Yeah for me too, one of my favorite games he played, and they're fantastic games to play for streaming, easy to have regular pauses at the "hub" / "base" keep up with chat, go back for a hunt, come back, talk a bit, etc. The same goes with his playthroughs of souls-like games (Bloodborne and such). For me it's: 1- Souls-like games plays 2- MH World plays 3- Resident Evil plays

I also agree with you about Bethesda titles but I can't deny that I went through a Skyrim phase for a while.
People have mentioned this in chat, but Max’s Top 4 just encapsulates who he is really; because the 4th one was probably unexpected by a lot of people unless you’re a fan of him for a while where he occasionally talks about this game 🤣 All in all, I really like his list, some expected and unexpected ones in them
Playing Nights for the first time back when it released was such an awe-inspiring, magical experience. Not even that properly describes the feeling and sense of.. I dunno. Magic and wonder. I've rarely ever gotten the same feeling since when playing games. In fact, most of times I actually felt that way were from Saturn games.
For me personally my most played games ever aswell as games i have the most fond memories of are Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (as a kid on the ps2 i only played this game for a few years) then it would be 09 MW2, original Halo Trilogy and original Gears of War triology. Then Monster Hunter World/Iceborne with MH 3 Ultimate being close behind. Going further back as a kid though it was Pokemon Emerald alongside Dragonball Z Legacy of Goku 1 and 2 aswell as Dragonball Z Buus Fury on the GBA and Sonic Heroes on the ps2.
The Halo games for me. Halo 1 is what got me into FPS games when before I played a few SNES and N64 games like Kirby Superstar (awesome Kirby game btw), F-Zero (Nintendo, give the fans what they want), og Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong, Star Fox 64, and Star Wars Squadron and Shadows Of The Empire. Some others but as of right now, Lies Of P. Became my favorite game as I played through it and it being a souls game that I got through from start to finish. Is also game of the year for me. It would've been Dead Space remake but Lies Of P was something very special for me.
There are some games on here on the list that I really love and amount that are on my personal “greatest games of all time/top favourites” for me like super smash bros ultimate. A big TY to max for getting me into series’s like FF and RE. FF7remake and resident evil 4 remake are two games that are on my personal best/top games of all time. Unforgettable experiences. ❤
Max and I share more in common with our lists than I expected. Bloodborne, Mario 64, RE4, Smash Ultimate, UMvC3, Revengeance, DMC5, PSO, and NiGHTS. :)
It's so interesting seeing the favs of a Sega kid! I was a nintendo kid growing up so my favs are plainly obvious. Your Mega Man X's and Mega Man 3, Super Metroid, Mario 3, Earthbound. Obvious. But man. Perfect Dark. That game revolutionized console FPS.
Beyond this whole video I am SUPER happy that the music in the first few seconds is from VA-11 Hall-A one of my favourite soundtracks and games of all time.
Loved the mega man 2 pull. Played that game nonstop for months and still pick it up here and there. Was surprised there wasn’t a Zelda that made the list.
Max mentioned Split/Second, and it tooks literally a split second to remember how fire this game is! It's still a mystery for me how this game didn't became a success by all the meanings.
It sold decently despite coming out the same day as Blur (those 2 should've got out of each other's way). But it wasn't good enough for Disney, and I feel like they were trying to get out of games publishing at that time. Unless it was a runaway success, they weren't gonna publish a sequel :(
Virtual On and laterthe Gundam Vs series is low key one of the most unique style of 3D arena fighters I’ve ever played, the only game that I can think of that had a similar feel was the DBZ Budokai games
So Gundam Vs had a similar feel to Virtual On? I was considering that game but I didn't know if I wanted to play it. I have to try it now. I need my fix for fast pace mech action.
I’ve never played the original game, but Final Fantasy VII Remake snuck its way to become my favorite game of all time. I can’t wait for Rebirth because I already know this will easily become my favorite game of all time!
You should play the original game. Some people say its flawed cuz it ¨didn't age well¨ but that's a load of horseshit. Those people don't have their perspectives straight. The amount of things the game does GREAT so far outshadows any of that shit it's insane.

Almost a quarter of games he has as his all time favorite, are some of my favorites. 🤔.. Why, Max! I'm surprised you didn't mention Def Jam: Fight for NY as a all time favorite 😅
I'm super surprised God of War 2018 and Spooderman didn"t make it into this list. They seemed like games that really clicked with Max. They can go in mine for sure.
I didn't know that Max was a Sega Saturn guy! I was only kid in middle school that had one 😂. I actually STILL have it and boot up some games every now and then.
I wish I had been able to spend more time in arcades as a kid in the late 90s/early 2000s. Obviously my own personal best games list is completely different, but I can't help wonder since we've seen a lot of yovg streams where Max and the doods enjoy revisiting a bunch of arcade classics.
It's funny to hear him talk about Elden Ring after not being so far removed from making a video about it being one of the greatest games ever made. Yes, it's on his list but down towards the bottom with some highly questionables.
