🏻
I canned over the weekend. 7 quarts of chicken,6 quarts of beef and 8 pints of Taco meat. Stocked up on some canned fruit and greens. Those Glory honey carrots are really good. Continue to pray. Love to all.
Paterra is right! There are countless Bible verses about guarding our minds and hearts against sin. One of them is “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!” Matthew 6:22-25.
The story of the widow's mite or widow's offering is a biblical story found in Mark 12:41-44 and Luke 21:1. It describes how Jesus observed a poor widow who gave two small copper coins to the temple treasury, while many rich people gave much more. Jesus praised the widow's gift as more valuable than the others, because it represented a greater proportion of her wealth.
Patara, I just love you, you tell us the truth, and we need it, especially the new people that just woke up. I woke up 3 years ago. My husband fusses that I pick up several cans, or frozen veggies to put in my panty and freezer. You keep up the good work, and we are going to get through this. God will take care of us that believe.
Dehydrated eggs today, canned 14 pints of chicken on the weekend. Teaching a friend to pressure can beef stew this week. My preps are everything: homemade, storebought, etc. Hunger doesn't read labels. Prices HAVE gone up! Did a quick Aldi run. I used to pack a cart for $100. Half a cart this time.
Think you're referring to the "Excuse me" comment. I saw it and started to reply, but figured why throw gas on a 🔥. If people are hungry, they'll care less about processed foods. Once, when our kids were small, I heard about mothers in 3rd world countries creating sun baked dirt cookies to fill their children's bellies... That stuck with me...
I'm not being flip at all. It's 9/11, I grew up in NY and we don't leave our house. Tomorrow is Benghazi and that's thank you Killary. I'll be checking out prices this week. Everyone be safe ❤️🇺🇸❤️
You're my inspiration girl. I just got done canning 11 quarts of spaghetti sauce today and I have done up 15 pints and 6 quarts of sauce the other day thank you for everything you do an say . Keep up the fight girl.
Canned some salsa verde today, the peppers are going strong! Forget the naysayers, you always speak the truth and care about what's right. I'd love to have your energy, but at almost 70, I do my best in the morning. Bless you my dear
Love your "just grab extra". My grandson requested red velvet birthday cake. What's the one flavor i didn't have, yep 😊. And, no red food coloring. So down the baking aisle, grabbed extra bags of sugar and found canned cherries on clearance. Normally 4.47 a can, on clearance for 1.23, with a 2026 best buy date. Yep I took them all😊
During "lockdown" 2020 I shopped for my elderly parents and several times couldn't get what was in the list. Many times I had to wait 20-30 minutes to get into Costco, grocery stores just to find no eggs, no milk, no rice, no butter, no paper towels etc.. I started going to a restaurant supply store and bought 10-20 lb bags of beans, rice, pasta, lentils, salt and spices. As soon as TP was restocked I loaded my car. I hit every sale and stocked up on canned goods. The difference in prices on everything in 2-3 years has been 30-50%. STOCK UP as best you can
I am one of the people that has to use the food pantry. I’m very thankful for all the people donate. I share with my MIL and sister. You feel good Sharing…
I already have been buying for the Holiday meals for Thanksgiving/Christmas. I got a ham shank that use to run $8 or $9 and found it for $20.00. The tiny bit bigger boneless was $36.00 just a shame but I got the shank and froze it. For all I know that ham could run $50.00 by Christmas time.
