    My timelapse formula: shoot 1 still frame every 5 seconds and stitch them together in the edit. Your body will be a blur, but the car should gracefully come apart in less than a minute on playback. Extra points for keeping big analog clocks in frame.

    My brothers and I owned a salvage yard. On our first loader, A JD444, it had forks similar to your forktruck. To lengthen them we used 3 by 6 box steel and slid it over our existing forks. The gave us a much longer reach. This would help you when lifting up your residual metal. It was well worth the time.

    Had to come back. These are really easy and fun to watch videos. (On a different note. 1981 Toyota 4wd, frame rusted just past the cab. Would you 1) look for a newer Toyota frame 1990s, 2) Weld onto the original 1981 frame 3) Fabricate a frame from something else. I ask because what looks super hard to most people seems to come easy to you. )

    • @AustinCoulson
      @AustinCoulson  5 років тому +1

      Welding frames seems to create a lot of controversy out there, which seems crazy to me because the frames are welded at the factory all day, every day with no one complaining. My daily driver is the silver F150 you can see in the videos and I bought it from copart salvaged with front end damage that bent the front of the frame. I bought the front third of a frame from Ford and followed their service manual to cut the old frame off and weld the new one and got it within 1/32 of an inch at all 16 measurements. The point is, if done correctly, welding on a frame is a safe repair, but it should not be taken lightly. If you are at all unsure about doing the repair, then a complete replacement frame is a great solution. The good thing about that, is you can paint or powdercoat the frame and take your time moving over the parts and do it the right way from the get go, so you end up with a better finished product. Good luck with whatever direction you go, and reach back out if you run into trouble. I love those older Yota's

    First time I"ve seen your channel. Found it as a suggestion from Cars and Cameras video. Not bad man, subbed. Not sure how I feel about the whole music thing. It's fine if the original audio is included. I'm not too hot on the music choices other channels make either. It's usually the same lame chill groove that's copyright free on UA-cam. As such, it's a little lackluster usually. I can appreciate that you did it without. That said I think you could get away with some low level background music. Quiet enough that we can still hear the other sounds in the room, sped up or not but enough that it distracts us from the passing of time. Too many people don't know what it means to keep it tasteful. I appreciate you man.

    How much fun, you get to tear apart a car and build something no one else would even think to build

    You should do a full video on the wiring. A buddy and myself have been thinking about this swap for a while but neither of us are any good with wiring etc.

      I started to do a video that was showing how to clean up a crown vic harness for a swap into another car, but it was taking forever. I didn't think anyone would want to see it, but I've got another CV I am pulling for something else so that might be the time to do it. It's very straight forward, but can be intimidating the first time.

      I mean it would definitely help me lol. This is becoming a popular swap that I believe will be even bigger soom. They are just so cheap and have a really good platform to begin with imo. I had a p71 that I Drifted for two years and everyone I let drive it couldn't believe how well it did totally stock. Basically just a e-brake.

    The clatter at startup is the damn cam timing chains and their hydraulic chain tensioners. Make sure you run the right oil and filter or you’ll soon be pulling the front of the engine apart.

    • @AustinCoulson
      @AustinCoulson  4 роки тому

      Correct. I use Mobil 1 and Wix and send in every oil change sample to Blackstone for analysis to determine when the chain guides are worn enough for replacing

    Looking at the frame rails it looks like you could do an awesome solid axle swap have 4wd possibly

    • @AustinCoulson
      @AustinCoulson  4 роки тому

      Didn't think of that, but you totally could. That would be ridiculous on a stock bodied Crown Vic

    Subbed because I’m thinking of something similar. T-100 with CV front suspension and rear axle. Street beater with a little off road capability. Complete new frame from 2x4 120 wall.

      That was the only car that's ever really scared me when I punched it. It had mid 550 hp on pump gas and 735 on e85, and a custom tube frame. I didn't build it, I just finished it.

      This is the 5th request on doing a complete how-to on Crown Vic wiring and I will be doing that within the next few months. I'll bypass the lighting control module, the steering control module, airbag module, etc. These old Crown Vics deserve to live on in other projects!