It's interesting to see someone else's greatest games list because there's obviously going to be so many things we agree on as well as disagree... Not to mention there's stuff you mentioned here that I am not familiar with at all like Gunblade NY which was the most Sega looking 90's arcade thing lol. Reminded me a lot of Sega's Virtua Cop and Die Hard Arcade from that era.

That said, I would put some PC games up there like OG Doom, Duke Nukem, Unreal Tournament, System Shock, Bioshock, Command and Conquer, King's Quest, Jack Rabbit, Half Life, WoW, EverQuest, Guild Wars, Max Payne, Counter Strike, Soldier of Fortune, Sim City, Age of Empires, The Sims.
The Bethesda games don't make my top of all time unfortunately. Never been super into them personally.
@@didibus yeah I agree with most of those picks. They would be in my top 50 alongside the likes of Left 4 Dead, Portal, Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo, Dragon Age, Star Wars KOTOR, Quake, Witcher, Deus Ex, Civilization, GTA, Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines.
I also agree with you about Bethesda titles but I can't deny that I went through a Skyrim phase for a while.
@@radicalcentrist4990 Some good ones I forgot about in there!
Though for me some of those I experienced on console, like Kotor and Dragon Age.
People have mentioned this in chat, but Max’s Top 4 just encapsulates who he is really; because the 4th one was probably unexpected by a lot of people unless you’re a fan of him for a while where he occasionally talks about this game 🤣
All in all, I really like his list, some expected and unexpected ones in them
Watching Max playing Split/Second for 4/5 hours made me wanna fix up my Xbox just to play it again
you putting NiGHTS on there is so meaningful to me, thank you so much for remembering and loving that game, reminds me of my grandma
Man, when Max brought up arcade games, Time Crisis 2 pops in my mind.
Aww Dude. I use to have a guncon and pedal. We had a set up for time crisis at the house, but sadly it only works on old tv's.😢
I loved house of the dead but I could run through time crisis by myself! The cover mechanic was just so good
For me personally my most played games ever aswell as games i have the most fond memories of are Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (as a kid on the ps2 i only played this game for a few years) then it would be 09 MW2, original Halo Trilogy and original Gears of War triology.
Sneaky Crazy Taxi reference with that Offspring Intro
FINALLY someone showing respect to FFXI! It feels like everyone just forgot about that game.
None of the GTAs even being mentioned is crazy imo
There are some games on here on the list that I really love and amount that are on my personal “greatest games of all time/top favourites” for me like super smash bros ultimate. A big TY to max for getting me into series’s like FF and RE. FF7remake and resident evil 4 remake are two games that are on my personal best/top games of all time. Unforgettable experiences. ❤
Max and I share more in common with our lists than I expected. Bloodborne, Mario 64, RE4, Smash Ultimate, UMvC3, Revengeance, DMC5, PSO, and NiGHTS. :)
asuras wrath is one my greatest games, just the pure power fantasy if it scratchs that itch
Damn was hoping to see Asura's Wrath
Am I blind? Did Max not put Def Jam: Battle For New York on there? I thought he quite loved that. Couldn't stop talking about it for a while.
Whoever stuck Va11-Hall-A Music on this, good on you
Love to see returnal on the list. Shame they're not making a sequel.
Was it confirmed? I want to try the game.
How hard is it compared to souls games
fantastic game- tough, but i'm 40 & i beat it! such buttery controls. (once i swapped a button or two...)
@@gleam6370 don't think they're comparable really
@@gleam6370its ez
The part where you put FF7R in the list right after proclaiming that Castlevania SOTN isn't one of the all time greats was hysterical.
This will be an awesome list
Beyond this whole video I am SUPER happy that the music in the first few seconds is from VA-11 Hall-A one of my favourite soundtracks and games of all time.
Loved the mega man 2 pull. Played that game nonstop for months and still pick it up here and there. Was surprised there wasn’t a Zelda that made the list.
Unrelated to the main topic of the video but i just played Va-11 Hall-A and hearing the soundtrack on the background felt really good
Max mentioned Split/Second, and it tooks literally a split second to remember how fire this game is! It's still a mystery for me how this game didn't became a success by all the meanings.
It sold decently despite coming out the same day as Blur (those 2 should've got out of each other's way). But it wasn't good enough for Disney, and I feel like they were trying to get out of games publishing at that time. Unless it was a runaway success, they weren't gonna publish a sequel :(
No CVS2? I’m shocked Max.
Damn Asuras Wrath got no love.....that game still gets talked about and memed to this day
i was NOT expecting split second fuck yeah
Virtual On and laterthe Gundam Vs series is low key one of the most unique style of 3D arena fighters I’ve ever played, the only game that I can think of that had a similar feel was the DBZ Budokai games
So Gundam Vs had a similar feel to Virtual On? I was considering that game but I didn't know if I wanted to play it. I have to try it now. I need my fix for fast pace mech action.
@@patrickcalip948 yeah it’s sorta like a more faster paced more brawler like take on virtual on
I can't believe he didn't add Def Jam: Fight for NY he is over the moon with that
I’m so happy Lies Of P made it into this list. Phenomenal game.
