- We took our custom TRX8 out to the trails for some fun. For those wanting to build their own stick around to the end of the video where we do a brief overview. If you'd like to see a more in depth how-to please let me know in the comments below!
More compliant suspension with say a lay down cantilevered setup in that back would make this unstoppable.❤
Dude, that thing is sweet. I am a 60 year-old kid. That just loves fabricating reimagining. You did a good job on yours. I hope someday to build something similar from my hauler.
Thanks man. It was a fun project. I still take it out sometimes. Good luck with yours. The only way to get it done is to start…
Great build!!! Thank your for answering my questions when I took this same project on early last year.
My pleasure man! It’s not a hard project, but it’s not easy either…
That’s a military PLS!! So dope
Bought a TRX-4 3 years ago and upgraded a lot of its stock parts with metal after market parts. Had many original parts as leftover so I decided to build a TRX-6. The chassis hadn't been fully assembled when a came across the idea of making it a TRX-8. I therefore found your 2 videos here on UA-cam and I am highly interested in more detail shots or a making of of your chassis and the front axle which is the most difficult part of a DIY TRX-8. Nice work! Please show more of this 8-wheeler!
Will do!
Nice build, turned out great.
Thank you. I've had some idea for a refresh later this year...
You have some Sweet rigs!
I’m considering getting a work bed for the cen.
@@ethanfontenot7132 thanks. It’s one of my favorite designs from this year. Thanks for watching the video! Use code FRIENDSNFAMILY for a discount on the work bed 🤛🏼
This is awesome. Thank you for giving us a breakdown of the build. I had a question if you didn’t mind. You mentioned axle 2 is a standard front trx4 steering axle. But in the video axle 2 shows pass through style. Did I miss something? Thank you again.
Yes you are correct. #2 axle is a regular steering axle with the pass through cover added to the front. No change to that axle besides that diff cover.
@@crawlersncustoms Thank you so much for clarifying. You're the man. Subscribed, hyped to have found this channel.
Cool build & thanks for the information at the end. I’m leaning toward a BC-8 since it’ll be a working brush fire truck build with a little bit of weight.
I’ve always wanted one of those but wanted something that was more capable at the same time. For a scale military style build the BC8 is probably the better way to go.
@@crawlersncustoms I like my TRX6 and may still make a TRX8 but the time I spent on the front of a MA Deuce in the ‘98 fires makes me lean toward the military styled vehicles. Once I load it with a gallon+ of water it’ll ruin any crawling capability. 😆 🔥 👨🏻🚒
looks great and cool idea, any plans to make some kind of flex in the middle?
No there’s a large motor and transmission in there. An articulating 8x8 would need a totally different design.
Awesome truck and excellent video!! So the front axle is actually a rear axle, Does it use four link or three link and a panhard bar? Also is the servo mounted on the frame? Got me curious lol
Thanks man! Both steering axles are 3 link (like stock) and both steering servos mounted to the frame like stock.
Hey James, what an amazing build 😮 TRAXXAS should learn a thing or two from you. Im currently in the middle of converting my trx4 to a trx6 as i love my Mercedes 6x6 and would love to keep it intact. I have a roller trx4 and was looking for a trx6 new ideas but not much luck, so i thought to myself a 8x8 will be far more fetched. Until i came across your video and boy oh boy you like made a dream come true. Please 🙏🏼 help if you have the time, it’s not much difficult in the back to add the third axle, but for me im struggling with the idea of another steering axle in the front (HEAD SCRATCH) pan hard? Third link? Like how the hell am i going to tackle this? Lol 😅 please help me! I actually have a UMG10 6x6 body that I can’t find part for to build so I decided to do it a traxxas chassis 😂 “Great minds think a like”
I wonder if you put a hing so the rear four tires can adjust to the environment would it make it more adaptable... But weaker in jumps tho
Great truck, we'll done. 👍🏻
I'm planing a special 8*8 with Traxxas axles.
questions! How you get the second steering axle as a drive through axle? As you set, it's the normal steering axle from the Trx4 or trx6?
If I buy a TRX 6, then I need only one rear axle from the trx6 and the steering stuff cvds to make it work? Is that right?
Thanks for answer
Correct on the second part. Basically a trx6 with another trx6 rear most axle placed up front.
Thanks for the answer.
Perfect. Soon ready to order a trx6.
And how you made the second steering axle as a drive through axle? Maybe you have a short part list for the
Both steering axles. Then everyone can read it. 👍🏻
Thanks a lot.
Whare is this place?
This is the west area of Markham Park in South Florida.
