My tip: test every unique and legendary item you find, because they often have unexpected features and they can be much better than they appear on the item card. Also, on the flip side, just because you found a rare piece of gear like a legendary, doesn’t automatically make it better than everything else that is less rare.
Good video. Easy tip for new players. Go to digistruct peak from claptrap's place fast travel and do the very first open door mission for a free level to give you an edge early on and help you unlock your action skill before the first major boss of the game, Capt Flynt.
The tip for trying new weapons is such a good one, I’ve used weapons this year that I have never even used before after man years of playing and it’s so fun to see what other weapons can do.
It’s wildddd mannn, I’ve always liked the block head and I’ve used it a little here and there for years but it wasn’t til last year that I tried it out on op10 on my axton and I realized just how damn strong it was
I've always said it, I've never been happier that I played this game blind for the first time. I just picked Maya because she's the prettiest and went for it. Didn't even know legendary weapons existed until I got a lyudas (my favorite weapon) around level 24. All the tips are great and players should follow all of them
@@0fficalHellfire i also didn't realize how matchmaking worked and I had someone ruin my first character. Power levelled me and there was nothing I could do. Keep up the good work bro its what players need.
Something similar happens to me with my first character in early 2014 when I was very young. Completely ruined my character cause I had all level 50 stuff and now I was 61 in UVHM fighting everything with level 50 gear and getting destroyed. But I appreciate that! Your support means more then you know :)
My first play through was with krieg hahaha, I was late for the game and came from bl3, after the krieg dlc I liked him and got bl2, picked him and just had fun smashing bandits heads in
I never really understood why people always looked past side missions lol. I do every mission because it means more borderlands 2 fun. Only time I don't is tvhm because I don't want to be overleveled lol
Tip number one do ever side quest you see except the repeatable ones your gonna be pretty weak in nvhm so if you can’t outgun you might as well outlevel or you can do the smart thing and buy the commander Lilith dlc so you can skip nvhm all together Tip 2: the better loot message is a lie. You’ll still get junk at max level on the hardest difficulty so prepare for dissapointment. Yes rare-legendary drops will increase but the increase is so small it might as well not be there at all. Unless you dedicate time into actually farming get used to seeing greens at level 80. Tip 3: don’t do op levels you get nothing from them but bragging rights and making the game harder on yourself for no apparent reason and the number of guns you’re able to use will dwindle to a handful by op ten. Plus the main reason op levels were done in the past was to get pearls but that was patched out now all you have to do is get to uvhm. But if you hate yourself and life’s not hard enough then by all means go ahead. Tip#4 take breaks. Let me tell you what you have to do to get to endgame on a single character. Beat the game, beat the game again, get to uvhm where enemies regenerate health and slag is the only way to do actual damage, get from level 50 to level 80, beat the game again. then pick another character and do it all over again. That’s the endgame take all your characters to level 80. 3 playthroughs times 6 characters means you have to do that laundry list of chores 18 times. Don’t power through it and don’t put off your real life especially not for this game. If you do power through your gonna end up like I did when I put this game down for good and went on to bigger and better things and you’re just gonna not want to do anymore.
If I think about it this game is my all time favorit of all games. For me this is THE GAME. I’m glad I played when it came out and no guides existed. I felt like a real explorer experiencing the game’s world for the first time. It was a real blast!
All great tips. Passing gear for use or to sell for cash to new plays and characters is easy and eliminates the need to refarm stuff. A new character or two can be made to just be a mule for storage. My tips: Level up to unlock action skill before attempting to leave Liar's Berg. Farm Marcu's Mercenary dlc as early as possible for great gear, eridium, and xp. Bee Shield and Magic Missiles are mandatory for Ultimate Vault Hunter. Farm The Forest for Bee Shields and Murderlin's Temple for Magic Missiles, both in the Dragon Keep dlc.
something you.dont see anymore, the magic missile. a totally op slagging grenade mod. saves a lot of crap, switching weapons to slag. get a x4 purple one and slay.