This game is so underrated😢 it deserves to be on anyone's cherished 😅list
Recency biased as hell
Thumbs up to the list Max. Would of loved to see Def Jam: FFNY, Urban Reign and NFS:Underground or Most Wanted make the list.
@@IdkAkaIdk Oh I definitely want to play the original, but I want to wait until at least Rebirth!
I still haven’t been spoiled on a bunch of stuff that I’d like to be a surprise when I play Rebirth.
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411good idea with Rebirth being so close. You will have an OG experience if you play Rebirth without playing the original. But the third game won’t come out for awhile.
You HAVE to include Guitar Hero on the list of GOATs. The cultural impact it had is almost incalculable.
After a long Hiatus of me gaming, I am super happy that I´ve played most of those games and I agree with some of them.
5:55 i see what you did there
7 remake was the best game I’ve ever played and I can’t find anything that comes close despite trying. My only hope is rebirth at this point.
Naww good but not best
FF7 Remake isn't even complete, how is it the best at anything? 🤣🤣🤣
@@luizkorynga That’s incredibly stupid. 7 remake is a complete game in the same way that fellowship of the ring is complete movie.
@@sarriominski3756 As I said, I’ve found nothing even close to it despite trying, but I’m open to more suggestions. For now it’s the absolute best as far as I’m concerned.
Elden Ring@@cynicalidealist11
Damn the 16-bit JRPG disrespect is real. He put up 3 different Final Fantasy games but not the BEST one in FF6? And no Chrono Trigger? Secret of Mana? NONE of the Phantasy Star games? Ys? Shining Force? Ogre Battle? Terranigma? Earthbound?
No DMC3!? That game is legendary especially for the combat mechanics 😭
3rd Strike and FFVII will always be Max's Games of All Time
Chun v Chun 4life
Hell yeah split second is one of the most underrated racing games ever. It’s sooo good and different from any other racer. Hopefully a spiritual sequel will be made
Almost a quarter of games he has
as his all time favorite, are some of my favorites. 🤔.. Why, Max! I'm surprised you didn't mention Def Jam: Fight for NY as a all time favorite 😅
'virtual on' in the arcade was my childhood
Sitting in a mech cockpit and playing Virtual On was magical. 😆
3rd Strike is such a Classic🔥 Although besides Ken I wonder who’s Max’s Main in the game?
Just Ken. There was a point in time where he used Q and fought PikachuAkuma. But that was a one off thing.
He's used Dudley a fair bit. But Ken is defo his main.
5:52 That moment there was genius. It's like Max started that whole bit just to get to Crazy Taxi.
I'm super surprised God of War 2018 and Spooderman didn"t make it into this list. They seemed like games that really clicked with Max. They can go in mine for sure.
Dead or Alive 2 on dreamcast and the 3ds doa dimensions literally blew me away
Just bought them all yesterday. Grew up playing DOA.
FFVII is always no1 for me.
@burstyourbubble3500 OG :)
Respect the list. Something that jumped to my head when he mentioned SNES was Chrono Trigger. Easily in my top 10.
Beat it recently & it's now my nr1
I didn't know that Max was a Sega Saturn guy! I was only kid in middle school that had one 😂. I actually STILL have it and boot up some games every now and then.
I miss mine. I use to boot it up for Panzer Dragon and Last Bronx.
Me getting hit by fucking VA-11 HALL-A 's soundtrack as soon as the video started
Whoever edited this i love you
I wish I had been able to spend more time in arcades as a kid in the late 90s/early 2000s. Obviously my own personal best games list is completely different, but I can't help wonder since we've seen a lot of yovg streams where Max and the doods enjoy revisiting a bunch of arcade classics.
My favorite era of gaming were the FPS of the late 2000s
@@jasonsmith530yea some of mine were from 2000s era
Garoad- Hopes and Dreams. Your videos always have great bgm.
Nice selection of games!!!
Sonic Adventure 2 and Megaman 5 on the Gameboy were my childhood
Been watching Max for a while and liked his stuff. But he got me here at DDR. He’s a real one.
The Va11 hall-a ost goes crazy
Real big fan of the Valhalla music in this video
The lack of Mario Party 3 is incredible, but understandable at the same time...
I see DMC5.
Everything is lovely once again
I did _not_ expect to see Split/Second on anyone's GOAT list except for mine. What a phenomenal surprise.
*Cries in castlevania* 😢
It's funny to hear him talk about Elden Ring after not being so far removed from making a video about it being one of the greatest games ever made. Yes, it's on his list but down towards the bottom with some highly questionables.
Bro I was just listening to VA-11 HALL A OST this morning
It's interesting to see someone else's greatest games list because there's obviously going to be so many things we agree on as well as disagree... Not to mention there's stuff you mentioned here that I am not familiar with at all like Gunblade NY which was the most Sega looking 90's arcade thing lol. Reminded me a lot of Sega's Virtua Cop and Die Hard Arcade from that era.
