Great video, very informative! I'm really considering buying this beast, but I was wondering. What string gauge would you recommend for Drop F tuning? To avoid muddiness of course
Morten Dylgat hey I just stumbled on this video, I have one of these and I use the daddario NYXL 10-80 8 string set and throw out the 10, works great for drop F!
@@christianwilliams8034 i recently bought the sc 207 and I was wondering what gauge strings should I get for G# Standard? On my last 7 string I had 11-70 should I run that gauge w the 207?
I'm wondering about that irregular pickup just above the bridge pickup. Do you think a pickup in that position has any special use cases, where a pickup in that position really is helpful for some specific tone? How does it compare to a pickup in the neck position? Is the tone less bass-heavy than a neck pickup and less treble-heavy than a bridge pickup? I could imagine that the sound from that pickup position is quite nicely balanced - do you think this applies?
It’s literally only for aesthetic purposes. Stephen Carpenter himself has said he plays the bridge pup 100% of the time and the middle pup is strictly for looks. I have to agree with him, it’s a striking aesthetic and a signature of his. It sounds very similar to the bridge pup.
@@jakemartin5569 Thanks for the response - especially that it sounds very similar to the bridge pup. I've noticed that Devin Townsend also had this configuration is his 7 string in that Download performance with strapping. Guess the middle pickup is probably not very useful, since he doens't have it nowadays.
I know this is a year old but, Steph personally doesn't use it. He's always used ESP guitars and if you look at the original guitars he played they have this setup alongside a neck pickup. When Steph switched to 7's and 8's and to using EMGs they didn't have a single coil, so he just opted not to get a neck pickup. From others I have heard the reason they like it. Some people don't like when the neck pickup butts right against the guitar neck as it can make the tone become muddy. I have noticed this with my les paul vs my telecaster which with the single coil has a decent gap between the neck. I will say I do notice a tonal difference. Also, other people prefer to use a middle position to the neck as you can blend the bottom and top pickup how you see fit versus being in one position or the other. What I have heard is the difference is more noticeable on cleans then in distorted sessions. I'm still waiting on mine to come in, but I'm curious to test it out.
Nice Video, im also going to getESP LTD SC-607B Stephen Carpenter Signature, but its a superstrat and black and 555 euros, it also has a 27 scale so playing deathcore and djent is possible :D
dude sometimes we just gotta let got of things that doesn't suit us... like your cow piercing, i get it! i get it! but nah man just looks terrible on ya
I thought it was a disgusting looking fever blister/cold sore. That piercing looks stupid af on everyone, so don’t take offense to Pedro. Although I voted for you Pedro.
Finally I found some djenty test on this SRC Fishmans!
Sounds great - thanks!
It does what ever you want it to do!

Ayyyyy, right on! I bet it’ll sound killer! Write some sick riffs with it!
Only negative about this one compared to regular sc607b is that is neck heavy and not balanced well.
I have one and its no heavier than my 9 string or a les Paul but neck dive is defo a thing
very great guitar men, i have them with two bareknuckle it's ....la poutre