I have a tip for beginners don't use multiple types of the same weapons at once. What I mean is unless you are max level dont just use all pistols, all shotguns, etc because you will run out of ammo quickly.
I just recently started exploring the vicious and explosive world of Tediore reloads. Initially I avoided Tediore guns because I found myself twitch reloading with half a clip left and blowing off my own leg in the process, but I found that if I play focusing intentionally on the reload mechanic and treat the guns more like Fastball grenades rather than bullet hoses, they can pump out some substantial damage very quickly. It mixes up my play style just enough to add some extra spice but no so much that I get frustrated and feel like I'm trying to completely re-learn the game.
Im level 54 at the end of TVHM, I wasnt aware when I started that UVHM would screw me over with gear if I was overlevelled and didnt have on level gear. Ive got all sidequests to do, so Ill only be slightly crippled for the next playthrough, but itll be a slog until I get some decent stuff again. My personal tip, is prepare for ULTIMATE vault hunter mode EARLY, and DO NOT go beyond level 50 before you decide to start it. I will be lvl 55 in UVHM, with level 49 guns, fighting lvl 54-56 enemies. It will not be fun for the first bit.
that is a great tip as I am coming up on level 50 for the first time, and some of my gear is in the 30's, but it just works wonders man, I honestly haven't found better loot than some of that. I do have some really good properly leveled stuff though, the jacobs quad, idk how I got that, but it's just madness and kinda decent on ammo compared to some shotguns *cough* conference call, I just got one from the warrior not knowing what it was, and I thought my game was breaking
Excellent list, I'd add getting the Rubi for healing before you go to Tiny Tina's DLC for the super charged healing power of the Grog, & don't forget you keep your mission item by not turning the mission in
Completely agree, the Rubi is a great shout. You can see me using it in the footage, I was trying to talk about some of the ones you don’t see get as much attention these days
The Grog is the biggest crutch in the game. The weapon should never have been made, or at least never been allowed to leave the quest zone. Btw - it isn't the healing that makes it truly broken: it's the type B crit bonus (so only Sal can truly take advantage of it).
Another good tip for just starting out: Don't follow build guides. For playthrough 1 and 2, you can just screw around with builds. UVHM only really allows for certain meta builds, but first 2 playthroughs are really good. So sure, you COULD use a Salvador with the cookie cutter build everyone does, OR you could be original, run... idk.... A Maya based on sheer elemental damage. Or run an Axton based on keeping your health full and mags mags fuller.
@@baplotnik Axton WOULD be cool in my opinion, IF he didn't call off so bad on later difficulties. I mean I only really like playthrough 1 and 2, because requiring Slag to get anywhere is not really my style. But Axton falls off even on TVHM.
@@waltlock8805 Well yeah, and the Maya build I threw together proves it, as I didn't go off of some premade build or anything. But UVHM just wasn't fun to me. Making me use a gear slot for an element that I don't like isn't fun, making enemies stupidly powerful and regen health isn't fun, and overall, playing the same story as the same charatcer a third time wasn't fun.
I've never done a full playthrough as Zer0 but I love the different things they say when using deception my favorite is your eyes deceive you an illusion fools you all I move for the kill

And if you want to find a weapon to get attached to that will carry you 10+ levels, play Borderlands 1! Items scale differently and they stay useful for far longer.
