Wow thank you for the Super Thanks! So glad my video was useful for you! I have many more tutorials on my channel and feel free to ask if you have any questions!
Great video--clear and useful information. Just wanted to learn to take decent photos without fumbling about, and got that plus some hidden extras. I had no idea my phone could do that "Show Detected Text" conversion. I'll be using that one.
I’m glad I bumped into this video on UA-cam , love the way you take the time to explain and also your tone of voice will keep the audience focused! Great job!
Thanks, unfortunately you can’t add a background with the photos app. You have to download a third part app from the App Store that offers something like that.
This was great! I recently upgraded to the iphone 14 pro after 5 years and the camera was a big upgrade! I'm leaving for vacation soon and I wanted to make the most out of it.
Thank you! I just picked up an iPhone Max Pro to use as my main camera for UA-cam and your tips were exactly what I wanted. I'd never used the Pano feature before, just tried it and it's great!
I really appreciated this. I have been wondering how to get to some of the settings and didn't realize there was a "swipe up" option when there was no open menu arrow.
The best tutorial I have ever seen I really appreciate everything you said. You are a natural teacher clear concise and the pace was perfect. Thank you
This was sooo helpful! Thank you! I had switched from an android to an Iphone and have been frustrated with transferring the photos to my PC and also I was not aware of all of the cool features! :)
Nice video. I’ve done quite a bit of photography with a “real” camera with interchangeable lenses. I miss so many shots as people just won’t wait while I get the right lens and make adjustments. My wife and I both upgraded to the 14 pro largely for the advanced camera. They arrived just before she left for a tour. I’ve sent her this tutorial in hopes she can take a few min to view it. We got our phones right before
View outside the frame is great in nature photography- ex: if a bird comes in just outside your shot you may want to adjust to capture it instead of the tree that will still be there in a moment.
Good point, thank you! The View outside frame was confusing me at first and during the video I thought it would be better to turn it off but I've put it back on thanks to your comment.
One other tip I would like to point out. When you tap on the screen to focus on a particular subject, the little "Sun" to the right of the focus square can be moved up and down to adjust the exposure. My wife and I just upgraded both phones, mainly for the cameras, as we are traveling quite a bit (Indonesia next month). Living in SE Asia, I don't like to bring out my Leica in this often chaotic environment, plus when people see an expensive camera come out, they tend to become self conscious, whereas with an iPhone, it's business as usual and they don't pay any attention. The 14 Pro is proving to be a robust camera. Good job on a very clear and concise video.
It blows me away how Apple has done so much with their phones. The technology is amazing. I don’t mind paying the money for something I use practically every minute of my life. The camera & it’s features are amazing and I do everything on my phone. This was a great tutorial for this 61 y/o woman who didn’t grow up with all this technology. Thank you.
The pano option to take pictures vertically works on buildings and beautiful ceilings of large cathedral type structures. I have one of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona that looks gorgeous.
Hey Daniel. Great job on going through the functionality of the iPhone 14 Pro camera without gettting side tracked on photography lessons. The slide right for video and slide left for burst photo were the hightlights for me...doubt I would have figured them out on my own. I'm also looking forward to trying out the vertical panorama technique, especially for mountain photography.
Thanks appreciate the comment and I’m glad you got some value from the video. That vertical panoramic idea I recently learned myself, mountains would look awesome for sure with it!
Great ! I don’t have a lot of tolerance for amateurish tutorials. But yours was awesome ! I just got my iPhone 14pro and probably the feature with the most variables is the camera. That was very helpful.
Thank you so glad the video was useful for you! I have many more tutorials on my channel if you are interested and feel free to ask if you have any issues down the road.
Really liked the tutorial! Is there some way to register a subject if the phone is moving erratically? That is, make the subject stay still in the center of the picture and have the borders do all the moving?
This video is extremely useful. I just bought 14 pro. I am playing with this to understand the photo apps. I have one question: How can I take video in landscape mode? Whenever I hold the camera horizontally, the picture comes only in half of the screen but horizontally. How can I get the picture in full screen.. Thank you in advance for your tip.
