  • My DIY Painted laminate Countertop tutorials. We love our painted countertops and would absolutely do them again! They are still holding up after 8 months of using them and we are super happy with this easy DIY project.
    Check out my full tutorial with a list of all the materials required on the blog -
    thebeautyrevival.com/blog/diy...
    In today's video we are going to share our DIY painted marble countertop tutorial for painting your laminate countertops to look like marble. We did a grey faux marble finish on our countertops and sealed them with water based varathane and love how they turned out!
    #paintedcountertops #fauxmarble #diy
    This is a super simple project, and will leave you with shiny and durable faux marble countertops as long as you follow all the steps and don't skimp on the sanding pre-project and the varathane to seal them!

    Of ALL the thousands of hours I've watched videos in great detail the info in the very beginning was the MOST helpful👌. I've been trying to decide between oil based and water based polyurethane, couldn't decide so thanks so much for that info. Water based it is😊👌

    Soooooo inspired! I am starting to plan our kitchen makeover, but our budget is very limited. This is so great!
    Do you think this would work on bathroom vanities too?

    Love it! I don’t trust myself with painting lines, could I follow the steps without marble lines to just safely paint and seal my laminate countertops? Thanks for all your trial and error!

      Absolutely!! The lines are totally just decorative 🎉

    Finally, a video that showed another color and epoxy-free finish!! Thank you so much for making this video! =)) I have a question--- being a complete novice at all things home reno; I am not sure what you meant in the blog "lightened by 50% eggshell..." Does that mean mixing with another color in eggshell finish or get the paint itself in that finish? Sorry if this is a silly question =|

    • @TheBeautyRevival
      @TheBeautyRevival  3 роки тому

      No that’s not silly at all. When you get paint mixed at the store you can ask for it to be lightened by a certain % so it’s just not as dark, and they will mix it that way for you 🤗🎉

    Which finish did you use for the water based varathane? Semi gloss or satin? They look great!

      @@TheBeautyRevival Did you use the interior or exterior paints? Any certain formula?

    • @TheBeautyRevival
      @TheBeautyRevival  4 роки тому +2

      I used their interior paint but any formula will work. The post important part for it adhering properly is prepping your countertops well by sanding them and then priming with a bonding primer and sealing them when they are done with water based varathane.

    When you went over it with the watery paint, was that the same paint you used to do the veining?

      Yes but watered down, there are more detailed instructions in the blog post as well thebeautyrevival.com/blog/diy-painted-marble-countertops/

    Hi, thank you for sharing your process. I'm about to paint my hideous laminate countertops, and I'm trying to find the best top coat. Just wondering how this topcoat is holding up?

    I love this but I don't think I have the patience to do all the lines and painting! I am considering painting an appliance apoxy on ours. Do you think I need to seal them with something?

    • @TheBeautyRevival
      @TheBeautyRevival  4 роки тому

      hmm I am not sure, maybe when you pick up the apoxy they will know if it would be best to seal them. The varathane becomes almost like a thick plastic coating that makes it so they aren't going to chip, so I wouldn't want to skip it unless the apoxy kind of creates the same effect

  • @RobertHa81
    @RobertHa81 3 роки тому

    Hi Brittany. Thanks for your video! Did you consider using epoxy instead of the water based varathane? How’s the durability to date with your varathane?

    • @TheBeautyRevival
      @TheBeautyRevival  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Robert, I did look I to epoxy but from the tutorial I found it seemed like it was very messy and required a lot of prep work etc. This was so easy and they have held up! I’m not sure about epoxy but with the varathane you just have to careful about not putting anything really really hot in your countertop or it will melt it. Otherwise they are 👌🏻

    Great job! Love the look. I'm having trouble finding the correct Varathane so I'll order it on line. Did you use a quart or gallon?

    • @cherylwoolman1013
      @cherylwoolman1013 3 роки тому

      There are so many Varathanes, which one did you use? Was it interior or exterior? Was it the diamond wood finish or the spar urethane, they are both high gloss and water base? Thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

    • @TheBeautyRevival
      @TheBeautyRevival  3 роки тому

      You don’t need very much, I think we used a quart but we didn’t even use half. A little goes a long way! 🤗
