The Throwdown at the Mountain RC TTC by the RC Junkyard
Some highlights from the Tough Truck Challenge by the RC Junkyard at Mountain Adventure RC in North Georgia.
Holy smokes, this was no joke. I had some driver errors but still managed a 3rd place.
This was aptly called a Tough Truck comp and had:
A 6.5lb tire drag through gates.
A 21lb dead truck pull up a hill.
A mini rubicon rock section with gates.
And uphill water filled stream with gates.
And finally a tank trap: steel angle and round tube over flowing water(if you want to break and axle this one will make you happy)
I had a blast! Thanks to everyone who comes together and makes events like this possible.

Etowah Mining Tunnel in a Kayak and Flipped It! (Sorry not RC Related!)
Переглядів 6316 місяців тому
We ran the 1/4 mile long Etowah mining tunnel near Dahlonega Ga with some of our RC Racing buddies. Let’s just say we’re better on land! Lol. My friend “Tuna” aka Carlos ran it first, then my longest racing buddy Kevin w/Colleen in the tandem, and then I went solo last. I flipped in the first 1/3rd of the tunnel. The water was cold and of varying depth. I had to walk a bit to find a rock large ...

Nice work brother 🫡
Thanks man 🤛🏼
Maybe change the gearbox to aluminum case might fix the problem for less flex and play in there
Possible. But the main issue is the engineering and materials. They reused gears from other designs that don’t fully utilize the available space nor do they have nearly as much tooth engagement compared to a yokomo or reve D transmission.
Saw this thing at Caffine and Octane
My 1/10 RC tamiya lotus 79 is crying
Yea man I was there a couple of months ago. I’ll be back again this year too.
Etowah,I live in Dahlonega ga.
Nice. We’re just south in Dawson.
Are you going to be selling the stl files for this?
I do have some plans. Just need to iron out the kinks. It will likely take another full build to get to a point that makes sense for most people.
@ beautiful build,I would love to build one for myself
Obviously didn’t do that well I see by missing web pages and discontinued products
Can you please do one on the welder bed to
Yes I definitely need to do that!
I have a question for you on my dump on the 6 x 6 hauler my a button’s not working I can see the light blinking on the inside of the controller, but it’s not moving all the other three functions worked up and down and the backwards you can hear it clicking inside the controller for B, C, & D buttons but not for A button the red light inside blink but not click
It’s been a long time since I worked on that system. Those controllers are pretty inexpensive so before spending too much time I’d suggest just buying a new one on eBay/amz and swap it out. I would say check all wiring for continuity before replacing parts. You can also swap channels to narrow down the point of failure. Good luck.
Thanks for your reply. I came home charged the battery up and it’s working fine.
Awesome build!
Thank you! It’s one of the builds I like the most.
Nice build and details, but why is it evil if it is full of crosses?
Thx! Can’t have darkness without the light! Or something.
I like to use thermal paste between the heat sink and motor
It says on their add that these have metal diffs and metal portals
We haven’t had any issues with diffs or portals on these 🤘🏼
What kind of wheel offset did you put in?
6mm
Can someone make a comparison with CrossRC 6x6 Emo Bison
That’s a good idea.
Does this flatbed exist in real life or this a custom?
It does! This is the grey color of the DWB. crawlersncustoms.com/products/dwb-do-work-bed-for-the-cen-racing-f450
Hi. I bought the portal flip chassi. Can you point me to a video where I can see the portal flip ? Thanks
Hi. I’m not sure I’ve seen any videos on it but it’s pretty simple. Move the right side to the left and flip over. Trim the little key tab off with an xacto. Then put it back on the truck 🤛🏼
@crawlersncustoms Thank you
Is your kit out yet??? I have 70mm lift on my fl f450. I want the whole kit. Genius
Thx. Yes it is though it’s designed to work with our own lift kit it’s a great place to start on a DIY adaptation to whatever kit you’re using. Check our website and other videos.
Where can I get all the parts as a kit for all of it😮
Are these considered a 1.9 or 2.2 wheel?
Neither but they are closer to 2.2”.
So I could use 2.2 tires?
@ I haven’t tried that myself but it’s likely possible.
Thank you
Thank you
I didn't get the steering servo bracket
The steering servo bracket is not part of the anylevel kit. The steering servo bracket comes with our lift kits. Send us an email if you need that part as well. Crawlersncustoms@gmail.com
Will you sell a bed with wheel lift like that
We might revisit that this year. That particular truck was sold.
Can I buy some of those leaf springs??
Eventually yes that’s the plan but I’d like to test them more first and our track is temporarily closed while it moves location so I haven’t been able to get test and tune time in the last 8 weeks or so. We should be running at the new location by December.
Hey how much do you want for it
The sister build to this rig was sold for 5500 with a flat bed trailer. This one now has a step deck triple axle trailer.
I don't want the trailer I built a custom horse trailer.
@ nice. I’ve been thinking about a horse trailer too.
It's really cool but it's a little out of my budget
I have one of these. Original owner! Great video thanks!
Sick! I wish I would have kept some of my rc from back then.
you should try selling those leafspring bushings, they look perfect.
Thx yea that’s the plan but I want to get some video and make a few options on spring rate before then.
Hello, any update on how it held up? Mine just went out :(
It’s been on “light duty” as my back up car. I can’t speak to the longevity after the upgrades but it did sound better. It’s got about 6 hours on it and ok so far.
