We have a nice neighbor who comes to our church. He invited me to come over to his (HUGE) garden this morning. He picked me a big bag of green beans. Also gave me green & yellow zucchini & cucumbers. I gave him a dozen eggs. He doesn't have chickens. I plan to make him some zucchini bread. I'll take it to him on Sunday at church. I was amazed at the size of his garden. It's over 3 acres plus he has a green house that is about 20 X 20 feet.
I would love to have a greenhouse!

I live in GA. Our property taxes doubled this year, all groceries have doubled, gas has gone up again. Utilities have doubled. No vacations, no new clothes or shoes, no housing to be found or way overpriced. We are working our tails off, it's so disgusting what this government is doing to us.

I AM disabled, on disability, due to getting hit by a drunk illegal immigrant a few years ago, quite a few now I guess.
I was buying a house with 5 acres on land contract. Can't earn money, laying in a hospital bed for over a year and can't walk.
I live in northern Michigan, I did 3 winters in a tent, and 3 winters in a camper. I was homeless for over 7 years fighting to get disability, living in a tent or a camper, mostly in the national forest, because I refused to go to a homeless shelter, and I refused to get rid of my dog, 140 pound Mastiff mix. I couldn't get rid of him even if I was willing to, He didn't like anyone, growled at everyone, 13 years never bit anyone. That's not because he wouldn't. I never let him have the opportunity.
The drunk, no license, no insurance, no registration, illegal immigrant WAS NOT PROSECUTED OR DEPORTED
Anyways, besides the point.
I worry about exactly what she's talking about. I get a soc. sec. disability check of less than $1000 a month, a food card less than $200 a month, gov't. subs, apartment, etc etc. Everything is coming from the broke azz gov't. And I am concerned about just that, what am I going to do when it stops. I'm 60, with a fckd up back, pelvis, etc can't do hardly anything, and what I do takes me forever to get done.
I did 7 years being homeless already. I have the gear and the experience to be able to do it again. That sure as hell doesn't mean I want to, or look forward to it. Even though I believe it's inevitable eventually. How long can you get away with spending money you don't have???? The government is going to be able to get away with it for so long as well before bad sht starts to happen. The only place the government gets money is by taking it from the people and calling it taxes. B.S. Where's the government going to get money from when the people don't have any to take from them??
I am very concerned about the poor pets, none of this is their fault.
We are fortunate to have shelters because it is the height of cruelty to drop pets off in the country. 😡

One thing I did was start buying the packaged soup mixes that you only need is to add water to. I've got 5 gallon buckets filled with them. Soup can feed a lot of people for cheap! Canning up a storm right now.

Here in Cali, every bit of sidewalk is being taken over b tents ⛺️ you can’t even walk down the street without being harassed. The Walmart parking lot looks like an RV park & every overpass looks like a camp site. It is so sad & very scary because unfortunately most of these people are either mentally I’ll or high as a kite 🪁 I’m so scared for my kids 🙏

The situation in our 50th state is reprehensible! What the news is not telling you: Fatalities are expected to be over 500, less than 1,000; many will be children - because school had been cancelled, parents were working and not home to rescue their children; the fire dept. left the original fire early, claiming it was contained - but it wasn't, and winds were expected to increase to 70 mph by afternoon; Lahaina will be locked down for several months, to clean up hazardous and environmental contamination. There is not enough housing for all of those displaced, and as of this morning some 1300 are unaccounted for. Not a single fire truck responded to the fire, and the emergency sirens were never activated. Here's something; the Maui police chief was also the incident commander during the Las Vegas mass shooting. (Weird, how some people seem to gravitate to these types of disasters!) It's been known that they wanted to create a 15-minute city here - but this is . . . WAS . . . historic land, the original tribal headquarters and capital before Hawaii became a state.
We put up 7600 ears of corn and 50 bushels of peas. It takes weeks of work and no time off. We do this to see what can we do in one summer. We must be ready to help our neighbors. God bless

I see collared, manicured, sweet dogs walking the streets in NW Oklahoma. One was rescued right in front of me by a kind gentle person. It made my day! I have 6 rescue kitties of my own, in 720 square feet. I'm a Cherokee cousin from Texas. Love you Sis. I listen to you daily. Thank you! I was stupid as a youth, am very well educated, and have been dumb as a post for most of my life. Otherwise I'd be living EXACTLY like you. It looks like Heaven! I am still in the game though and healthy. I'm almost 69 and an old Flower Child. I am well stocked. Next will be a side arm and a shot gun. God bless you Baby!

I'm gonna start making all of my animals food at home. My grandpa use to and I always wondered why. Now I know. He came from the times we are re entering.
My husband has said for 50 years that we should send in our tax forms and at the bottom, where it has the amount due, write, "We need it more than you do." Obviously, we've never done it because I won't. Not that I don't want to but until millions of others do it, I'm a coward. We are retired, live on a farm with it and everything we have paid for. We prep and work at keeping stocked up. Not so much for us as for our children and grandchildren.