...All true and i say #2 is the most important. Try everything and i mean not simply shoot a gun once, but use it in multiple fights to get some feel of it. One super common mistake new players do is to only look at the damage of weapon or capacity of a shield and decide which one is better. Especially important for unique items that come with a red text
my method for that is speed, for looting. I can size up a gun in less than one magazine, and judge a book by it's cover. all i'm saying, it's a skill you or anyone can develop if ya want but don't let me stop ya. think in lines of judging a book by skimming through a few pages instead of getting through half the book and then being like, nah I don't like it. you already read half the book! ahhh idk I find that humorous, much like your tmnt pic, it funny
I started to play this game pretty recently with no prior experience to the series in any way. So predictably I just tried to get through the main story missions without actually trying to look for any new weapons or upgrades in the side missions. I remember dying so many times thanks to this and not understanding what I was doing wrong here and thought that the game was just unfair. Thanks for the tip, I’ll try to keep that in mind
Thank you so much for these tips! I've never really gotten into borderlands yet, so I just decided to start digging into this one since I got it on epic games for free. I love how you included tips to avoid burnout, that's something I always seem to end up with pretty quickly so that should definitely help :)
Your saving DLC for UVHM bonus tip is excellent! Do you have any other UVHM tips? I'm on my third character and my last two I power leveled to 80 doing bosses and avoided most of the side quests and DLCs because I wanted to limit my Campaign Resets. The only quests I did were ones where the rewards are meh or where they unlock a farmable mini boss. I heard your tip on taking my own time and avoiding power leveling, but I'm not really sure what to do. I don't want to do something too early that'll require an extra Campaign Reset later, I don't want to complete a quest that I should have Dashboard or Read-Only farmed the reward. And while I could, I'd like to avoid playing with the Wiki opened 95% of the time.
My fourth tip is experiment with different weapon builds and have fun. For example go for a shotgun only build with zero, go for a jakobs only run with sal, etc. The point of the game is to have fun and see what works for you. Just don't be basic and just run a unkempt Harold the whole way through.
Best tip I can give as someone who's playing the game again for the first time in 9 year's: 1. Experiment with different guns. 2. Find what gun's work for you, what you have the most fun with. 3. Check through each skill tree of your vault hunter and experiment with it, find your favorite play style. Most importantly, just have fun, I'm playing it solo to explore, try different weapons, doing side missions, I'm having a blast, take it slow, I promise you'll enjoy it more. 💯😃

"Cheat": want better grenades? Try save game and come right back! Best if you're by a vending machine Ammo/Health. This way you can farm better shields and grenades. Like after killing Knucledragger get the shot gun go to the next portal. Come out the other side and claptrap will be there. Now save you`re came, then hit the Continue, go right back through and Knucklehead should re-spawn... kill him and do this to FARM a nice corrosion hand gun. There are like 3 different types. It may take 5-15 times, but yah get XP points while farming.
Level 3 - Digi Peak free money to start, save the eridium, farm a hornet easy boss easy drop lasts all the way up to the past the fridge loaders can easily clear all of overlook with a level 0 pistol up against level 20+ loaders and constructers. Grab the sniper from hammerlock or the torgue shotgun from claptrap upon completion of the side mission in the first area by giving them the bullymong hair. Really good green snioer or shotty early on. Farm BoomBewm to level 8. Ez clap Flynt farm a Harold and you’re set for the first 20 hours of gameplay.
For my first play through I picked zero and got him to tvhm but then regretted it because I lacked the damage and healing so I pick Salvador and started a play through a few days ago and am already on the warrior close to tvhm
Whats the best advice for someone that just beat the main story in normal Mode, i just being farming the destroyer for sdu upgrades and started the purates booty dlc but everything is underlevel
hey Hellfire I'm the beginner ;)))) I'm struggling with my Axton in Sawtooth Cauldron level 48 TVHM I feel kinda... weak and kinda... some problems with survivability... I tried different builds Legendary Soldier based and Assault Rifleman based (my primary)... Yeah I got bad gear green blue and some outleveled legendary level 40 or something... I think If I go torgue DLC to farm gas station chest.... I need to finish some quests to have Beatdown open to save there near gas station??? Or no?? Or maybe better another place to farm gear?.. I need some good guns some Assault rifles and DON'T WANT TO LEVEL UP MUCH not to be overleveled in UVHM.... If I was level 45 or so I just go to Snowman but not level 49.... What can you tell me to do better?

On console, the grog can crash your game at least on Playstation. The Ruby is a bargain grog from the alcoholic side mission
dude your content is so good, you earned yourself a sub.