@@crawlersncustomssweet thanks I went to order it today sadly out of stock and put new “oem” ones in let’s see how long it lasts lol
@@riderguy9922 I did the oem replacement and got about 3-4 2-3 hour session on it before I blew them up again.
Beautiful
Thank you!
Purchased the model and started working on it , Great video but would LOVE to see a readme added to files with a detailed part list , instead of having to go thru the video. Is the part list included missing the sizing for the taillight screws? 2.8? .. got to step 1 of the video and didn't have the right hardware to start.
Noted thank you. They are m2 as most of the hardware on the rear panel/gauge area.
@@crawlersncustoms Thank you for the quick reply. The kit is a lot of fun ty for offering it for a fair price. I look forward to getting it together.
Looks like a futaba MC112B esc.
Thx! I wasn’t aware futaba made escs. I only remember the tekins and novaks from back then.
Yeah - they’re pretty basic. The kind of thing you’d upgrade your mechanical esc to, back in the day. Novak and Tekin were pukka race stuff. You can find pdf instructions online for the futaba - if you’ve kept it. ☺️
@@Timson254 I did keep it. Where I put it, that’s an entirely different question 😳
Do you make 1/6 scale fenders
Sorry no. No 1/6th products.
I felt the same using the scx24 platform so I made a globeliner in the 1:24 scale using my 3d printers
I'm having a heck of a time tuning mine. Would you be able to share what settings you used from the Arduino IDE serial monitor?
How about LS Studio?
Great video, where did you get those wheels? Could you share the link to the used parts?
Thx. Most info can be found on our other videos on this truck and website crawlersncustoms.com/ thx
I'm already working on mine and just want to order the necessary parts. Which wheels can you recommend, or what size should they be? Many thanks
Awesome. Standard 1/10 sized wheels for touring cars, drift cars or rally cars works well. Lots on eBay to choose from. I think the ones I use are from an HPI rally car but essentially those are drift wheel sizes with rubber tires.
Here are the exact ones I use: www.ebay.com/itm/373845092574?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-DKxd83RR6W&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=UnS0iONSRg6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I need this but in red and white with a grain hauler on it.
I have thought about making another in either white or black 👀🤘🏼
@@crawlersncustoms my dad's late uncle had an 81 362 straight truck. We had it at the farm even well after he passed away. We sold it, because it was something we didn't need. But having a scale model of it to give to my dad would probably make him cry. It would be very special to him. I need to learn how to make my own scale model vehicles so I can do this.
@@Blue_Bird_Vision_5 this is a lot for most people to take on. I would look at the 1:14 semis from Tamiya as an easier path.
It's aiight. The long frame looks so dumb tho. I really don't understand what peoples obsession is with super long trucks... I do hate that there really aren't any true 1/10th scale semi's. It could use some work with the cab proportions, in MY opinion, but for a first time build. It isn't bad at all.
Long and low isn’t for everyone and it does take a country mile to turn around but it’s the look I like 🤛🏼🤘🏼
so my car has this white wire connector on the end on one of the wires, but im not sure which one goes with that. What was the type of white wire connector called that you connected to that other yellow one with a separate wire around 13:30. It looks like just a big white rectangle
That’s a standard old school tamiya connector with an XT60 connector (the yellow one).
Scale?
These are all 1/10th.
Too bad it does not take advantage of the PWM dimming control of the RGB brightness. Transitions from segment to segment would be smooth
I hadn’t considered that. Maybe next time around on the coding…
I just found your channel a couple three weeks ago and what an amazing library of stuff that was created. We are in our busy season and I won’t be able to see much now but later this winter I will start watching your older videos.
Thanks man! I appreciate that. Have a good weekend. I’m actually working on that Semi right now (and haven’t worked on it for over a year). Getting the lights done and tying up some loose ends.
@@crawlersncustoms well I appreciate people that take the time to do things right. I thought I was doing cool stuff until I watched your channel. But that’s the stuff that makes people better. That semi is so interesting how you turned around the dig transmission to work like a line lock, so cool
Yeah I had a blast too! Definitely no joke! Congrats on the 3rd place! Awesome video! 👍😀👍
Thx! It reminded me of why I liked rc trucks in the first place. I loved the variety of vehicles competing too.
@@crawlersncustoms I agree! 👍😀👍
Hello, Sweet Rig. What did you use for the pass thru tandems in the rear?
Nothing special. Those are stock cen axles but most any axle could be used.
It was a great event! Hopefully my truck is ready for the next one.
Yup! You need to drive! I was glad I changed my mind and decided to participate myself.
I recently saw a video where the guy installed the shaft in the body and then installed the lubed seals in the body over the shaft. That way you never run sharp threads over compressed orings.
That is how Dlux assembled his
I'm really debating on grabbing one of these and personally prefer the coupe over the hatch. Next time we're at the track together I can get some video for you if you want.
That would be great. People like driving more than bench top talk I bet.
I would really have a hard time doing this with my big hands do you guys offer them assembled already?
It can be tough! But this is not a product we design or sell so no plans to offer assembled units.
Heads-up...delux assembles them for $10 per pair. I just ordered them assembled because I have xl hands as well and didn't want to chance losing anything. I think I will build my next set, but nice to have the option.
Not the only 1/10 scale cab over
The only one with line lock 🤛🏼🤘🏼
Dude, that thing is sweet. I am a 60 year-old kid. That just loves fabricating reimagining. You did a good job on yours. I hope someday to build something similar from my hauler.
Thanks man. It was a fun project. I still take it out sometimes. Good luck with yours. The only way to get it done is to start…
