- After a friend sent me a link to this vehicle on Facebook marketplace, I had to at least see it for myself. Sure enough, it was a legit tandem axle F-150. But why? Well, because they could I guess!
I dont undertand how they blended the fenders so seamlessly. That was an artist
Not hard actually for a good body man, and by the looks of it it needs another body job, a lot of bubbles lol

This is one of the most ridiculous trucks I’ve ever seen and I love it lol

This truck is originally from Carterville illinois where I'm from I used to see it driving around everyday.
I saw the thumbnail and knew exactly what this was. Sat on a local dealer lot for quite a while!
Hilarious... I knew I'd seen one sitting in Carbondale across from Bandana's BBQ last year, for a few weeks. Didn't think it would be the exact one, even with it being custom.

She’s definitely a head turner. The only thing that would make the deal even sweeter is if she was a super crew style cab. Otherwise cool truck.
Yeah a four door would have also made it easier to build because making the cab longer would be easier than making the bed longer.

this was in Southern Illinois for the longest time. I've seen it a whole lot of times at car shows and it was on marketplace for a while. I was surprised when I saw it on UA-cam

That whole tailgate looks tacky; definitely needs to be replaced. Otherwise, Send-It-Steve is now green with envy I'm sure.
I was SOOOO disappointed that tandem axle F-450 was never finished. That would have been a really cool truck.

In my home state of California.
If a vehicle weighs 6,000 lb or less unleaded, It does not require a CDL for a three axle vehicle.
But it would limit you to only being gas powered.
Not necessarily. What requires a cdl is how you register it and total weight.
I driven 3 axel commerical grade flatbeds that's registered for Class C that could be registered for Class B.
His tow truck don't even need a cdl
I think it really depends on the state
In general I think without a cdl you can drive anything non-commercially up to a certain weight/passenger count

The one CDL law that I know of that's different in one state is the double/triples endorsement. In California you can only do doubles anything more is illegal.
This looks like a prime example of talent without direction. Definitely took talent and ability to create but the why factor has me stumped.

Looks like you need to have the axle reworked for a driveline going to the back one. They do make a kit for it especially for the ford axles.

What the heck LOL. All that work in the tandem axle conversion and they just screwed in crappy reflectors with wood screws into the tailgate.
Agreed. I love everything about this truck except the tailgate. I love how stock it looks right down to the OEM wheels. The only other minor, minor, change I would do is I would plastic weld those two bedrail caps together and finish them out with bodywork so it is completely seamless. That would complete the OEM look of this beast.

A lot 😂 it was hilarious, you’d see vehicles approaching quickly in the left lane, then suddenly slow down when they were alongside the truck 🤣 several seconds later they would accelerate and pass lol
I honestly though when I saw this video on my suggested page, I thought it was photoshopped and the video was totally clickbait, but it was not and I definitely am not disappointed! Very cool and unusual truck! Would be really cool if u made it a true 6x6!

I seen this one on marketplace atleast a year ago now. Was around me ( hour or so away). Dude was selling as one of a kind truck an wanted like 4,600- or so for it if I remember
I never knew such a truck existed and now I have this strange feeling that I must have one.

We did this to mini trucks and vans all the way back in the 70s but at least they had killer paint jobs. And we had an excuse, LSD, I have no idea what the excuse is for this rolling turd.

The Lincoln Mark LT was the rebadged F-150 you were thinking of.

More accurately, it was the flopped Lincoln Blackwood that this truck resembled. They changed the name to Mark LT when they made the Lincoln version of the 11th gen f150
@@Samuel-zl7yw - The Blackwood was what came to my mind initially, but the Mark LT was more of a direct and blatant copy of the F-150 than the Blackwood was, which looked more like a Navigator rather than the 10th gen F-150.
@@Samuel-zl7yw The Blackwood looked like a lopped off Navigator with a casket attached to the back. There's one for sale near me in pretty good shape for $9,000, has about 100k on it. Been for sale over 3 months.
That truck was for sale at a dealership down the road from my house. I use to pass it everyday, stopped and looked at it once. Whoever did the work did a good job.

Now you need either some kind of insane camper or sleeper cab. It kind of reminds me of a Ford centurion
1. NEVER UNCHAIN THE TRUCK FROM THE FLAT BED FIRST. Even though the truck ran, that’s how you lose your load and send a car back to potentially kill someone. Keep it chained while you’re moving the bed.
2. Never shift your transfer case with the truck in park. Especially when you have all that weight on the parking pin with the truck tilted and you have it unchained.
3. That’s an awesome truck!

I love the 10th gen, my 98 is a nice piece, sadly I'm in the middle of putting its second engine as it was neglected by the previous owner. Typical from what I have seen.

Holy cow! I grew up seeing this truck around Chester and Sparta IL. Half an hour from my home town. Saw the video pop up on my feed and didn’t believe it was the same truck. Until I saw the Ford logo on the back. One of a kind. Crazy to see a local vehicle make it to fame!

SWEET, I just saw this the other week on FB Marketplace. The ad said it was custom built to haul a horse trailer. I think it was like $2,500 in Godfrey Illinois near STL.
Interesting truck! Might want to check for tail lamps, I do believe they are usually on the same circuit as the dash lights.
This guy you bought it from lives in Rockwood Illinois, outside of Chester, because I buy all of my farm fresh eggs from him. He's a really nice guy! The driveway is really hard to navigate because he lives on a giant hill, but yeah, I saw this truck in person many times!

That's what I was thinking. Does it give better grip around turns in the snow? Is the load in the bed distributed more even? Maybe that let's you load more into the bed of it without it killing your springs or tires?
@@ThePwak007 two axles spreads the weight out so the truck can potentially haul more weight.
If both axles had power to them instead of just the fron it could potentially give more traction in the snow.
It also will make the truck take a wider turn depending on what rear axle has more pressure on the ground. The other axle wil slide sideways a bit. Its called scrubbing it wears the tires out faster. On semi trucks usually the rear drive tires wear faster than the front

I live in the area and have seen this truck for sale I’d say 10 times in the last several years. First saw it outside of a repair shop in Carbondale Illinois and have watched it change hands on marketplace frequently since. It will be nice to see it get some justice.

I've never seen a 6 wheel F-150 before. I thought to myself "who makes a power divider differential for an F-150?" so that both rear axles can get power. Then you show only the front rear is driven and the rear-rear is just a coaster.
Yup, that's the only thing that was a little bit of a let down on this truck when I went to look at it. 2 valve 5.4? Check. Factory four wheel drive? Check. Extended cab? Check. Starts, runs and drives? Check. Actual true 6X6? Ohhhhhhhh..... :(

very interesting. i owned a 01 extended cab f150 long bed 2wd way back when it was brand new and had a lot of fun with it. i would never have thought of putting a second rear axle in. bubba mods sometimes are cool.

Wowwwww. My old 03 looked just like that. Minus the tandem axle. But I had the same rims color and even tires haha. I rebuilt the squeaky front end and i loved that truck. It just started blowing out the coils and would develop a bad tick.

If you don’t want the tires to get ate up go under the truck and turn the torsion keys down, it’s just a bolt that you turn. It’s basically a cheap lift but makes the front tires bow out a little and front end drives real still

Sweet truck. There is plenty of kits to convert it 6x6 for pretty cheap. Or have the rear axle be allowed to turn to ease on the wear.
The last axle not being functional ruined it for me

The tag axle still helps distribute the weight of whatever’s in the bed.