I appreciate that deadmatt :)
Best tip for a new borderlands player is to forget about any game after TPS
Can’t deny that 😅
Here’s a teddy bear please tell me where bl3 touched you since you wanna be dramatic
Except the first tales
@@mrman4516 haven't played it yet I kinda forgot it exists
The first one is actually pretty good 👍
I picked this game up in January for the first time (Maya). I'm currently level 75 and loving it for the most part, and even then I didn't know some of these tips! (No Moxxi weapons, didn't know about the Secret Stash) Thank you!
P.S. *Second character Recommendations are welcome! 😅*
I’d definitely give Zer0 or Salvador a try next :) glad you’ve been enjoying the game! Happy to help
So satisfying people are picking this game up in 2024
Try Krieg if you have it and go rampage everything with unending melee rage or throw a grenade and watch all enemies die in front of you.
I love Gaige and my anarchy stacks
"Cheat": want better grenades? Try save game and come right back! Best if you're by a vending machine Ammo/Health.
This way you can farm better shields and grenades. Like after killing Knucledragger get the shot gun go to the next portal.
Come out the other side and claptrap will be there. Now save you`re came, then hit the Continue, go right back through and
Knucklehead should re-spawn... kill him and do this to FARM a nice corrosion hand gun.
Heartbreaker is overlooked? lol, I get that weapon EVERY run. I never knew that
For my first play through I picked zero and got him to tvhm but then regretted it because I lacked the damage and healing so I pick Salvador and started a play through a few days ago and am already on the warrior close to tvhm
Nice :)
bro talking about 3rd vault hunter mode for Beginner tips
Whats the best advice for someone that just beat the main story in normal
Mode, i just being farming the destroyer for sdu upgrades and started the purates booty dlc but everything is underlevel
Love your content broski
Ayeeee, much love my guy
good tips
only one I would add is use slag in UVHM
hey Hellfire I'm the beginner ;))))
I'm struggling with my Axton in Sawtooth Cauldron level 48 TVHM
I feel kinda... weak and kinda... some problems with survivability...
Don't over level too. Being level 57, going into uvhm with level 50 gear made me quit for 2 years.
Spend those golden keys.
healing? slag rubi + grenade
Randos in matchmaking tip is right it was dodgy when I did it also and the people there are creepy pasta
is everyone looking forward to Moxxi being played by a woman in her sixties?
💀
Yeah
What was that image when he said safe and sound
You forgot about ruby very good pistol for healing from rakkaholics anonymous turn it in to moxxi
I’m using it in the footage
@@0fficalHellfire but i didnt hear u mention it u might have though n i just missed it
@@derekwilhelm1555 na I didn’t mention it haha, I was just trying to talk more about the moxxi weapons you don’t see used as often
@@0fficalHellfire yea good point

For healing, I think you missed the Rubi sir.
I was using it in the footage 😂
@@0fficalHellfire oops i don't remember you mentioning it maybe i missed it my bad
@@dasamman71 I may not have by name but during that section you can see me using it. No worried at all 🤘
@@0fficalHellfire thank you for your rapid replies. I myself am thinking about making my own videos where I take on (and hopefully defeat) a BL2 boss of any kind, called "Boss Bashing" and am looking at free video editing software because I can't afford to buy software.
There is no servers in Borderlands games. It's P2P. It works fine if the host has good internet
Yes this is true but the player to player servers are awful. I’ve had friends in the same room on the same internet and it still rubber bands and lags
@@0fficalHellfire Interesting. I've had no issues playing with people on my friends list
God I hate that T-Rex so much
Another "Pro Borderlands Gamer Tip". Kill Enemies before they kill you.
1:02 "!=" means not
In 2024😭
I've been playing sense I was 5 but still don't know anything besides getting the Harold
What's your discord? Trying to find people to play with, help op etc. I have everything lol
Axton build here
I don’t have one
@0fficalHellfire damn man you should or a communitt of your fans who wanna play together.