The Glory canned carrots are good they have a strong sweet and slight citrus flavor. The Glory brand and Margaret Holmes brand are good hefty old fashion cans. The Margaret Holmes tomato okra and corn canned vegetable medley is a good versatile mixed vegetables for extending meals. It tastes real good mixed in with the Hormel chunky beef chili with beans or Great Value three bean mix. The DelMonte zucchini in tomato sauce is good mixed with a can of the Chef Boyardee beef raviolis. Both meal combinations also taste good served cold if the power is out. The DelMonte zucchini in tomato sauce is also good poored over pasta. A third and forth good two can pantry meal is chicken -n- dumplings or beef stew with a can of Margaret Holmes tomato lima bean and corn vegetable medley. A real frugal emergency meal is pasta with a thick sauce made from Contadina tomato paste italian pesto flavored. It has enough of a feta cheese and italian seasonings already in the tomato paste that you wont need to add a lot of extra cheese. Also good as a pizza sauce. Hope these ideas are helpful for someone. The can of the mixed greens Patara's shown on other videos is a good buy. It's enough to make about three or four quiches if no spinach is available.
That's why I never tell anyone what I am doing. It's only between me and God. I nothing happens, I can at least say that I, at58 years old, finally learned how to can😂❤
A tiny bottle .6 ounces of whole cloves at Walmart 6.50! Yes Patara gas is crazy. We have two Indian casinos that sell gas around 50¢ per gallon less than stations in town. Currently gas is around $5 or more casino stations are $4.48. They are busy directing cars to pumps. I'm in a small town in foothills Northern California. Family keeps us here.
Cancelled my Sam's club membership. Didn't use it often enough to pay for the membership. I figured at one point that having another source of food/water/whatever would be a good idea. But with just me to worry about now, I'm getting nickel and dimed to death with fees, so that's one I could let go painlessly. Picked up some bread and that's all I really needed in town and came home. I don't 'need' anything from stores for quite a while, but I realize I'm fortunate in that regard. I built my life toward this goal.
*****A tip Walmart here in Monroe Lousiana always has their largest canned seasoned mustard greens for $1.00 not turnip not collard those are #1.98. Just mustard greens and they are good . If you can't get fresh salad this would be a wonderful green to stock up on. And those best by dates are normally 3 years out!!***
7 more pints of tomato sauce canned today. Had to buy peppers and green beans from the farmers market but that's ok. They will be going in the canner tomorrow. I just met a woman my age who seriously wants to learn how to pressure can. I will be teaching her in a week or two.
Miss Maple pooping on Mom is a no-no! As for negative comments, hateful people need to just hush! I did my ten yestetday! Many peas and organic pumpkin. Keep on keeping on Patara!
Gas $4.09 (northern Arizona). Just ordered and received 2 large Wal Mart shipping orders. Put in the extra order for a few items that we might get low on this winter. I will probably put in another order in a week or two. Out of the house one day next week so don't want anything possibly delivered that day. Remember 9/11 even if the crappy in chief couldn't be bothered.
I watched that vid & my 1st thought was that Gabriel so enjoyed helping last time in a vid, & how wonderful it was that he could do it again:) Never once would I scrutinize what you bought bc it's charity. It'll put some food on someone's shelf who otherwise wouldn't have anything. If these folks have bookoo $ & only put organic food in blessing boxes, more power to 'em! But, you don't trash someone else's good deed! That's just rude, & it's evil - trying to diminish goodness. Glad to know you handled it well♡
Funny how people make comments without thinking. Maybe its because they've never been hungry enough for long enough. When food is scarce people will eat anything. Remember the Irish potato famine? People were eating grass. Forget them. XO 😚
I’ve seriously ramped up stocking over this last year and went into double time over the past three months. We have four kids, three have families of their own. We’re expecting our 4th grandkid in January and our 5th in February. Our nearest neighbors live a mile away. They are a young couple with a toddler. My intent is to have enough to help our kids, their families and at least our nearest neighbors when it’s needed. Realistically I know that there may be extended family and other neighbors that may need our help. If we can, we will, but not at the expense of our kids and grand babies. They come first.
My husband thought I was making a deal out of nothing when I talked about prices rising.. what’s a few cents here and there, he would say. Until he went to the hardware store for items for a project of his. Boy, did he learn the truth quickly! Now he is aware, and even talking to me about buying supermarket value ranges. -I’ve been doing that for years.
