    Beautiful. This one’s got all the makings of a true grail watch.

    Exquisite and what a movement! Going on a bit of a tangent...I know pure gold is as soft as lead, is 950 platinum similarly soft? As often is the case, when reviewing platinum watches, it is mentioned how soft it is.

      @christopherh.8124 4 роки тому +4

      Pure platinum is less soft (harder) than pure gold, so 950 (95%) platinum would be even less soft than that, but still more soft than 18K (75%) gold. Hardness (the opposite of softness) roughly translates into "scratch resistence." This is distinct from brittleness (the opposite of which is malleability).

      Platinum is one of the hardest materials out there , how can you compare it to Gold? It’s is stronger than some Titaniums, yet is much heavier.

      @@beluwuga no it’s not 😒

      @@beluwuga platinum is definitely not stronger than titanium. Maybe some alloys, but pure platinum vs titanium titanium wins.
      Interesting alloy includes: gold titanium alloy, it’s apparently 4x stronger than steel.
      It is also apparently the material Tony Stark used to make one of his first Iron Man suits.

    Hi Tim..... the second of this beautiful timepiece does tick like a quartz. The movement always makes me drool.
    To me A.Lange should be in the holy trinity.... or call it holy quadnity.

      Holy trinity is traditionally and stupidly only Swiss. I'm thinking ap is out and Als and jlc are in.

      It’s called as Jumping seconds of course it’s jumps...

      @@misteratoz no not JLC, JLC and IWC is below Girard Perregaux. Although they got beautiful and notable timepieces. A Lange can be Up there. Although the competition was Breguet and Patek, when did Vacheron and Audemars comes into play... what point in this 21st century that they just kick Breguet out of the league.. That company invented Tourbillon. Anyway, not JLC.

    An absolute masterpiece; grail of grails!

    Very good presentation, but this watch's dial makes no sense. A Regulator dial is about the MINUTES - not seconds. To swap the seconds & minutes on this dial is a slap to Seyffert's original design. The movement is awesome, but the dial is confusing and virtually illegible with the black dial version. They could have used a Grande Seconde design dial or even just have a standard dial with sweep seconds.

    • @beluwuga
      @beluwuga 2 роки тому +1

      I kinda have to agree with that. The black dial looks much more sleeker and fitting the regulator print. Although, I am quite happy that this watch is Jumping seconds as opposed to minutes. It just goes to show how accurate a watch can be, Watches experiments are also a great thing. When manufacturers pushes the boundaries of watchmaking and come up with ideas that seems silly, but as a proof of concept that something can be done just like jumping seconds in a mechanical watch nonetheless. Then we gotta appreciate it. Also, it’s a sarcasm to quartz movement and it’s reign in 1970s...

      That a mechanical watch can make a comeback and be better than a quartz watch.