I have a feral colony in my cul-de-sac of about 25 cats. I’ve trapped and spay/neutered them all with the help of a local TNR lady. I suggest anyone with feral cats to do the same.

I've trapped and fixed 8 cats in my neighborhood. Two of them are about 10 years old now and I trapped them as kittens. They are such a joy to care for.

Par boiling, chopping and freezing tomatoes in twenty half-gallon bags will give you a crock pot of stew,vegetable soup, chili, etc. every week all Winter & Spring. That can be nearly half of your
lunches/dinners for five months.

Thanks for the show and tell of obtaining the Cucumber seeds to be saved. I am really harvesting my cukes right now. Regarding Maui, many think the survivors are wealthy and that is not the case for most. Many were barely making their mortgage working and living in a suburban neighborhood near the main tourist businesses in the doomed Lahaina. Others doubled and tripled up to live in a home or apartment. Most lost homes, jobs, cars and for some, family and friends (most survivors also witnessed the horror of the fast fires). Do help if you can or at least pray.

No fatalities in our line, but there homes, cars and boats are gone. Other family members on neighboring island have sent a 9 boat flotilla with supplies gather from there island, its about a 90 minute trip one way. Mama taught me well having grown up in Iowa during the depression and WW2. they moved west out of the dust bowl and skilled me on all she learned may she RIP.

My 5 year old male started peeing on everything when we introduced a thrown away girl puppy. A yorkie poo sorta. We had her spayed, and she's never been in heat, but for some reason now Jack is acting up. I asked our vet about neutering him and she said it could or couldn't make a difference. So what's the point? She's fixed. I'd rather buy dog food than neuter him after all these years

Thanks Patara. Here in Central PA housing is crazy as well. People simply cannot afford a new mortgage. Between the high prices AND much higher interest rates, they simply cannot do it. As a result? Properties are NOT moving and rents are going even higher. I am hearing more and more of people moving in with family and friends. You can usually tell without being nosy by how many vehicles you see parked nearby. Multi-generational homes will be making a HUGE comeback imo. All the best to you from the mountains of Central PA.

My daughter's landlord sold the building & new owner said no pets. So she called MOM. 17yr. old cat came to live with me. I already had a cat that someone dropped off here & she adopted us. Both were fixed. As they should be. Amen.

Patera, the capital of Washington state is Olympia. I grew up there. There are homeless camps all up and down the freeway. They tear them out and haul all their belongings to the dump and they go on and rebuild somewhere else. A lot of these people have children and are not on drugs. Between taxes and house prices they cannot pay the rent. Something that sold for 60,000 3 years ago is 175,000 now. Rich and poor, nothing in the middle.

Showed someone how to seed save peppers today, they have never thought of it before . There are so many that don't think like we do.
I work at Lowe's, and all we are getting is returns. People are cleaning out their garages, or moving and are strapped for cash. Most times we can do the return. If its over 90 days, we can't. Even with a receipt Many people are getting angry at us. We cant do anything.
Store is cutting hours, cause we cant make our sales goals. The only dept that is busy, is the service desk. For returns.
On another subject. If you live on a smaller piece of Land and have a garden or animals like pigs, Goats, Sheep, Chickens do you have a back up plan to secure those animals? Can you move them out of sight? People are already getting gardens and animals stolen. Maybe move them now or have a shelter plan a back up plan. If your animals are not seen people will think you sold them off.

I have been canning almost every day except Sunday for the last month. Today I am canning chicken and tomorrow I will be starting apple butter. Then on Wednesday I will do more pasta sauce.

Our gardens were flooded out before planting. Now... They are scorched from no rain. Which is why we buy canned foods for back up🙌

We have furniture ordered. They told us about 12 weeks, which would be sept or oct. I just want it before the snow flies.

I too have seen things, I had a moment on Tuesday that I was anxious & couldn't sit still (felt like I wasn't doing enough), but at the end of the day thinking about what had been done was amazing. I get tired of the distractions & totally turn off everything & focus on stuff that needs to be done around my home & for what I need to do to prepare. God Speed to All
UGH... you said laundry! That's an expense that nobody ever talks about. I just dropped another $25 at the laundromat today.

And we resuse towels a week, only change underwear n socks daily
Laundromats are highway robbery!!
Washer died (midload, of course). New one not an option right now. Wash clothes at laundromat and bring home to dry. Early morning trip vital because when your low is 92F, clothes will "spoil" before drying. You're right about pricey, but at least they aren't raising costs on the old style washers - too hard to reconfigure the quarter slots, lol.