I am glad you call out the fools that make those stupid comments. There was a time in my life I was a desperate young mother trying to feed my family. If someone would have given me anything, I would have been so thankful!!!!!! I assure you those going to the blessing box are thankful! I promise you that the people making those comments are not helping ANYONE!!!!!! I despise Wal Mart but have had to go more lately because my regular stores don't have some of the things I want/need. The Wal Mart Supercenter has almost no flour, sugar, rice, and dried beans. It looks like 2020! I am SOOOOOO thankful I have been stocking, using, replacing and rotating CONSTANTLY for three years. Last month I did a huge Costco haul, I have a massive Azure Standard haul ordered this week, and a Sam's Club pick up order filling up. Right now we are basically topping everything off, buying what I need for holiday baking, medical supplies, toiletries, etc. so that I can be a Fall/Winter homebody. Take care sweet lady!
I took a few months off from buying preps. I've been canning like crazy. But today Lidl had a sale $10 for 10 on cans of black beans, corn, garbanzo beans, dry peas, dry beans 1lbs bags. I stocked up. Feels good to fill in the holes.
I was so busy this last week but I did see you rock that 🏃🏽♀️ and you were talking while you ran! You have all of my respect for still getting out there and doing it for yourself! I’m so proud of you for being you! I don’t watch tv and I stopped using fakebook back in 2012. Keep on keeping on.🙏🏼❤️Tracy ®️🦅

I don’t ever make a list of “needs” as I don’t “need” anything. If you get yourself to this point, it makes life really easy shopping-wise.
That's how I shop too. Shop the sales, clearance racks and discount grocery stores.
I’m learning
Still going no ðriver to day so working on a fall garden. If it doesn't produces. I can say I tried. Keep up the work. Your 86 year old friend.
In Canada those cans of Bush beans are almost 3 bucks each! Not in my budget.
My mom has no molars. Canned meat is great for her.
If you think food is expensive in America you should see the prices in Canada.
I have heard the prices are really high for Canadians. 😢
Yes!!! I am trying to not cry everyday...Moving forward in faith. Thank you, Patera.
I am there with you we need to pray for each other
Me too.Way too much stress !
I honestly a lot of these negative people are just sitting back on their hiney buckets doing nothing but causing others grief. I did a lot of shopping today and it was all pickups-trying to stay out of the stores.. FOOD prices are absolutely insane!
Jesus says when you even give a cup of water to someone in my name that you have done it unto me.
Ty for your caring and selfless heart. 💕
I am a 70 yr young widow. I shop once a month when my Social Security check comes. When I have extra, I also donate to my church's food pantry.
If you can cook or use crock pot - dry beans or lentils are a great deal (lentils can cook quick) - one bag of dry beans =abouts 4+ cans. I got 5 bags for ~ $7 at Wmart.
Lentils can be sprouted, too.
Yes! Just canned & put up seven quarts of lentil-vegetable soup. Seven sustainable meals to put up in my pantry. Very budget friendly to do this! ❤️
Yep 👍🏼 and make sure to stock up on herbs and spices to add flavours
I’ve learned much from this channel. There are a few things I didn’t agree with - but now - I understand where you and this good community are coming from each day. Thank you, Patara … and each of you here. I can’t do all you do - but I do all I can. Thank you all. 🌷
And that's all any of us can do!!! If each of us each do just one thing, it makes the world a better place!!!!
me as well and it is getting harder for all of us
I didn't buy any cans this weekend when I went shopping, but I did buy 20 pounds of carrots that I will be canning on Thursday.
Did a rotation for the 2023 canned goods. Donated extra veg in cans one case of everything you can name 8 shopping carts. Food bank had ZERO food.
Wow, you are an Angel❤
I drove a semi one time to to the Bush Bean factory. What a twisty little road for the last 5 miles off the big highway. You don't know me, but I tell you I would have loved to take home a trailer full of the original recipe. Imagine how long that would last for one family!
I know that twisty little road!
A couple generations I would think.