Thanks glad the video helped. Unfortunately that’s how the camera app is in landscape mode. The outer edges sometimes show what is outside the frame but you can’t have it show a preview on the whole screen as the picture dimensions wouldn’t be the same as the screen dimensions
Well done Sir! The best video tutorials of iPhone 14 pro max as this is my first time using iPhone, it's really informative and easy to follow. Thank you.
You really help me out about setting up the camera, m so low tech and all options really too overwhelming to me. Your explanation makes it simple to understand and able to follow. Thanks a lot.
Extremely helpful! I’m an aspiring photographer just for personal use on our family adventures. My husband and I were planning to purchase a professional camera and then read how good the iPhone 14 is, so we decided to upgrade our phones instead. We just arrived on our first big outing with them in Costa Rica. I’ve already taken some great shots. This tutorial will help me get even better pictures. Wishing I would’ve thought to use the pano setting yesterday at a 70m waterfall. Next time I will thanks to you. Thank you for a great informative video!!!! 🙌
You can get a great shot with a phone for sure, and you always have it on you which is a huge plus. But there's no real substitute for the form factor of a real camera. If you get serious about photography, think about getting a regular DSLR or Mirrorless.
I live in Vegas. The vertical pano is AWESOME (add more excited syllables) here. I haven’t tried it in Golden Hour or at night yet, but I’m already anticipating the results. 😊
Thank You Daniel you are a great instructor with a calming pace and clear language skills. I learned so much about using my iphone that I am now a big fan. 👍
Tapping to focus on different parts of the sunset might help and also moving the exposure. If the color is off that much though from bright orange to pink there isn’t much you can do. There used to be a way to turn off HDR on photos which I feel might have helped in situations like this but they removed it for photos.
I just bought the 14 pro. Thanks again Daniel for another great video. A 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I appreciate how you take the time to explain without rushing. I will check out your other videos on the I Pad.
It depends. If you can move your photos/videos to a computer when you fill up the phone? If you can’t or don’t want to then the larger amount of space gives you more time before transferring
Thank you, very helpful to get started... much appreciated, will come back to it for refresher and check out the comments to learn more as I get more experienced.
Thank you so much, this was very helpful! I was getting a little overwhelmed trying to figure out all the features and this explains everything. I just want to be able to take pictures and videos of my kids, I don't need anything fancy, but some of your shortcuts are going to help me out so much. I do have a question about using the volume buttons to do a burst and a video. It seems like in the past on my old phone, I could snap a picture with one of those so I'm glad I watched your video because I would've been very confused. Anyway, when you use the down button for video, is there a way to get it to keep recording without having to hold it down? It's a great tip either way, but I was just wondering because if I decided to take a long video my finger would get tired, lol.
So glad my video helped. As for the video button, if you plan to take long videos just flip to video on the main camera screen then a 1 click of the volume button takes the video until you click it again to stop. The tip of taking a video with the volume buttons is to use a “quick take” video as apple calls it. Not meant for long.

Thank you so much, this was very helpful! 👌 One question, that text detect function, is that only available on the 14 Pro Max? I have the 14 Pro and don’t see it.
Extremely helpful! I have a question: I am shooting video for theatrical plays and I want to get the best look. When I looked at what I shot, some of it was very focusy, or I guess you would say the resolution wasn't great. What in your opinion are the best settings for theatrical light?
Thanks so glad I could help. Unfortunately it’s fairly automatic with video. Shoot in 4K and try 60fps but if you find it to look a little off then move back to 30fps. Other then that it’s all about the lighting and your focus points.
It only pops up when your camera sees text. You need to enable it in the camera settings in the settings application maybe. It’s called show detected text.
Thank you for this. I had an iPhone 3GS back in the day, and maybe a 4 but I can't remember. So much has changed. One thing has not, though. When you take a photo horizontally but then show someone horizontally, it flips it around. Why on earth does it do that?
Thanks so glad my video helped. Usually when that happens is the picture got take. While it was still positioned in its vertical mode. Sometimes when you flip, the system misses it. It could be a glitch or just the way it got flipped that didn’t activate it. Best bet is to ensure the camera settings are always turned the way you flip. If you ever see them in a position where you can’t read them left to right, it missed the flip.
@@DHTV Yeah the controls are always oriented correctly. It happens on every photo, so I'm not really sure what to do about it other than just deal with it.