I go shopping and its so ridiculous I get buyers remorse. Then I remember prices are just going to keep going up and I'm glad I did.
Lol, my “special” tumbler from Amazon came the other day 😂. Lorie 😊
I can’t wait to take mine to work at the hospital 😂

Just did a quick trip to Aldi for my mom and Walmart and found SPAM on sale! Havent seen it under $3.00 for months and months. Might have to go back and get more. My 4 grandkids love Pinapple/ SPAM fried rice. Cheap and easy. 😊 Gas is over $5 now here.
YIKES! Gas here (AL)is $3.27. Love your Spam/pineapple fried rice idea!
Gas 5 where?
@@CherylVarner-vw1uv kitsap county in WA state, our gas here is 5.19 🙁
@@hayleeveach5807 Virginia here. It was 3.55 last week
5.89 for mid grade in Southern California 😢
There have been times in my life, as a child, when my family would have been thrilled with anything you put in your blessing box. Obviously people that don’t appreciate your good heart have never really been in need. 🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️💕☝🏻
I canned over the weekend. 7 quarts of chicken,6 quarts of beef and 8 pints of Taco meat. Stocked up on some canned fruit and greens. Those Glory honey carrots are really good. Continue to pray. Love to all.
I thought the blessing box was a cool idea.
Oh my goodness. I give to blessing boxes and never thought of a complaint. You bought tide for goodness sakes.
You inspire me so much Patara! I filled 3 blessing boxes today and you know, I am the one with the blessings. Thank you again
❤❤❤❤
@9:39 ... That Right THERE ... "Says ... It ALL" ... Your Husband IS TRULY a "BLESSED Man" ... NUFF Said!
We've been in a recession for a while now. Depression is just around the corner. I am canning/buying/storing as fast as I can. God bless everyone.
Then your husband doesn't get to eat them!!🤣
Funny to see the baked beans. We just went to Walmart over the weekend and bought a case of the big cans.
A full tummy is a full tummy. Bioengineered or not. When it comes down to it, when people get hungry, they will eat what is provided!!
Maui.. warning shot - all I will say!
"What black swan's gonna poop on us first?" Hysterical!!
STOCK UP as best you can
That is a mother's love! We love our kids. 😊
I use the ham shank in a crockpot of 15 bean soup. Lots of cornbread on the side.
There’s only 2 of us so I have the butcher cut it in half length wise
Excellent suggestions!
I grew up hungry mostly everyday, i did not care food was food.
I’ve donated food, housewares, quilts, and even Christmas for a family. Canning and dehydrating for 2 of my own families. God Bless you, Patara!
When you are hungry we are blessed by what we are given.... I say this from experience... Please spread love...
I'm with you, Patara. If nothing ever happens, we'll have the biggest potluck the world has ever known!
Hey you guys read some comments & like them! It helps out in the long run! Blessings❣️
Those making the negative comments will buy anything they can get their grubby hands on when the shelves are bare.
7 more pints of tomato sauce canned today. Had to buy peppers and green beans from the farmers market but that's ok. They will be going in the canner tomorrow. I just met a woman my age who seriously wants to learn how to pressure can. I will be teaching her in a week or two.
I am teaching a friend of mine
I have notice in Washington state not only are prices are going up but the best buy dates are getting shorter. Instead of 2025 they are now 2024.
Miss Maple pooping on Mom is a no-no!
As for negative comments, hateful people need to just hush!
I did my ten yestetday! Many peas and organic pumpkin.
Keep on keeping on Patara!
Your blessing box videos are informative and inspirational. ❤
You are a blessing to many people.
Roll beautiful bean footage. 🐕😊
Just say a prayer for the negative people and keep the blessings flowing!
Thank you. I saw this on another channel today. If you can walk on water, the haters will say, it's because you can't swim. ✝️🌍❤️
Never had facebook, no regrets!!!!!!!!!
Also, go to the market at 7 am -- fewer shoppers.
Still, there will be empty shelves, and what cans they have are spread out.
